Facing Tang Hao's furious strike, Du Gu Bo could hardly hold his ground; the barrier above his head cracked like a spiderweb.
Watching from a distance, Tang San was overjoyed—Du Gu Bo was about to die, and the Ice-Fire Two Polarity Eyes were right there!
The old poison master didn't know the value of the treasure and had only let it gather dust.
Only he could truly unleash the power of the Ice-Fire Two Polarity Eyes!
"Du Gu Bo! What happened to the herbs planted in the ice?" Tang San asked urgently, desperate to know the whereabouts of the immortal-grade herbs.
Du Gu Bo gritted his teeth, struggling to stay upright. Murderous intent flickered in his eyes as he glared at Tang San. "You little brat! Dare you try to steal my herbs? Let me tell you the truth—those herbs, I gave them away!"
"To whom?" Tang Hao asked in a deep voice, easing the pressure slightly, which allowed Du Gu Bo to catch a breath.
Du Gu Bo laughed heartily. "I said I gave them away, and I did! As for who received them… you two have no right to interfere!"
With that, Tang Hao's face darkened. He gripped the Hao Tian Hammer again, unleashing overwhelming pressure upon Du Gu Bo.
With a single strike, Du Gu Bo was hurled backward!
He landed, coughing up blood, weak and breathless.
Struggling to rise and wiping the blood from his mouth, Du Gu Bo sneered bitterly: "Tang San, Tang Hao… you two are insatiably greedy! The mighty Hao Tian Douluo resorting to killing for treasures! If my guess is correct, once I'm dead, my territory will bear the 'Tang' name, right?"
Tang San's face instantly fell at being publicly exposed.
Tang Hao, however, remained resolute midair, his expression icy; Du Gu Bo to him was already a corpse in all but name.
"Du Gu Bo, I'll give you one last chance. Tell me who received the herbs, give your residence to my son as compensation, and swear never to oppose him again, and I may spare your life. How about it?"
Du Gu Bo looked upon the floating Tang Hao, disgust creeping in. Today, he truly saw the father-son duo for what they were—it was nauseating.
He forced himself upright, meeting Tang Hao's gaze without bowing. "I, Du Gu Bo, have killed countless people. Today I die, yes—but to die by your hand is unworthy, utterly unworthy!"
Tang Hao frowned. "So you refuse to speak?"
Tang Hao's arrogance reached its peak; the half-sky seemed stained crimson. Ice-cold killing intent filled the air as the temperature dropped sharply.
Du Gu Bo sneered, pointing at Tang Hao's nose. "Not only will I not tell, but as long as I live, I swear by my Martial Soul, I will oppose you and your son! Whenever I encounter the Hao Tian clan, I shall kill one, two if I must, until your entire clan is wiped out!"
Du Gu Bo's oath echoed through the forest, lingering for a long while.
Tang Hao trembled; Du Gu Bo had touched his bottom line.
"Du Gu Bo, die!"
Tang Hao's Hao Tian Hammer, red and vast, descended upon Du Gu Bo.
Tang San, watching, sighed. Du Gu Bo could die, but the whereabouts of the immortal herbs were still unknown. Surely, they were on him. If Du Gu Bo fell, perhaps they could be extracted.
This was Tang San's thought.
Du Gu Bo, drained of all soul power, instinctively raised his hands to meet death. Suddenly, two huge hands lifted the full force of Tang Hao's strike for him.
Seeing the two familiar faces, Du Gu Bo was stunned. "Ju Hua Guan? Old Ghost? How… how did you come?"
Du Gu Bo could not believe it; these two had once nearly killed him!
"Don't call me Ju Hua Guan!" the former scowled, but then thought better of it—Du Gu Bo was no longer an enemy, but a colleague.
"Call me whatever you want."
Du Gu Bo was shocked; this was hardly the Ju Hua Guan he remembered.
"So, old poison master, already struggling to endure?" the ghostly figure smiled ambiguously.
Du Gu Bo rolled his eyes. "You talk without pain. Try taking on Tang Hao yourselves!"
Ju Hua Guan and the ghostly figure exchanged glances, then simultaneously laughed: "Fine! Old poison master, watch closely!"
Nine soul rings lit beneath their feet. The Hao Tian Hammer above was flipped over; the ghostly figure turned into a black shadow diving into the ground, while Ju Hua Guan wielded the Martial Soul Wonder Fungus, a golden tornado of petals twisting toward Tang Hao.
Seeing them, memories of sacrifices at A Yin flashed before Tang Hao's eyes.
He went mad—these former underlings had grown as strong as he was.
The ghostly figure suddenly launched an attack, pressing toward Tang Hao.
"Ju Hua Guan, your memory is poor. Tang Hao is no longer part of the Hao Tian clan. Like that proud Yù Xiao Gang, he's been abandoned!"
Fury surged within Tang Hao; the Hao Tian Hammer glowed red.
"I will silence you forever!"
Tang Hao swung the giant hammer, but the ghostly figure evaded effortlessly. Ghostly claws manifested in midair, reaching for him like demonic hands from the underworld.
Du Gu Bo swallowed hard.
He had faced Ju Hua Guan and the ghostly figure years ago, yet now, their strength rivaled Tang Hao.
Tang Hao retreated, showing signs of defeat, spitting blood.
Ju Hua Guan and the ghostly figure, long-time partners, fought seamlessly in tandem.
Tang Hao staggered, bloodied.
Having already drained some of his soul power against Du Gu Bo, Tang Hao now struggled against the duo. If Bi Bi Dong arrived, things could turn worse!
"The pain of losing a wife is nothing. Let's let him experience the pain of losing a child too!"
The ghostly figure's suggestion resonated with Ju Hua Guan and Du Gu Bo, turning their focus on Tang San, hidden behind a tree.
Tang San froze, trembling. Trapped between three Douluo, his legs felt like jelly.
In desperation, Tang San unleashed hidden weapons.
Countless white lights flashed in the night sky, but the effect was negligible.
Du Gu Bo's poisonous Phosphorescent Serpent Needle dissolved every silver dart in an instant.
"This is your hidden weapon?"
Du Gu Bo crushed a silver needle, sneering. "Hidden weapons? Tools of the devious, wielded by scoundrels."
Tang San fumed but had no choice.
If hidden weapons failed, then Martial Soul it was.
Three blue-silver grass soul rings appeared beneath his feet, sprouting to bind the three attackers.
The ghostly figure crushed them easily. "Blue-silver Grass? Worthless! Just like your useless master!"
"Not only worthless, but devious! Murdering for treasures!" Ju Hua Guan's golden storm shredded the grass.
"Such a man does not deserve to live," Du Gu Bo's voice was cold.
"Old poison master, we owe you no thanks. Who would've thought we'd cooperate again!"
"The future is long," Ju Hua Guan smiled faintly; the ghostly figure just smiled.
Du Gu Bo scratched his head, puzzled by their intentions.
Tang San almost exploded with rage—he had never felt so humiliated! If only his power were enough… he wanted them all dead!
Suddenly, Tang Hao appeared, shielding his son, swinging the Hao Tian Hammer.
The combined strike from three Douluo sent Tang Hao flying.
"Dad!"
Tang San cried, filled with rage.
"Xiao San! Run!" Tang Hao shouted.
Now was the last chance! The nine soul rings of the Hao Tian Hammer spun wildly.
"Not if Tang Hao has anything to say!"
Ju Hua Guan and the ghostly figure used Martial Soul Fusion: the Two-Polar Stasis Realm, straining under the nine-ringed Hao Tian Hammer.
"Old poison master! Now!" Ju Hua Guan shouted.
Du Gu Bo seized the chance, unleashing the Phosphorescent Serpent Poison toward Tang Hao.
Tang Hao could do nothing, forced to endure. Seizing the gap, Du Gu Bo swung down—
"Ahhh!!"
Tang San watched in horror. Tang Hao's right arm was severed, blood spraying, fingers limp.
"Old poison master, retreat! We can't hold much longer!" Ju Hua Guan shouted.
Du Gu Bo escaped. Ju Hua Guan and the ghostly figure withdrew, taking Tang Hao's severed arm with them.
"Boom!"
The forest lit up like day, black night shattered.
Soul beasts scattered, chaos erupted.
…
Inside the Ice-Fire Two Polarity Eyes, Ju Hua Guan, the ghostly figure, and Du Gu Bo regrouped. Du Gu Bo was gravely injured, his soul power depleted.
"Do as you wish," he said quietly.
"Why say that?" Ju Hua Guan asked.
"The treasure… isn't it why you saved me?" Du Gu Bo pointed to the Ice-Fire Two Polarity Eyes, the coveted site Tang Hao had desired.
Now facing Douluo-level foes, Du Gu Bo was certain of his imminent death.
Yet, Ju Hua Guan and the ghostly figure were unmoved.
"We won't kill you," the ghostly figure said.
"What?" Du Gu Bo was dumbfounded. Six years ago, they hunted him relentlessly.
Now, another six years later, had they changed?
"We are enemies of Tang Hao. You are also his enemy. The enemy of my enemy is my friend," Ju Hua Guan explained.
"I am no friend of yours!" Du Gu Bo retorted.
The ghostly figure shook his head.
The two left.
Du Gu Bo was puzzled. "What's happening to everyone?"
"Never mind. I survived; there's fortune ahead. Tang San, Tang Hao, we'll meet again!"
Closing his eyes, Du Gu Bo sat to heal.
In a hidden forest nook, Tang Hao, exhausted and missing an arm, found refuge in a tree hollow, likely a soul beast's den emptied by the earlier hammer strike.
"Dad!" Tang San wept. He knew his father had protected him.
"Du Gu Bo, I swear I will kill you! And them! Everyone!" Tang San vowed silently.
"Xiao San, Dad's fine," Tang Hao whispered, poisoned by the Phosphorescent Serpent Poison.
Tang San treated him quickly. The poison, though deadly, could be countered.
After a simple cure, Tang Hao's color returned slightly.
But he had lost his right arm, soul power dropped to 89th level, and the clan's inheritance soul bone was gone—a fate worse than death for a clan man like Tang Hao.
He wanted to cry but held back for his son.
"Xiao San! Who were those Douluo that saved Du Gu Bo?"
"Too early to tell. When you reach Soul Emperor, then you'll know," Tang Hao said firmly.
"Soul… Soul Emperor…"
Tang San felt powerless. A mere Soul Master, three levels away from Soul Emperor, would have to wait.
Suddenly, Tang Hao coughed up green blood. Tang San panicked and began urgent treatment.
The Phosphorescent Serpent Poison had invaded Tang Hao's body, impossible to fully expel.
"Du Gu Bo! I will kill you!" Tang San seethed.
"Xiao San… Dad…" Tang Hao's voice was weak, ravaged by poison.
Yet Tang San realized a possible solution.
"Dad, perhaps a treasure can cure you."
"What treasure?" Tang Hao's eyes lit up.
"The immortal-grade herbs I mentioned earlier," Tang San said.
"Immortal-grade herbs?" Tang Hao was intrigued. Rare and ancient, they could greatly enhance strength.
"But Du Gu Bo already gave them away. Who would have received them?" Tang Hao despaired.
"No, Dad. I think I might know who took them," Tang San said, coming to a conclusion.
If correct, the immortal-grade herbs had fallen into his hands.
