Chapter 117 - Confessing to Zhu Zhuqing

Shrek Academy had launched an all-out attack this time, suffering heavy losses, with Yu Xiaogang taking an even worse beating.

At this moment, Yu Xiaogang's body was once again wrapped in fresh bandages, and three fellow patients had gathered around him:

Flander, Liu Erlong, and Ma Hongjun.

The Golden Iron Triangle was completely sidelined!

"Where's Xiao San? What happened to him?"

Upon hearing that Tang San had been crushed by the Dark Devil Tiger, Yu Xiaogang couldn't help but ask about his condition.

"He was saved by a mysterious person in a black robe," Xiao Wu said tearfully.

"A mysterious person in a black robe?"

At this, Yu Xiaogang finally breathed a sigh of relief. Since Tang Hao had intervened, he could rest easy.

"Zhou Sidong! You hurt my disciple, and I won't let this go easily!"

Yu Xiaogang's rage was futile—he could only lie in bed and shout his threats.

Everyone present looked grim. They had originally thought that sheer numbers could crush Zhou Sidong and snatch the divine-grade herbs from him.

Zhou Sidong had a grudge against them, and against Shrek Academy as a whole. Asking for a few herbs as compensation shouldn't have been unreasonable.

"But the herbs are gone! My life is ruined!"

Yu Xiaogang wept bitterly, unable to move in bed, tears silently streaming down his cheeks. Liu Erlong, lying beside him, couldn't help but feel his heart ache.

"Xiaogang…" Liu Erlong's mood was heavy. His beloved was now wrecked, shattered by Dugu Bo without mercy!

"Director? What should we do next?" Ma Hongjun, still lying down, seemed restless.

"What else can we do?" Flander glared at him, voice sharp. "Recover first. After our injuries heal, we'll settle the score with Zhou Sidong. That guy got lucky enough to be recognized by the Dark Devil Tiger! Life's so unfair! How can someone like that deserve anything?"

"Dark Devil Tiger…"

Yu Xiaogang knew almost nothing about such a soul beast. He had even doubted its existence.

Mentions of the Dark Devil Tiger were only found in ancient texts; no one had ever encountered one in reality.

Yet this time, Shrek Academy had not only encountered it, but almost met death at its paws!

Yue Xuan.

Tang Hao sat outside on a chair, staring at the room nearby, sinking into silence. His left hand clenched tightly, his heart heavy at the memory of his son's suffering. Tears streamed down, more painful than when he had lost his wife.

"Second brother, who hurt my nephew so badly?" The woman couldn't hide her fury.

"Zhou Sidong," Tang Hao said helplessly, voice grim.

"Zhou Sidong? Who is he? Where is he now?" She asked urgently.

"He's a student of the Royal Tian Dou Academy. Xiao San went to him for herbs to treat his teacher's injury. But Zhou Sidong showed no mercy—he gave the herbs to a small black cat. Later I discovered that black cat was actually a Dark Devil Tiger over fifty thousand years old!" Tang Hao shuddered at the memory.

He had already witnessed countless miracles through Zhou Sidong.

And his own son, with dual martial souls, had six years of cultivation without any opportunity—and now this misfortune piled on.

First, he was captured by Dugu Bo, nearly killed, leaving Tang Hao with a severed arm.

Then, he went to Royal Tian Dou Academy to request the divine-grade herbs from Zhou Sidong, only to be ambushed by the Dark Devil Tiger and thrown into chaos, leaving Tang Hao severely injured.

"A student of Royal Tian Dou Academy?" The woman pondered. "Why did my nephew ask that Zhou… right, Zhou Sidong, for herbs?"

Facing her doubt, Tang Hao didn't hold back. "Yue Hua, to be honest, Xiao San was previously captured by Dugu Bo, almost killed. I paid a heavy price to rescue him."

His right arm was empty now, the soul bone gone. Tang Hao felt like he'd swallowed a bitter pill, and his hatred for the Martial Soul Hall deepened.

"Dugu Bo?" Yue Hua, his niece's aunt, fainted in shock. Her nephew's fate was tragic indeed.

"Second brother, are you hurt?" She hurried forward, concern etched across her face. After so many years, to see her once-mighty brother reduced to this… pitiful and lamentable.

"No… I'm fine." Tang Hao shook his head dully, fully focused on his son.

But Yue Hua was not satisfied. Her brows furrowed, sensing something hidden.

Her brother had been acting strangely ever since he arrived.

And he seemed to be hiding something when he brought Xiao San.

Quickly, she seized the moment, lifting Tang Hao's robe.

The sight before her made her heart shatter.

Tang Hao's right arm was gone; the sleeve had been cut off. No arm, no need for a sleeve.

"Second brother, you…" She covered her face, crying uncontrollably.

Both father and son had suffered immeasurably.

Tang Hao's right arm gone, Tang San's bones broken throughout—had the Dark Devil Tiger struck again, Tang San would have died on the spot.

"It's alright… it's all past now."

Tang Hao gradually let go, his focus entirely on his son, hoping one day he would grow strong and personally destroy the Martial Soul Hall, avenging them both.

After a moment of sadness, Yue Hua wiped her tears and asked, "What happened next?"

"Afterwards, I joined forces with his teacher and the director to rescue him. Along the way, we encountered a great opportunity!" Tang Hao said, a spark of excitement in his voice.

"What kind of opportunity?" she asked.

"A herb that could rapidly enhance a soul master's power. Xiao San called it divine-grade herbs. Such herbs are incredibly rare—even I had never heard of them. Though I didn't know how Xiao San learned of them, I was thrilled upon hearing. But when we arrived, someone else had already claimed them… and that someone was Zhou Sidong!"

Tang Hao's teeth itched with rage, wishing he could storm the Royal Tian Dou Academy right now.

"So Xiao San sought the divine-grade herbs, but they had already been taken by Zhou Sidong, and that's why he confronted him?" Yue Hua deduced.

"Yes." Tang Hao nodded, clenching his left fist, cursing the unfairness of the world.

"Second brother, if the herbs belonged to Zhou Sidong, then it's his right. But my nephew was hurt because of it. This involves you," Yue Hua said bluntly.

"Involves me?" Tang Hao was stunned.

As a father, and a former Title Douluo, now a Soul Douluo, he had failed his son.

"I'll settle this with Zhou Sidong sooner or later!" Tang Hao's anger surged.

"Second brother… did you never care for your child?" Yue Hua's sudden question left Tang Hao dumbfounded.

He remained silent.

"Alright, I know the answer."

Yue Hua understood him well. After his wife died, he had been too lost to properly care for his son. That the child survived at all was a miracle.

"Coveting another's treasure, joining forces with teachers to seize it… Second brother, that's no different from murder for gain."

Her words struck deep.

Tang Hao couldn't help but say, "Yue Hua! Zhou Sidong repeatedly provoked my son—even in Suotuo City! I wanted to kill him then! But he was guarded by a Title Douluo, the Seventh Offering of the Martial Soul Hall—the Demon-Slaying Douluo."

"Seventh Offering Demon-Slaying Douluo? Zhou Sidong belongs to the Martial Soul Hall?"

Hearing this, Yue Hua's face darkened.

Yue Hua, eldest daughter of Haotian Sect, was Tang Hao's full sister.

"Not obvious now, but his parents hold key positions in the Martial Soul Hall at Tian Dou City. If Zhou Sidong knows the Demon-Slaying Douluo, there's only one possibility…"

"The seventh offering's disciple?" Yue Hua guessed.

"Yes, that's the only explanation," Tang Hao nodded.

"Then why would Xiao San engage in murder-for-herbs activities?" Yue Hua frowned, blaming her irresponsible brother.

If she had raised her nephew, he would have had the best resources and guidance—not a small village life.

"According to my observation, the Demon-Slaying Douluo had already left. Only Zhou Sidong's family remained in Tian Dou City. The night before Xiao San went to Royal Tian Dou Academy, I discussed the matter with his teacher," Tang Hao explained.

"Teacher?" Yue Hua asked, puzzled. "Who is my nephew's teacher? He is a once-in-a-century dual martial soul!"

"Teacher?" Tang Hao's brows twitched. Was Yu Xiaogang a 'great teacher'?

He had been lenient before—Tang San was once misled by Yu Xiaogang, becoming his disciple despite being a mere level-29 minor soul master! Tang Hao had more than enough skill to teach his son himself.

"Second brother, why aren't you speaking?" Yue Hua asked.

She just wanted to know the teacher's identity. Why this hesitation?

"…"

Tang Hao's heart wavered.

Yu Xiaogang's reputation in Tian Dou City was terrible. His past schemes against Zhou Sidong were widely known, affecting Shrek Academy as well.

Seeing his sister's confused gaze, he sighed. "Xiao San's teacher… is Yu… Xiaogang."

The room froze.

Yue Hua's joyous expression instantly fell. Her irresponsible brother infuriated her further.

"Yu Xiaogang? That charlatan? He's my nephew's teacher?"

"Yes," Tang Hao nodded, revealing nothing.

Yue Hua knew Tian Dou City well—she had certainly heard of Yu Xiaogang. She remembered vaguely when her brother mentioned Zhou Sidong.

"Yu Xiaogang! That fraud who claimed the entire Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon family disappeared, a level-29 soul master—how can he be my nephew's teacher?" Yue Hua fumed.

"Second brother, you must keep Yu Xiaogang away from my nephew!"

Tang Hao shook his head helplessly. "Honestly, I have no words for Yu Xiaogang either. His theories sound good in speech, but they're useless in reality. And if he dares to use them on my son, I'd dare defy the world to strike him down!"

"Second brother, have you considered another possibility?"

Seeing her son's condition, Yue Hua sighed.

"What possibility?" Tang Hao asked.

"If Xiao San is Yu Xiaogang's disciple, then his cultivation these past years followed Yu Xiaogang's path. And Yu Xiaogang's theories…"

No need to say more.

Tang Hao's face darkened.

Tang San's diagnosis had come: fractures throughout his body, fortunately no ruptured tendons, but major damage. He couldn't channel soul power and needed six months' bed rest.

Learning this, Tang Hao sank into gloom, sitting alone, lost in thought. Even Yue Hua's attempts to speak didn't break his silence.

Three months passed.

Bibi Dong packed her luggage at Qian Renxue's residence. Unknowingly, she had spent half a year in Tian Dou City.

Strangely, this Martial Soul Hall Empress, a figure above ten thousand, had lived in Tian Dou City for half a year without being noticed—thanks to Qian Renxue's angel soul bone, perfect disguises, and her changed appearance. Even Ju and the Ghost Douluo were sometimes confused when reporting, seeing her familiar face suddenly foreign.

"All packed! We depart first thing tomorrow!"

Bibi Dong packed her belongings into her soul device, holding old Xiao An in her arms. Seeing the familiar table and chair marks left by her, she prepared to leave—but there was no need to pretend sadness.

She wished to stay with her children, but they must grow. As Empress, she couldn't leave Hu Liena alone in charge.

Elsewhere, Zhou Sidong packed, with Zhu Zhuqing helping.

"Zhuqing, tomorrow I follow my mother home. Why not come with me? You can meet my grandfather too," Zhou Sidong said with a smile.

Zhu Zhuqing had heard of his grandfather—a true powerhouse.

But when she asked, Zhou Sidong was always mysterious, making her fume.

"The academy is on holiday now. Leaving Tian Dou City—do you leave me behind?" Zhu Zhuqing said reluctantly.

"So, you agree?" Zhou Sidong beamed.

"Where else would I go?" she retorted.

Alone in Tian Dou City, Zhu Zhuqing had nowhere else. Home was in Star Luo Empire, not Tian Dou Empire.

So she would return with Zhou Sidong—his home, her future marital home.

At dawn, the carriage carrying the three departed swiftly.

Bibi Dong had not slept well last night. Learning her mother would leave, Qian Renxue had clung to her. After a night together, this morning's farewell was tearful.

Outside the Royal Tian Dou Academy, students hurried out in crowds. Holiday began—they could finally return home.

Hidden in the grass of a mountain, Tang Hao watched the students carefully.

"Not Zhou Sidong… not him either…"

Tang Hao grew anxious. He had planned to ambush Zhou Sidong today, to avenge his son.

But the carriage with Bibi Dong and the others moved on, perfectly missing him. Zhou Sidong had already left the academy three days ago.

Inside the carriage, Bibi Dong, Zhou Sidong, and Zhu Zhuqing sat together.

On the fine carpet below, two small dark creatures slept side by side. Once rulers of the Star Dou Forest, now pets, the Dark Devil Tiger enjoyed this life immensely.

"Zhuqing, there's something I've thought about for a long time… I want to confess to you," Bibi Dong said from the front seat.

"Mom? What is it?" Zhu Zhuqing asked.

Zhou Sidong understood immediately.

Bibi Dong hesitated, then chose honesty.

The carriage was headed to Martial Soul Hall. Once there, the truth would inevitably be revealed.

Better now than later, she decided.

Bibi Dong lifted her right hand and lightly brushed her face. A golden light flashed.

Before Zhu Zhuqing's astonished eyes, a completely unfamiliar yet heroic face appeared.

"This is my true appearance. My previous name was a fake," Bibi Dong said calmly.

The sudden revelation left Zhu Zhuqing stunned.

"So… who are you really?" Zhu Zhuqing asked, glancing at Zhou Sidong for courage.

"Bibi Dong," Bibi Dong replied.
