Nearly a year had passed since the storm caused by the annihilation of the Strength Clan had finally begun to settle.
Now, after Ning Fengzhi, Sword Douluo, and Bone Douluo learned from Tang Yuehua that the Clear Sky Sect had also suffered a calamity—with every disciple in the sect wiped out—not a single survivor among them, the three men abruptly rose from their seats. Their faces were filled with shock and dread, their eyes wide open.
It was almost impossible to believe. The Clear Sky Sect had once been the number one sect on the continent—how could it possibly be destroyed?
Who could possess such terrifying power?
Could it be… the Spirit Hall?
"The Clear Sky Sect… was destroyed…"
Ning Fengzhi took a deep breath, fear evident on his face.
"Madam Yuehua, is this information accurate?"
"Absolutely true," Tang Yuehua replied, her voice trembling. "My second brother and I personally gathered the bodies of our clansmen. If Sect Master Ning does not believe me, you may go to the back mountain of the Clear Sky Sect and see for yourself. That place is now filled with the graves of our disciples."
Every time she recalled the event, Tang Yuehua's heart ached unbearably. Tears streamed down her face, falling like pearls from her eyes.
Seeing her so grief-stricken, Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo exchanged glances. At that very moment, a powerful sense of crisis spread through their entire beings, as if the fate that befell the Strength Clan and the Clear Sky Sect might soon come for them as well.
Ning Fengzhi collapsed back into his seat. This time, his unease was unprecedented—his face filled with terror and fear.
If the destruction of the Strength Clan had merely sounded an alarm bell for him, then the annihilation of the Clear Sky Sect marked the opening of the true prelude.
"The Clear Sky Sect… gone… Heavens! This is simply… unbelievable!"
Bone Douluo pressed his fingers hard against his temples, rubbing them repeatedly. The news struck like a bolt from the blue, dealing an overwhelming blow to the three of them.
Although the fall of the Clear Sky Sect meant that the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect would naturally become the number one sect on the continent, Ning Fengzhi wasn't thinking about that at all. What occupied his mind was a far more terrifying question—who was responsible for destroying the Clear Sky Sect?
Who had such terrifying capability?
"It was the Spirit Hall."
Sword Douluo suddenly spoke. The Seven Slaughter Sword floating behind him began to vibrate, emitting crisp, ominous sounds.
"No, it was not the Spirit Hall."
Tang Yuehua shook her head, tears still clinging to her lashes.
"Not the Spirit Hall?" Sword Douluo exclaimed. "Then who else could it be? On the Douluo Continent, who else could wipe out an entire sect—especially the Clear Sky Sect?"
Sword Douluo's conjecture was overturned, leaving Ning Fengzhi even more shocked.
If it wasn't the Spirit Hall… then who?
"My second brother and I believe that the destruction of the Strength Clan is connected to a single person," Tang Yuehua said, anger rising in her chest as her eyes slowly reddened.
"Who?" ×3
The three spoke in unison.
The main hall of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect fell deathly silent. Ning Fengzhi, Sword Douluo, and Bone Douluo all stared intently at Tang Yuehua, eager to hear the name of the true mastermind. If the sect had the capability, they would rather eliminate the threat in advance.
They would never follow the same path as the Clear Sky Sect and the Strength Clan.
"Zhou Sidong."
When the name left Tang Yuehua's lips, Ning Fengzhi's expression became extraordinarily complex. He seemed at a loss, even wanting to laugh.
"Madam Yuehua, are you joking?" Ning Fengzhi said. "From what I know, Zhou Sidong is merely a Soul Ancestor. He has conflicts with your nephew Tang San and longstanding grudges with Shrek Academy. No matter how deep their enmity, it's impossible for him to wipe out entire sects."
That was Ning Fengzhi's understanding of Zhou Sidong—though clearly not the full picture.
Tang Yuehua raised three fingers, her face solemn.
"Sect Master Ning, I am not joking. I, Tang Yuehua, swear on the souls of the fallen Clear Sky Sect disciples—behind the destruction of both the Clear Sky Sect and the Strength Clan, Zhou Sidong's shadow is undoubtedly present."
Her words immediately drew the full attention of the three men.
"It seems we need to reevaluate Zhou Sidong," Sword Douluo said coldly, gripping the Seven Slaughter Sword, murderous intent flickering in his eyes.
"Madam Yuehua, please continue," Ning Fengzhi said gravely.
At this moment, Ning Fengzhi's expression was extremely serious. Before disaster could strike the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, he needed to know the full truth—not just for the sect, but for himself.
Tang Yuehua wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes and sighed.
"Zhou Sidong's strength is far beyond that of an ordinary Soul Ancestor. My second brother once fought him personally. Back then, Zhou Sidong instigated the Dark Devilgod Tiger to seriously injure my nephew, shattering the bones throughout his body. Afterward, my second brother brought my poor nephew to me, and only after half a year of recuperation did he finally recover."
She paused, her voice heavy.
"But at that critical moment, my second brother took the initiative to contact Titan, the clan leader of the Strength Clan, hoping to join forces and kill Zhou Sidong to avenge my nephew. The result, however, shocked me…"
Ning Fengzhi leaned forward, listening intently, though his hands hidden in his sleeves were already drenched in sweat.
"Not only were Titan and his son defeated, but even my second brother nearly lost his life. In the end, he was forced to flee to preserve his existence."
After finishing, Tang Yuehua looked utterly exhausted.
Fortunately, Tang Hao had retreated in time. Otherwise, even if Tang Yuehua knew who the enemy was, she would have been powerless to avenge the hundreds of lives lost in her sect.
That was why, in seeking cooperation with the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Tang Yuehua had taken a gamble. She deliberately concealed the fact that Tang Hao had been crippled—revealing it would only make Ning Fengzhi regret helping, ultimately ruining the negotiation.
"How is that possible?" Bone Douluo exclaimed. "Does Zhou Sidong have someone backing him? I've heard he's a disciple of Spirit Hall's Seventh Offering, the Demon-Conquering Douluo."
Bone Douluo could no longer remain calm. He turned to Ning Fengzhi and transmitted his voice with soul power:
"Fengzhi, this matter is extremely serious. With the Clear Sky Sect and Strength Clan destroyed in succession, if what Madam Yuehua says is true, we cannot afford to sit idle."
"Let her finish first," Ning Fengzhi replied.
On the surface, Ning Fengzhi appeared calm and composed, but inside, waves of shock were surging violently.
"Madam Yuehua, what makes you so certain?" he asked, his face full of worry.
"Zhou Sidong possesses a martial soul fusion skill," Tang Yuehua said slowly. "With it, he can temporarily elevate his strength to the level of a Titled Douluo."
"A Titled Douluo…" Ning Fengzhi murmured. "Such an inconceivable thing actually exists."
He stroked his chin thoughtfully.
"Zhou Sidong… I truly find you harder and harder to see through."
Whether it was Zhou Sidong obtaining a ten-thousand-year fourth soul ring after only three days in the Sunset Forest, or everything Tang Yuehua had just revealed, each detail made the three men feel as if they were facing a terrifying enemy.
Tang Yuehua continued, her voice heavy:
"Moreover, Zhou Sidong also possesses the Angel Domain."
This was the most critical point.
"What did you say? Zhou Sidong has the Angel Domain?!" Sword Douluo shot to his feet, his left hand gripping the Seven Slaughter Sword tightly.
Once upon a time, Sword Douluo's father had been defeated by a peerless ninety-nine–rank Titled Douluo.
Upon hearing that Zhou Sidong possessed the Angel Domain, Sword Douluo could no longer remain calm. The killing intent in his eyes surged uncontrollably.
The man who had defeated Sword Douluo's grandfather was none other than Zhou Sidong's grandfather—Qian Daoliu—who had crushed a ninety-eight–rank opponent with ninety-nine–rank soul power.
That level was, without exaggeration, the pinnacle of the Douluo Continent.
After learning so much about Zhou Sidong, Ning Fengzhi and the two Douluo fell completely silent. Their expressions were complicated, filled with fear and unease.
If the destruction of the Clear Sky Sect and the Strength Clan truly had something to do with Zhou Sidong, then what about the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect…
Danger lurked everywhere.
After a long silence, Ning Fengzhi let out a sigh.
"Madam Yuehua, the dead are gone—please do not grieve further. I thank you for taking the time to inform us of these matters. However… how exactly do you wish to cooperate with us?"
"It's very simple," Tang Yuehua replied. "The Continental Advanced Soul Master Elite Tournament is currently in full swing. My nephew and Zhou Sidong are sworn enemies. I do not ask Sect Master Ning to kill Zhou Sidong—only that during the tournament, you protect my nephew's safety. If anyone attempts to kill him, I hope you will show mercy and intervene."
Given her request, Ning Fengzhi had little reason to refuse.
The Clear Sky Sect was already destroyed, and the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect needed to prepare early. Tang Yuehua had come to warn them and seek protection—it would be improper to decline.
Besides, merely protecting Tang San was well within the sect's capabilities.
Before fully understanding Zhou Sidong's background, acting rashly would be unwise. What if Zhou Sidong had no intention of targeting the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect at all?
Seeing Ning Fengzhi agree, Tang Yuehua finally let out a sigh of relief.
After a few more polite exchanges, Ning Fengzhi personally escorted Tang Yuehua to the sect's entrance. Watching her carriage disappear into the distance, the three men let out a deep sigh.
"The once number one sect on the continent… gone," Sword Douluo said quietly. "And to think this happened over a year ago."
"Fengzhi," Bone Douluo said, "now that the Clear Sky Sect is gone, our Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect is the undisputed number one. Tang Yuehua came asking us to protect her nephew—I think you shouldn't have agreed so readily."
"And what is your suggestion, Bone Uncle?" Ning Fengzhi asked.
"The Clear Sky Sect has become history. Tang Yuehua stands alone now—even with Tang Hao's support, it's still not enough. Her goal is obvious: protect Tang San. They've placed all their hopes on him."
"That is indeed her intention," Sword Douluo nodded. "But don't forget—Tang San's hidden weapons have greatly benefited our sect. And he's a twin martial soul holder with limitless potential."
"That potential only matters if he survives," Bone Douluo countered. "What if Zhou Sidong kills him by accident?"
The two Douluo locked horns once again.
This kind of argument had gone on for decades—had they really not grown tired of it?
"Enough!" Ning Fengzhi said sharply. "This matter is settled. I've already promised Madam Yuehua to protect Tang San, and that decision will not change. Tang San has greatly helped our sect—his hidden weapons have significantly increased our combat strength. With the Clear Sky Sect gone, it will be difficult for us to stay neutral. Only by joining forces with Tang Hao can we resolve what lies ahead."
With Ning Fengzhi's final word, Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo fell silent.
"Storm clouds are gathering," Ning Fengzhi sighed. "I only hope the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect can stay out of the chaos."
The three turned and walked away, their figures gradually disappearing into the depths of the sect.
Sunset Forest
The slaughter continued.
Liu Erlong's eyes were bloodshot as scorching dragon flames poured from her mouth, instantly reducing hordes of soul beasts to ashes.
"Any soul bones?" Yu Xiaogang asked anxiously, as if the deaths of these soul beasts were entirely justified.
Under Yu Xiaogang's expectant gaze, Liu Erlong slowly shook her head.
"Not yet. This is the fiftieth one I've killed. The probability of soul bone drops is just too low."
Indeed, the drop rate of soul bones from ordinary soul beasts was less than one in a thousand—perhaps even lower. Trying to obtain soul bones through mass slaughter was exhausting, backbreaking work.
"Alright then—keep going, Erlong!" Yu Xiaogang said, disappointment evident.
From morning until sunset, they hadn't obtained a single soul bone, making Yu Xiaogang wonder if his luck was truly this terrible.
Suddenly, Flanders' voice rang out from behind.
"Found one! A soul bone!"
Yu Xiaogang's body jolted as he hurriedly had Tang San push him toward Flanders.
"Flanders! What kind of soul bone? What's the age?"
Flanders grinned, holding a bone-like object glowing with firelight. Pointing at the Magic Fire Jiao beneath his feet, he said,
"It's a thirty-year Magic Fire Jiao spinal bone. Among the six major soul bones, the spine is the most valuable—unfortunately, the age is only thirty years…"
His face showed regret.
"Only thirty years…" Yu Xiaogang waved his hand. "Give it to Ma Hongjun. His Evil Fire Phoenix martial soul matches fire attributes well."
With that, the plan to hunt soul beasts and seize soul bones continued.
Yu Xiaogang was wheeled away by Tang San, leaving behind a stunned Flanders clutching the soul bone, anger burning in his chest.
"Your disciple is a disciple—are mine not? Just because you wrote some so-called 'Ten Core Competencies of Martial Souls' you think you're a master? In the eyes of the Spirit Hall and the world, you're nothing but a fraud—deceptive and despicable!"
Cursing silently, Flanders flicked his sleeve and continued deeper into the forest.
Night fell, darkness enveloping the Sunset Forest.
Flames lit up the forest as soul beast corpses burned under Liu Erlong's dragon fire. Suddenly, a shimmering object caught Yu Xiaogang's attention.
"Teacher, it's a soul bone!" Tang San exclaimed, quickly picking it up.
"Let me see!" Yu Xiaogang said eagerly.
By nightfall, their second soul bone finally appeared.
"Oh? What a pity—it's a fifty-year Crimson Viper head soul bone. Not suitable for you. Give it to Mubai when we return," Yu Xiaogang decided with a wave of his hand.
His disciple's soul bones had to be the best.
Under the cover of night, the three continued their rampage. The entire Sunset Forest descended into chaos.
As more soul beasts were slain, more soul bones appeared—until one finally emerged that was perfectly suited for Tang San.
It was a 999-year Ghost King Vine left arm soul bone, obtained after Zhao Wujing killed it in a dense forest—the best one they had acquired so far.
"Xiao San, this Ghost King Vine left arm soul bone suits you perfectly and matches your Blue Silver Grass martial soul," Yu Xiaogang said. "It's just a shame—it's still a bit short of a thousand years."
Looking at the yellow soul ring with a faint hint of purple, Yu Xiaogang sighed.
Just one step away from the thousand-year threshold.
They had spent two full days in the Sunset Forest. Tomorrow would be the battle between Shrek Academy and Divine Wind Academy.
In two days, over five hundred soul beasts had died at the hands of Liu Erlong, Flanders, and Zhao Wujing. Liu Erlong had gone all out, targeting mostly weak soul beasts—from ten years to nearly a thousand. Even mosquitoes were meat.
With Tang San's hidden weapons assisting, they obtained only four soul bones in total—the best undoubtedly being the one in Tang San's hands.
"Xiao San, absorb it quickly!" Yu Xiaogang urged.
Tang San lowered his head, looking at the soul bone in his hand. Warmth filled his heart—but hesitation followed.
The soul bone was only 999 years old. His father's warning echoed in his ears. Yet seeing the eager look on Yu Xiaogang's face, Tang San ultimately couldn't bear to refuse.
Early the next morning, before dawn broke.
Yu Xiaogang returned and immediately summoned Dai Mubai, Oscar, and the others.
Still in their sleepwear, dark circles under their eyes, the group stood there yawning, utterly exhausted.
"Stand up straight!" Yu Xiaogang barked.
Everyone instantly straightened, wondering why the "Master" had summoned them so early.
Once everyone had arrived, Yu Xiaogang nodded and glanced at Tang San behind him.
"Xiao San, take them out."
Tang San nodded, brushing his hand over the Twenty-Four Bridges Moonlit Night. Three strange lights flashed, illuminating the darkness.
The drowsy group instantly fixated on what Tang San held.
"Soul bones!" Dai Mubai exclaimed. He turned to Yu Xiaogang. "Master, did you go rob someone? Three soul bones at once!"
Yu Xiaogang: "..."
"These were obtained through great hardship by me, Flanders, Erlong, and Zhao Wujing after killing soul beasts in the Sunset Forest," Yu Xiaogang said confidently. "All three are thousand-year soul bones. They will greatly enhance your strength. Today's match against Divine Wind Academy—we're sure to win!"
