Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Dreams and Reality

"I'm begging you, please save my mom."

"Besides my mom, I only have a sister who's less than six months old."

In the cold, antiseptic-smelling emergency room, Mo Jingchun knelt on the ground, holding his mother's icy hand, desperately pleading with the doctors.

Inside the emergency room, neither the doctors nor the nurses paid attention to Mo Jingchun, who was already tearfully kneeling on the ground, as their attention was intensely focused on the patient they were trying to save.

"Director, the patient has developed ventricular fibrillation."

The nurse's words prompted the director to immediately start performing external cardiac massage on the patient, trying to pull the patient back from the brink of death.

Having been pulled outside the emergency room by a nurse, Mo Jingchun was trembling all over, completely at a loss about what to do, his mind a total blank, in a complete state of bewilderment.

Everything happened far too suddenly. They say that tomorrow and accidents are unpredictable, yet Mo Jingchun never imagined that an accident would come for his mother.

After paying the fees, Mo Jingchun sat limply outside the emergency room door, his hands and feet cold.

Mo Jingchun dared not imagine what he and his sister would do if their mother was no longer there.

Ascites! Upon just searching for the cause on his phone, Mo Jingchun broke down completely.

He should have noticed something was wrong with his mother's health!

Since shortly after his sister's birth, Mo Jingchun had noticed his mother's belly was larger than usual, innocently thinking it was a normal phenomenon.

It's not Mo Jingchun's fault for thinking this way, because everyone's constitution is different, and many women have large bellies after giving birth.

Not only Mo Jingchun, but even his mother herself had not realized anything was wrong.

When Mo Jingchun found his mother unconscious and his sister crying in the morning, he discovered his mother's belly was alarmingly swollen.

At the service desk at the emergency room entrance, two nurses looked at the confused Mo Jingchun and sighed. They've seen too much life and death, too many types of patients' family members, and have become numb.

But seeing the eighteen-year-old Mo Jingchun at the emergency room entrance, they couldn't help but feel heartache, unable to imagine how a fresh high school graduate, still a child himself, could take care of a young baby.

"Family of patient Zhou Wan."

As soon as there was movement at the emergency room door, Mo Jingchun immediately stood up.

"Doctor, how's my mom?"

"It's too late; we've done our best."

"Go see your mom for one last time."

At the doctor's words, Mo Jingchun felt as if struck by a thunderbolt, unable to accept this reality.

At the bedside, Mo Jingchun desperately clung to his mother's arm, trying to wake her, but no matter how he cried, the familiar figure on the bed remained motionless.

"My mom... will she wake up later?"

"No. Right now, her vital signs are only being maintained by machines. Once the machines are disconnected, she will be gone."

At the doctor's words, Mo Jingchun could only continuously shed tears, his nose sore, at a loss for words.

In the tranquil night, moonlight cast over the land, creating an enormous, beautiful painting.

Under the clear moonlight, the tear streaks on Mo Jingchun's face were plainly visible, and upon closer look, traces of starlight were seen in the corners of his eyes.

Suddenly, as if electrocuted, Mo Jingchun's body jerked slightly.

The next second, Mo Jingchun opened his eyes and instinctively turned to the small figure to his right, reaching out a hand to feel his sister's breath.

Thank goodness, the little one was still peacefully asleep.

Without any desire to sleep, Mo Jingchun sat in bed dazed; it wasn't the first time he'd dreamt of his mother's death scene.

Every time he woke from such dreams, sleepless nights were inevitable.

Since his mother's passing, a transparent panel had appeared in his mind on the same day, which Mo Jingchun never had time to thoroughly study.

With the help of relatives and neighbors, Mo Jingchun finally managed to deal with his mother's last rites and then took time to carefully research the system.

The system, named the Black Technology Lottery System, gave Mo Jingchun missions through which he could earn points, redeemable for lottery draws, with prizes being various types of black technology or a chance to win nothing.

To Mo Jingchun, who had just graduated high school a little over a month ago, this so-called chance wasn't a modest one.

Host: Mo Jingchun

Age: 18

Points: 0 (for redeeming lottery opportunities)

Lucky draw chances: 1 (from newbie package, guaranteed win!)

System warehouse: None

Task: None

Besides the panel, there was a familiar gigantic lottery wheel—it was familiar because Mo Jingchun had seen similar ones in supermarkets, though the system's wheel was much larger, and the prizes were various black technologies.

There were so many prizes on the wheel that Mo Jingchun felt dizzy, recognizing some black technologies, while others were completely unheard of.

Looking at his still-sleeping sister Candy and the bright moon outside the window, Mo Jingchun took a deep breath and made a decision.

"System, I want to use the newbie lucky draw chance."

"Dear Host, please confirm if you wish to use the newbie guaranteed win lucky draw chance."

"Use it!"

In Mo Jingchun's mind, the transparent panel transformed into a giant lottery wheel. Slowly, the pointer on the wheel began to spin, and his heart raced.

Watching the pointer sweep past one black technology after another, Mo Jingchun clenched his fists nervously.

Finally, to Mo Jingchun's disbelief, the pointer stopped directly at the bottom, as if influenced by Blue Star's gravity?

"Congratulations, dear host, for winning the AI Assistant's first-generation Jarvis source code."

"Would the host like to claim it now?"

Mo Jingchun did not immediately claim it. Winning such an exciting AI assistant, he couldn't help but be thrilled, especially since his first choice of major was Software Engineering at Jing University, and his acceptance letter was on the way.

However, Mo Jingchun was clear-headed and immediately questioned the system.

"System, does the draw pointer always stop at the bottom of the lucky draw wheel?"

"No, this was just a coincidence."

Mo Jingchun was slightly disappointed, realizing that if the lottery pointer stopped at the same position every time, it wouldn't be called the Black Technology Lottery System.

"System, claim the prize."

A flood of information rushed into Mo Jingchun's mind, consisting of line after line of code and various algorithmic formulas.

The sudden influx of information felt like needles stabbing into Mo Jingchun's brain—painful enough to make him gasp.

"Hiss~~~"
