Chapter 11 - Chapter 8: Sleep Like a Baby

After nearly seven hours of 'work', Chen Lusi felt it was time to slack off a bit.

"This should be a little more interesting than reading documents."

Chen Lusi picked up the game controller, opened the game, and turned to the loli standing next to him, muttering to himself, "I don't know if a delivery game looks fun, but a game is still a game."

No response.

Chen Lusi didn't mind, he opened a save file from the day before yesterday and continued his delivery journey.

His current game progress was already nearing the end.

So relatively speaking, the difficulty was much higher than earlier stages.

He made quite a few blunders because of his lack of skill combined with the urge to keep playing.

However, the little loli remained unresponsive.

Finally, half an hour later, Chen Lusi managed to avoid a bunch of BTs and crossed the snow mountain ravaged by a blizzard, reaching the Spirit Cultivator Base.

As Chen Lusi breathed a sigh of relief, he tilted his head slightly, boasting, "Pretty impressive, right?"

The little girl who had been staring at the screen slowly turned her head, her dark eyes looking at Chen Lusi.

"Those failures weren't my fault."

Chen Lusi smiled, "You wouldn't know how 'contrary to common sense' this game is; if you've played enough games, you'd know this is really different from ordinary games.

The fact that you have to hold the controller throughout to prevent the character from losing balance is enough to be 'contrary to common sense'. It's actually quite exhausting to play.

After delivering the goods, going down the mountain should be much easier, trust me and watch."

The little loli heard this, turned her head back, and looked at the screen again.

But even going down the mountain was not easy for Chen Lusi.

He still died several times at the foot of the mountain.

"…At least the music is nice, right?" Chen Lusi forced a smile.

This time, the little girl beside him didn't turn around, just continued to stare at the screen without moving.

"Do you want to play?" Chen Lusi hesitated for a moment and handed over the controller.

Although he said he treated the other as a shadow.

But in reality, having someone who appears human in every way standing beside you inevitably makes you treat them as a person.

But the other party was not human.

From beginning to end, the little girl never reached out to take the controller.

Seeing that she remained motionless, Chen Lusi shook his head and didn't insist.

Reminding himself once again that the other was not human, he continued his gaming journey.

But soon.

He broke his concentration.

The vast white snow mountain, the majestic scenery, the protagonist walking alone and with difficulty within it.

Ethereal music suddenly began to play.

"…Pretty awesome, right?" Chen Lusi turned his head again, muttering to himself, "At first, I couldn't imagine that the gameplay would be fun."

"But once I actually started playing, it turned out to be surprisingly interesting."

"Even though I cursed quite a few times, especially during the wind farm part."

"But I never thought about deleting the game."

"Actually, there was an even more outrageous part before, carrying someone across the entire continent…"

"…Look, I came down, pretty impressive, right?"

Next.

Chen Lusi kept playing, occasionally expressing his thoughts, but since there was no response, it was hard to tell if he was talking to himself or chatting with the little girl beside him.

The little girl remained quietly standing, never moving from start to finish.

One talked, the other listened.

This situation continued into the evening.

Even into the afternoon of the next day.

Chen Lusi's life was undeniably boring.

The first and second days were basically no different.

Even after experiencing such a big event when he returned home, he still stuck to his routine.

...

The second day, evening.

Xia Panqiu looked at the figure playing games on the screen and helplessly said, "How can there be… someone so boring?"

Even though Ah Yue repeatedly insisted that Chen Lusi's 'Authority' danger level was not high.

But until that moment, she remained opposed.

So she made a lot of preparations.

However, she didn't expect that all those preparations… were completely useless.

She didn't even get a chance to deliver the warning she had prepared.

Because this guy on the screen stayed in his room the whole time, except for typing, he was playing games.

Not only did he not try to turn his arm into a blade again.

He even… started talking about games with an entity that couldn't communicate.

Attempting to feed it.

Utter lunacy!

Though the camera couldn't see that one.

But Xia Panqiu didn't think Chen Lusi was talking to himself… yet she felt his actions weren't much better than talking to himself.

"..."

Xia Panqiu looked back at the screen, shook her head gently, and then softly said, "…So pitiful."

What she didn't know was.

Two people had also commented on Chen Lusi's lifestyle before.

Lin Ying's comment was — reassuring.

And her sister's comment was — even a dog picked up on the road lives a more exciting life than he does.

Meanwhile.

Chen Lusi was unaware of the 'so pitiful' comment given by the petite girl he had met once.

Even if he knew, he wouldn't care.

Because for him, there was really no distinction between good and bad.

At one in the morning.

Chen Lusi went to sleep on time — usually, he couldn't fall asleep on time, but with the 'human sleeping pill', this had become easier.

"Thanks."

When the little girl's cold hand covered his forehead again, Chen Lusi said thanks.

As expected, there was no response.

But Chen Lusi found that he was starting to like this little girl a bit.

Even though there were still many inconveniences.

However…

At this thought.

Chen Lusi couldn't continue his line of thought.

Because in the next instant, he fell into a deep sleep, plunging into the abyss of slumber.

This time.

He dreamed.

Dreamed that he returned to the rain scene from two days ago.

This time, not only was there the girl in the white dress, but also a wheelchair, a man with a clock-face, a shadow.

They were surrounding the dying Chen Lusi, seemingly saying their final goodbyes.

Then, an ear-piercing buzzing sound started.

Mixed with indistinct whispers.

The buzzing grew louder and louder until it was unbearable.

Chen Lusi woke up.

Looking at the ceiling, his first instinct was to recall the details of the dream.

But the memory, much like the urge to pee upon waking, quickly disappeared like a flood.

He couldn't remember.

Chen Lusi rubbed his temples, not wanting to dwell on it, picked up his phone to check the time, got up, and instinctively searched for the little girl's figure.

But the little girl who had been sitting on the chair staring at the screen the past couple of days was absent today.

Chen Lusi glanced at the chair not far away, thought for a moment, got out of bed, went to the bathroom, then to the balcony.

Even opened the wardrobe and fridge to check.

The entire room was only a few dozen square meters.

In less than five minutes, Chen Lusi completed his search.

He didn't find anyone.

"......"

Chen Lusi gently closed the wardrobe, then leaned against it. After a long silence, he yawned, and turned around to head into the bathroom.

He still had to go out today.

Better wash his face first.
