"Mio~" (Psychic powers going out of control? Let me hear about it too?)
That familiar voice suddenly rang out.
Grey followed the sound and saw little Riolu returning to the dojo.
And…
Mewtwo right behind Riolu?!
"?"
A big "?" made of aura basically popped over Grey's head.
You go out for barbecue once and you bring Mewtwo back with you?!
Even if Mewtwo was in a human form right now, Grey could tell from the system's status panel that this was absolutely Mewtwo.
Authentic, pure-blooded Mewtwo.
The kind of Mewtwo he'd recognize even if it got turned to ashes.
"Riolu, you…"
Grey pointed at the human-shaped Mewtwo, and the corners of his eyes and mouth started twitching.
"Mio~" (This guy's going to be responsible for grilling meat from now on. For a while, the dojo needs to set out an extra pair of bowls and chopsticks~)
Riolu smiled, then casually patted Mewtwo's thigh.
Just imagining that he wouldn't have to grill his own barbecue anymore made Riolu ridiculously happy.
"…No need. When it's mealtime, I'll go back on my own."
Mewtwo tugged at the corner of his mouth.
He didn't want to admit it, but when it came to grilling meat… he really couldn't beat Mew!
That made it Mew: two wins.
As for the earlier win, that had been their clash in fighting.
And that only made Mewtwo even more curious how Mew had learned so much while hanging around Grey.
Or rather…
What kind of fighting technique did Grey even have that Mew could learn?!
Their strength clearly wasn't on the same level, yet from what Mewtwo heard from Mew, the fighting techniques Mew had picked up were learned from Grey himself.
That nearly fried Mewtwo's CPU.
In Mewtwo's mind, only the weak learned from the strong.
Since when did the strong learn from the weak?
"Hey, there's a saying: 'Someone born before me heard the truth earlier, so I follow them and learn from them.' You know what that means?"
Grey, sensing through aura that Mewtwo was secretly trash-talking him, couldn't help throwing that out.
"? Don't know."
Mewtwo shook his head.
He didn't understand the "gibberish" Grey was spouting.
"It means: someone born earlier than me learns the truth earlier, so I can follow them and treat them as my teacher. So… you get what I'm saying?"
Grey narrowed his eyes, smiling without smiling as he looked at Mewtwo.
"…"
Mewtwo understood the implication.
Grey was basically saying he was "born earlier," so he knew more.
Mewtwo felt like Grey was using age to take advantage of him.
"Tch. You'll understand when you grow up."
Grey shook his head.
From what Mew had told him, Mewtwo's intelligence still wasn't fully "opened up" yet.
To put it bluntly, he was kind of single-minded.
He needed someone to guide him.
Giovanni wasn't the guiding type—so Grey might as well do it.
As for how to guide him… first, Mewtwo needed to become interested in Grey.
"Hmph. A mere human. I could crush you with one hand."
Mewtwo hated people talking about age—especially this human trying to press him down with it.
Fury surged through him. He raised an arm on the spot, and a vast tide of psychic power roared out like a collapsing sea and shattered mountains, trying to pin Grey and Sabrina to the ground until they couldn't move.
"?"
Sabrina's calm expression shifted slightly.
The next instant, she released psychic power of equal force. When the two energies met, they held in a strange, eerie balance.
"Huh???"
Mewtwo's pupils shrank.
He hadn't used his full strength, but seeing a human match him anyway genuinely shocked him!
This little Fighting Dojo… was absurdly stacked!
Mewtwo immediately increased the pressure.
From thirty percent to forty percent—there was no way his power would lose to a frail human body!
"You have power, but that's all. You're leaking a lot of your psychic energy. You can't bring out your full strength."
Sabrina didn't move so much as half a step. Her calm tone reached Mewtwo's ears and made his breathing turn sharp.
"Why?!"
"Heh, I told you—basic stuff~"
Grey rolled his shoulders, then lightly placed a hand on Sabrina's shoulder and smiled with absolute confidence. "Sabrina, step back. I've got this."
"Okay."
Sabrina nodded and handed the "battlefield" over to Grey.
Then—
BOOM!!
Mewtwo's psychic pressure slammed down in an instant. Space itself seemed to scream under the weight.
But even with such a terrifying attack, right before it could touch Grey, it was stopped by a streak of blue light.
A rippling aura barrier flowed like an aurora, forcibly severing the flood of psychic power.
Grey's fingertips danced with shining aura as he faced Mewtwo's pressure head-on!
"???"
Watching his attack get blocked by two humans—
Mewtwo's worldview shattered for the first time.
Sure, he hadn't gone all out, but it still shouldn't be getting stopped this easily!
Was this even human?
Were these really humans, and not Pokémon wearing human skin?
Oh, right—there are humanoid Pokémon. These two had to be some kind of humanoid Pokémon!
He'd heard that in the Galar region, there was a snow mountain that worshipped some legend—some "king" or something. These two had to be connected to that Pokémon!
Otherwise how could they catch his move so cleanly?!
…Or maybe it was because he still wasn't using his full power.
Yeah. That had to be it!
After a burst of internal reasoning, Mewtwo successfully gaslit himself into believing all of this was simply because he hadn't used his full strength.
"If you're the one who can't do it, don't blame the road for being uneven. I told you not to go around thinking you're number one—be careful, an enemy might drop on you from the sky."
Grey moved freely inside the psychic pressure, then flicked a finger.
Tap.
The pressure vanished instantly.
And Mewtwo suddenly felt his shoulders sink—vast aura flowed into his entire body.
It didn't harm him at all, but it made him feel… calm.
"I told you to keep your mind steady. You're just too impatient. Impatient—doesn't work."
Grey spoke earnestly.
"Then what kind of personality do you think is good?"
Mewtwo didn't understand and asked Grey directly.
Honestly, after Grey injected aura into him, Mewtwo suddenly felt like everything looked more agreeable.
The urge to destroy things got wiped clean.
Even the urge to "rebel" was temporarily gone.
Without thinking, Grey answered, "Jolly, Timid, Adamant, Modest. Those are all pretty good."
Mewtwo frowned, not understanding what Grey meant, and racked his brain for an explanation.
Still didn't get it.
So he asked sincerely, "What do you mean?"
"Ahem. Just a joke."
Grey shook his head, not taking it seriously.
"Oh right—about you coming to the dojo… he doesn't know, does he?"
By "he," Grey was obviously referring to Giovanni.
"No. I came in secret. He doesn't know."
