Seeing Zamasu flee, Goku didn't pursue him.
No matter how fast Zamasu ran, he was the one losing out, not Goku.
This guy had just lost a combatant of the Herald Douluo level—and even had his tail broken in the process.
Perhaps that tail breaking was for the best; wasn't he about to awaken Super Saiyan? Well, let him awaken.
Meanwhile, things were far from smooth for Tang San and the others.
"Quick! Stop that glowing beam!" Tang San wove the Blue Silver Grass into a massive net, attempting to intercept the ki blast Zamasu had fired before leaving.
The result was obvious: a ki-based attack? That tiny Blue Silver Grass was utterly incapable of stopping it.
The moment the ki blast touched the net, it was like a flaming rod stabbing a pile of paper—unstoppable, utterly uncontainable.
"Everyone, get out of the way! Xiao Wu, run!" Tang San shouted, grabbing Xiao Wu's hand and using the Ghost Shadow Stepping to pull her aside.
"Holy crap! This is suicide!"
Ma Hongjun shook his plump body as he ran, shivering all over, constantly glancing back at the ki blast bearing down on him.
"Damn it, why did I even come out here? That thing hitting me will absolutely shred me to pieces!" Ma Hongjun thought, his eyes full of despair.
As a Soul Master, he could vaguely sense the energy behind the enemy's abilities.
Yet Ma Hongjun felt nothing about the raw strength—it was a fear rooted deep in his bones, screaming: If that hits you, you're dead!
Oscar's eyes went blank, legs trembling, powerless, frozen in place.
Now Oscar had no goals to strive for. Even Ning Rongrong, whom he had just met today, revealed this side of herself.
A chill ran through him.
The immense aura of Zamasu's attack paralyzed him.
Even Dai Mubai was either fleeing or had fled. At this moment, the bonds within Shrek weren't that deep; most were mere acquaintances.
The ones with some level of trust—Dai Mubai, Oscar, Ma Hongjun—were not so close as to sacrifice themselves for one another.
Boom!
Zamasu's yellow ki blast exploded in midair.
The scattered golden flames rained over the battlefield.
Anyone hit felt countless tiny steel needles prickling their skin, searing with pain.
"S… saved…?" Oscar's hollow eyes regained a glimmer of life.
"That surge of energy… why…" Tang San activated his Violet Extreme Magic Eyes, carefully scanning the surroundings.
A force that powerful could not have exploded without reason. He worried there might still be enemies nearby.
"Never seen this before…" Goku smirked.
He had clearly been the one who threw the invisible ki sphere that caused the blast to collide and explode.
Goku gently descended, holding Zhu Zhuqing in his arms.
"That… that weird guy? Has he left?" Zhu Zhuqing asked once they landed safely.
Zamasu was the kind of monstrous strength that, if he returned, they might not survive a second encounter.
"He escaped," Goku replied.
"So we don't have to worry… for now," Goku said, pinching Zhu Zhuqing's cheek to reassure her.
"What if he comes back? With his strength, a sneak attack… we wouldn't stand a chance!" Zhu Zhuqing adjusted her messy hair, speaking softly.
The aura just now had practically fluffed her hair into a fierce, spiky mess, like an angry little cat.
"If he dares come back, I'll just kill him again," Goku said, frowning, eyes sharp.
But killing him might not be possible. If Zamasu returned with a bodyguard, he could potentially revive.
They didn't know how many he could control, but as long as Zamasu brought one bodyguard at a time, he would have a chance to revive.
Killing him directly was nearly impossible unless they eliminated the bodyguard first—but then Zamasu might have new tricks.
Zamasu's abilities were strange beyond measure, his soul techniques either illusory, escape-oriented, or life-draining to increase his power.
Everything about him was bizarre.
"We can only pray for our luck…" Zhu Zhuqing whispered, her spirits low, though she tried to hide it.
Every time Goku left her side, trouble seemed to follow.
Tang Hao, now Zamasu… it felt like everyone was gunning for him.
Was this the kind of tribulation a deity faced when arriving in another world?
Goku noticed Zhu Zhuqing's somber mood and asked immediately, "What's wrong? Something bothering you?"
"It's just that… every time you're away, trouble comes!" Zhu Zhuqing's voice held a trace of worry.
"Is this some kind of trial for a god in a foreign world?" she softly asked, biting her lip.
Goku twitched. Uh… what do I say to that?
Was this some setup by the author? Or a cosmic trial for travelers? Maybe the system was meddling…
Speaking of which, he still needed to scold this system. Super Saiyan, such power, and yet suppressed in the Douluo world? Ridiculous.
Sigh. No time to argue now—he'd ask the system next check-in.
"Uh… how… do I explain this?" Goku muttered awkwardly, unsure how to reply.
Zhu Zhuqing noticed his unease and placed her jade-arm on his neck, gazing into his eyes.
"Let's…" she whispered, "let's hide away together. I don't want you to get hurt like this again. You're strong enough to protect yourself."
"Let's find a place with no one, quietly train, and emerge when we're stronger."
She hesitated, but it was for Goku's safety; she didn't want to hide otherwise.
She hadn't yet proved her worth before the entire Youming family. She hadn't defeated her sister, nor broken her engagement to the Xingluo royal family. So many things remained unfinished.
But after these two incidents, she couldn't bear to see Goku harmed again.
Hearing her words, Goku was stunned. The usually strong-willed little cat had said such a thing.
He took her jade-arm from around his neck, holding it to his chest, and said tenderly, "Zhuqing, you usually wouldn't say something like this…"
"I know you worry about me, but trust me! As long as I'm alive, I won't let anyone harm you or threaten you…"
