Chapter 29 - PRS 29

In the largest private hospital in XX City, a girl walked limply, holding the test results from the internist's office. Her hands were shaking violently, as if the test results were a death sentence.

With a pale face, Scarlet slumped into a chair in the waiting room in the corner. She clutched the paper tightly, her eyes blank, her lips trembling.

"Syphilis? It can't be... this must be wrong! I can't have that disease," she cried. "I'm always careful. I always make sure everything is clean. This must be a lab error. There must be something wrong with these test results."

Scarlet covered her mouth tightly with her palm to prevent others from hearing her sobs. Tears fell, wetting her heavily made-up cheeks.

"Why... why does this misfortune always come my way? My life is already ruined, and now my body is too?" she muttered softly. "What more must I endure? Hasn't I already suffered enough?"
