A week later.
A full week had passed since Kael had collapsed from aura depletion. He had managed to stay safe, as the lingering fear from the massacre he'd caused kept every living creature away. Not even the smallest thing dared to approach within a three-kilometer radius. He remained like that, unconscious, until morning.
As soon as Kael's eyes fluttered open, he sprang to his feet and began surveying his surroundings. Everything was as it had been when he first passed out. The ground was littered with the corpses and shredded remains of monsters. All the wounds on Kael's body were completely healed, though a sharp, incredible pain still throbbed in his heart.
Clutching his chest to suppress the pain, Kael started his journey. He continued walking without stopping, even through that evening. This time, he chose his resting spots more carefully, and for the past week, he'd limited his rest to two hours per day.
He finally reached a cave nestled in the side of a small cliff. The cave was about fifteen meters above the ground, and its entrance was naturally camouflaged by the branches and leaves of an adjacent tree. The cliff itself was seventy to eighty meters tall, towering above the gigantic trees. Kael used the protrusions on the tree's massive trunk to climb to the branch in front of the cave, passing through the dense leaves to reach the entrance.
The cave went deeper than he expected, and a faint light emanated from its depths.
To determine what the light was and whether it posed a threat, Kael continued deeper into the cave. As he advanced, the light began to intensify and grow stronger. A few meters later, he reached the end of the cave where the light originated.
The source of the light was thousands of mana crystals embedded in the walls. The moment Kael stepped next to the crystals, the gigantic crystal in the center of the cave instantly shattered, and all its energy surged into Kael's body. His mana level immediately leaped from 1% to 10%, providing him with an incredible surge of energy. Where the large crystal had broken, there lay an egg, fifty centimeters high and thirty centimeters wide, glowing white.
When Kael focused his Mana Sight on the egg, the status display read: "Type: Dragon Egg."
