Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: The "Other People's Children" They Envy

"I have a little donkey, I never ride, one day on a whim, I rode it to the market,..."

On the way, sitting in the back seat of the electric bike, Xuanxuan was swaying her little head, singing in a childish voice.

As they got closer to the shop, Huang Tao noticed a crowd of people outside the shop entrance.

Wow~

These old customers sure came early!

Thankful to meet such lovely customers!

Unable to repay them, Huang Tao had no choice but to speed up.

"Look, the boss is here..."

An old customer noticed, looking delighted.

The crowd that was originally gathered together immediately made way for Huang Tao.

After parking the bike, Huang Tao lifted Xuanxuan from the back seat, smiled apologetically at the crowd, and said, "I'm sorry! I just went to pick up my daughter from school. I'm really sorry to keep you waiting!"

"It's alright, picking up the child from school is more important, we don't mind waiting a bit."

"Boss, you don't have to feel sorry, it's us who came too early..."

"Yeah! Couldn't buy any at noon, so thought I'd come earlier."

"Why don't you all go inside and have a seat first? You'll surely get some in a bit..."

Huang Tao gave a knowing smile, took out the keys, and opened the shop door.

Xuanxuan's big, pretty eyes darted around like a curious baby, looking at the crowd of customers.

Wow~

These grandpas and uncles came so early because they love Daddy's pan-fried buns!

She was happy that Daddy's buns were so popular!

"Grandpas, uncles, my Daddy will be busy, let me serve you!"

With that.

She ran into the store with her little short legs.

"Grandpas, uncles, come sit over here!"

She struggled a bit to pull out a chair, inviting them as she did.

Everyone was warmed!

They were also charmed!

Old Qin and the others looked at her enthusiastic little waiter act, a loving smile appearing on their lips.

They naturally couldn't bear to let her help with the chair.

Quickly they moved forward to stop her.

"What a good girl, but let Grandpa do it himself..."

"Uncle will do it himself too..."

Each of them pulled out a chair and sat down.

Old Qin patted the chair that Xuanxuan personally pulled out, signaling her to sit: "You sit too."

"Mhm~"

Xuanxuan sat on the chair, her little legs wrapped in gray leggings swinging lightly.

She blinked her big watery eyes, looking at the waiting grandpas and uncles.

For a moment, she didn't know how to communicate.

Moreover, she didn't know how to be a qualified waiter.

After holding back for a while, she remembered the time Daddy took her to a restaurant.

Got it!

She gave a sweet smile: "Grandpas, uncles, would you like some water?"

Water?

It takes up space in the stomach, drinking a glass of water means eating fewer pan-fried buns!

They had to save room for pan-fried buns and century egg porridge!

Everyone waved quickly, declining Xuanxuan's kind offer in unison: "No need, Grandpa's not thirsty, Uncle's not thirsty..."

Alright then!

Xuanxuan was secretly anxious.

How should she do it right?

Old Qin noticed her somewhat disappointed look and started a conversation: "Little girl, what's your name?"

"Grandpa, my name is Huang Jingxuan, everyone calls me Xuanxuan, Grandpa you can call me Xuanxuan too!"

"Alright, that's a nice name." Old Qin shook his folding fan, complimenting her.

Beside him, Lao Liu chuckled, "Then Grandpa will call you Xuanxuan too, is that okay?"

"Yes!"

Xuanxuan's dimples appeared faintly with her smile.

Lao Liu chuckled, curious, "Xuanxuan, why haven't we seen your mommy? Is she at work?"

"My mommy... got sick, went to the hospital, then... Daddy said Mommy went to the sky, became a star, watching Xuanxuan blink blink..."

Xuanxuan missed Mommy.

But Xuanxuan didn't cry.

Her words nearly brought tears to Old Qin and the others.

In their eyes, Xuanxuan was the "child from someone else's family" they envied.

Cute, obedient, sensible, polite, with a loving father.

Unexpectedly, this lovable child experienced family changes and hardships too soon.

Heavy-hearted, Old Qin glared at Lao Liu, blaming him for bringing it up.

Lao Liu looked aggrieved.

He didn't mean to~

Lao Liu tried to make up for it: "Xuanxuan... though your mommy is in the sky, she loves you very much, just loves you from another place."

"Grandpa, that's what Daddy said too." Xuanxuan smiled brightly.

Seeing the optimistic Xuanxuan, Old Qin and the others felt Huang Tao was a competent father, teaching Xuanxuan well.

Just then, the shop door was pushed open, breaking the somber mood.

Jiang Guowei stood outside the door, poking his head in, shouting towards Huang Tao in the kitchen: "Boss Huang, please save me 20 pan-fried buns, 10 pork and 10 beef, and 4 bowls of century egg porridge."

Hearing this while frying buns in the kitchen, Huang Tao nodded in acknowledgment: "Alright, I got it, come and pick them up when you can."

"Thank you, you carry on."

Jiang Guowei waved his hand, then went back to his own shop.

As soon as he left, more customers came in to dine.

Seeing the already seated customers in the shop, they were a bit surprised.

"Wow! I thought I was early enough, but you all came even earlier!"

"Boss, your pan-fried buns are too delicious, I feel terrible not eating them even for a meal..."

"Boss, give me 40 beef pan-fried buns, I'm having a gathering with friends tonight, they gotta try these buns too."

"Hey, hey, hey! No need to push... Please line up properly."

Huang Tao responded with a smile: "Everyone, please wait a moment, the pan-fried buns will be ready soon..."

Upon hearing this, the customers obediently lined up.

...

Jiangling finally found a parking spot on West City Old Street. Getting out of the car, he held Qianqian's little hand and came to the So Delicious shop entrance together.

Seeing the queue at the entrance, he was a bit surprised.

Mr. Xuan's pan-fried buns are this popular?

People even stand in line to buy them?

While he was dazed, Qianqian let go of his hand and ran towards where Xuanxuan was.

"Xuanxuan!"

Hearing that, Xuanxuan quickly jumped off her chair, opening her arms to meet her: "Qianqian!"

"Xuanxuan!"

The two little ones, who had only been apart for a while, hugged each other tightly, hopping around joyfully.

The happy, cheerful smiles filled their faces and echoed in the shop.

It's really nice to meet each other after school!

"Qianqian, how come you're here?"

"My Daddy brought me to eat the pan-fried buns your Daddy makes~"

"Oh oh~"

Understanding immediately, Xuanxuan nodded, seeing Jiangling approaching, she politely greeted: "Hello, Uncle."

"Hello, Xuanxuan."

Jiangling looked around the shop filled with customers, surprisingly turning to Xuanxuan: "Xuanxuan, can Uncle ask you a question? Is your dad's shop just opening today?"

"Yes, that's right!" Xuanxuan nodded earnestly.

"Then these customers... there are too many."

This completely overturned Jiangling's perception of a newly opened store.

"That's because my Daddy's pan-fried buns are delicious!" Xuanxuan said proudly.

Jiangling nodded politely.

Are they really that good?

Other parents bringing their kids over were also surprised to see the queue.

After all, in their information, this was just a store opening today!

Anyway, after a little surprise, they obediently lined up at the back.

Who could resist when their kids were crying and clamoring for it!
