Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: A Bitter History of Catching Chickens

Yang Leqi put on a serious face, looking as if she was doing something very important.

As she swung her stick, the sheep obediently trotted toward the direction of the sheep pen.

One by one, they jostled each other, crowding the path as if afraid they'd be eaten if they moved too slowly.

"Sister Yun, look! I really do have a knack for this!" Yang Leqi turned her head excitedly and enthusiastically said to Qin Yun, who was a few steps behind her.

"Impressive." She replied with a smile.

Keeping her skills and achievements to herself.

Compared to this successful side, the other side was like a scene of chaos.

The three of them closed the enclosure gate to prevent the chickens from running away, opened the door to the chicken coop, and used a lot of grain to lure the chickens. Upon hearing the sound, a flock of chickens rushed in.

A few of them saw that Qin Hao also had some, and immediately charged at him.

Qin Hao realized something was wrong and instinctively threw the food from his hands, trying to dodge, but before he could get to safety, he was pounced on by a few flying chickens.

"FUCK!"

He roared in anger, shaking off the chickens that landed on his shoulder, head, and flapped at his face.

In an instant, he was covered in feathers, with a scratch on his face from a chicken, making him look utterly disheveled.

The mischievous chickens had already joined the food frenzy.

"Are you okay? Not hurt, right?" Chen Yao looked up with concern after hearing the noise.

"What's going on?" Wang Sirui rushed in from outside and saw Qin Hao's appearance, holding back a laugh, "Were you just mugged by chickens?"

Qin Hao's face didn't look good, and hearing the teasing, his expression turned even gloomier.

"Sorry, sorry, I didn't mean to. I have some band-aids in my bag, do you want one?" Wang Sirui pointed to his wounded face and made a scissor gesture to the director, saying, "Director, please cut this part out."

"No need." Qin Hao refused irritably, holding back his anger.

Chen Yao saw the awkwardness and tried to smooth things over, "It's getting late, let's get the chickens into the coop, otherwise who knows when we'll get them all in."

"I'll go outside." Not wanting to stay there any longer, Qin Hao headed straight out.

Wang Sirui shrugged indifferently and continued to feed the chickens with Chen Yao.

They poured out grain while clucking to attract the chickens outside, while Qin Hao cooperated by herding them in.

But outside wasn't any better; some chickens ignored him, and as soon as he shooed them, they flapped their wings and took off in fright.

Afraid of being pounced on again, he used a bamboo stick to drive them.

Soon, Wang Sirui and Chen Yao came out to help, and the three of them herded the flock, but the chickens were uncooperative, flying from one end to the other. Occasionally, a few defiant ones flew overhead, leaving a trail of feathers, vexing Wang Sirui to the brink of giving up.

Qin Yun and Yang Leqi didn't spend much time getting the sheep back into their pen and returned to the small house.

After waiting for a while in the small house and seeing that the other three hadn't returned, and knowing dinner depended on both teams completing their tasks,

After a moment's hesitation, Yang Leqi decided to go and check with Qin Yun.

When they reached the enclosure, they heard the squawking and chaos from outside, along with Wang Sirui's exasperated roars. The two exchanged glances.

Wang Sirui, with his carefree and boisterous personality, must have encountered something really frustrating to be so upset?

Then they heard Chen Yao, panting, say, "You two stand on either side, let's herd the chickens in together."

A few seconds later, it was chaos again, with even one chicken flying out.

Yang Leqi screamed in fright, "Sister Yun."

Qin Yun's eyes locked onto the flying chicken, which seemed startled mid-air and froze for a second.

She reached out and grabbed the chicken.

Yang Leqi stared blankly at the once rowdy, defiant chicken now obediently calm in Qin Yun's hands, her eyes wide with admiration, "Sister Yun, you're amazing."

"Let's go in and take a look." With a bit of effort, Qin Yun opened the enclosure gate.

The disheveled trio was contemplating whether to abandon the task or continue catching chickens when they heard the sound of the door opening.

The three simultaneously turned to see Qin Yun and Yang Leqi.

Chen Yao was a bit out of breath, "What are you guys doing here?"

Yang Leqi looked at the trio's sorry state, with feathers sticking to Wang Sirui's head, a scratch on Qin Hao's face, and the dirt on Chen Yao. She held back for two seconds but couldn't help asking hesitantly, "You guys…?"

What happened?

Upon seeing the chicken in Qin Yun's hand, Wang Sirui was shocked and walked toward her, shouting angrily, "Qin Yun, you actually caught that chicken! Give me that chicken! I swear I'm going to stew that troublemaker tonight! If not for it, we wouldn't be in this mess!"

"So, you guys ended up like this because of it?" Yang Leqi turned her bewildered eyes to the calm, quiet chicken in Qin Yun's hands, becoming suspicious.

Is this really the tyrant chicken they spoke of?

It looks so well-behaved.

"Exactly, we got all the chickens in except this one. It's super agile and even knows how to attack people," Chen Yao explained.

His words were much more convincing than Wang Sirui's.

Yang Leqi instantly believed them a little more.

Thinking about the sheep earlier, they seemed as well-behaved as this chicken. She thought it was her extraordinary talent, but maybe it was because of Sister Yun?

Could Sister Yun be like those Beast Tamers in novels?

Yang Leqi's eyes shone brightly as she gazed at Qin Yun.

Wow!

A living, real Beast Tamer right beside her!

Feeling slightly creeped out by the gaze, Qin Yun didn't forget the point, "Are you going to eat it? I can help."

"Eat it! With how agile and flighty this chicken is, the meat must be really tender and delicious!" Wang Sirui, while talking about this chicken, was still gritting his teeth, looking at the chicken with undisguised annoyance, wanting to pluck and roast it immediately to vent his anger.

The group successfully completed the task, carrying the chicken back with a determination to consume it.

The program team agreed, and while the group freshened up, they prepared a feast, with the chicken placed prominently in the center.

"Today was such a tough and awkward day, here's a toast to our meeting," Wang Sirui, now back to his usual self, cheerfully raised his glass.

"You had it worse; here's to you," Yang Leqi couldn't help but laugh, recalling their sorry state.

"After this chicken-catching ordeal, we're all one team. Gathering together is fate; let's drink to that," Chen Yao said.
