Chapter 3 - Episode 3 : The point of no return

Even though it's face was concave, nearly flat, even though there was no way for it to relay emotions to others, that angel's body language showed what it really wanted. It's fists were clenched and it's arms were incredibly vascular. It looked down at the ground. Even thought there was earth and dirt all around, it's body was as pristine as the day it was likely created.

It arched backwards, as if to stretch his back revealing every single fiber of muscle beneath that ceramic-like exterior.

It stomped it's foot in the ground releasing it's sinister energy, forcing it to travel like the roots of a tree through the ground.

"Fucking... jump!" Enkidu said as he circulated as much prana as he could in that short window of time in his foot.

From the ground erupted pillars of sickening, red energy, not unlike lava. The four made it out relatively unhurt, but the screams in the distance made Reinhardt's heart stop in place.

No way... They couldn't have...

"Calm down!" Reina shouted. "I won't try to convince you that they aren't all dead... but if we don't focus, even with Enkidu by our side, we will lose!"

Reinhardt clenched his teeth in desperation. That disgusting feeling of helplessness no matter how strong he became turned into his fuel to face his opponent with everything he's got!

"Enkidu, I want you to take some distance and shoot your--"

"Who the hell made you leader? Regardless, me attacking that angel from afar is only going to hinder us!" Enkidu shouted in a voice louder than the wind as they fell to the ground. "Observe."

Enkidu willed a single orb of highly concentrated prana on the tip of his big finger. He flicked it towards the angel leading to an explosion upon impact.

"I don't have nearly enough prana to damage that thing with what I'm capable of right now!" Enkidu shouted, using his prana sense to barely dodge the angel's fist.

Behind them, the forest was toppled with just the pressure of the angel's fist. Enkidu began to rapidly teleport around, however it was useless because the angel could dash to his location in a lesser amount of time than teleporting took.

As it became harder and harder to dodge, Enkidu relayed his command to the four.

"I'll focus on enhancing your attacks!" Enkidu shouted between gasps of air.

"Enhance...? What the hell are you on ab--"

Reinhardt's words remained stuck in his throat the moment Enkidu gave him a look.

"Alright... alright! Reina, take the heat off Enkidu! Enkidu, you will focus on enhancing Reina's attacks first!" Reinhardt shouted with all his might.

The two shook their heads. Enkidu summoned even more prana and temporarily outpaced the angel, allowing him a moment of reprieve for the tiniest of moments. Golden, exalted lightning gripped the woman's body as she took her first step into the battle!

She dashed towards the angel's trajectory and with a huge two handed swing she let off a torrent of lightning, flying towards the angel as if it was looking to purify it.

Black-ish red lightning covered the angel's right hand like a glove. It was almost incredible. It took a stance to unleash an unarmed slashing attack of corrupted lightning. The two energies created an explosion as soon as they touched.

"Use this smoke screen, Enkidu! Let's get this fucking thing!" Reina shouted, half laughing.

"You're a crazy bitch! I don't need to see your face to know the look you have on your face right now!" Enkidu said with just as manic of a smile. "Entrust your entirety to me, Reina!"

Blue aura flew out of Enkidu's body like steam as he increased the output of his prana considerably.

A faint, deep blue glow enveloped Reina's body.

The temporary overload of information from the borrowed prana sense stiffened her body for just a second. Enkidu, at a heavy cost of prana, teleported her entire body a couple meters away, allowing her to escape the impact of the downward fist and the damage of the corrupted lightning.

Reina clicked her tongue, not bothering to hide her displease.

"I'm sorry Enkidu! I promise you that you won't have to go out your way like that for me again." Reina said as he put on a serious game face.

She placed her body in a stance to dash, flexing every single fiber of muscle in her body. With a dash tenfold faster than her fastest movement speed and a spear that seemed to be stuck onto the back of her hand, she spun twice before slicing the angel, the additional force from the spin being the last push she needed to slice it's hand clean off. It's wound seemed to be cauterized immediately by her potent lightning energy.

Dodge...

An disembodied voice faintly echoed in her mind, warning her of the angel's next attack. She stepped back but it wasn't nearly enough. The angel moved with a ludicrous burst of speed, clapping it's hands, letting loose a torrent of fatal lightning.

She turned her body into lightning hoping to escape but when all of that raging golden energy reformed into a human, it looked like she had third degree burns on the left side of her body. The corrupt lightning struck the forest around, sucking all life out of the environment.

"Fuck... that's corruption!" Enkidu said, his eyes glued to the wounded Reina.

His voice trembled and tears were welling up in his eyes, but he pushed them all away, digging deep into his well of power.

❖═══════⛰ Heir of the Heights ⛰═══════❖

His aura burst out of his body like the eruption of a volcano, sputtering out prana in solid chunks all around. "Everyone, back off! I'm about to give her all my power!" Enkidu shouted as he pulled every single ounce of power out of him with sheer force.

Reina's eyes and haired turned a verdant green as her aura overflowed in a large radius. Her energy became much thicker, much dense and much more powerul than before. She clad her spear in verdant energy changing it's shape to be thicker with a three pointed blade at the end made of prana.

It almost looked like Divine Gear, but none of them had the time to make such a realization.

With that boost of power, she was completely and intrinsically connected to the world around, able to see the smallest constituents of the prana all around. Her prana sense became second to Enkidu's, allowing her to make precise predictions of the angel's attacks.

The angel wasted no time waiting any longer, wrapping it's entire body in corrupted energy, painting it red. It's corrupted lightning turned black and it almost seemed to have created an armor with it. It's speed was several times higher than before, however Reina didn't any more than the slight tilt of her head to avoid it's kick attack.

Her lightning energy started to seep inside her body, slowly replacing the electrical signals sent by the brain with the lightning fueled by her prana. In a move that was superhuman to all, even Enkidu. She twisted her body to face the angel and with a three hit combo slashing from left down and then to the right, she was able to make create large gaps within his armor.

Their clash reached an entirely different level, as only residual lightning remained where they stood not even a second ago.

Not even the outlines of their bodies were visible anymore as their movements already transcended what one's eye could pick up on. Even Enkidu was barely able to track them using his prana sense. The looks on the faces of her three siblings... were hard to describe. There was an equal amount of awe, helplessness and despair mixed into a cocktail of negative emotions.

The energy and the color in Enkidu's eyes drained by the second... Reina was able to feel that and speed up to a point where it looked like the angel was standing still, further pushing herself in a similarly extreme way as Enkidu.

The angel threw a flurry of punches that were enough to topple the entire first floor and yet none of them even connected to an inch of her skin. Seeing as launching attacks in different places were ineffective at piercing through it's armor, there was only one thing left to do.

Pouring all of her prana and the last dregs of stamina into a flurry of attacks so fast they alone broke the sound barrier, creating a sonic boom after the first slash. By the time their exchange was over, their bodies slowed down enough that they could be seen by the naked eye.

Countless, deep gashes appeared on the angel's body. The brilliant verdant prana covering her body like a dress wafted into nothingness as the color of her hair, the color of her eyes and spear turned back to normal.

The body of the angel exploded into smithereens, spilling it's corrupted energy everywhere.

Enkidu glad that it was finally over, let the tension in his body disappear putting him onto the edge of consciousness and the deep ravine we call the unconscious.

The three didn't waste any time putting all their power into body enhancement, quickly grabbing Enkidu and Reina as the two were struggling to stay conscious. They looked around haphazardly as they tried to the outrun the flow of cursed energy, not very unlike the flow of lava down a mountain.

The sky above shattered, as if it was made out of glass, leaving behind a vortex of golden light.

"G...Go." Enkidu said as he weakly brought his hand up to point towards the open hole in the sky.

Reinhardt looked down at Enkidu with ire, biting his lip so hard it started to bleed. He gives Reina a quick glance and Reina returns a knowing glance at Reinhardt.

"You bastard... I hope you're happy!" Reinhardt shouted... but at that point it became nothing more than a muffled sound in the distance.

His eyelids became heavier than the experience that he had just gone through. At some point though, Enkidu lost consciousness.

It wasn't clear to him whether a day or a second passed, but he woke up in a black space filled with infinite darkness. All of the fatigue and even his heavy racing mind were all reset in that space.

Through his prana sense, he could feel in an infinite amount of distance away, a being with such a large prana signature, it shook the very foundation of his existence.

"You're so weak. You're an emissary and you are so weak?!" A colossal voice reverberated across the entirety of that space. It was growly as if it hadn't spoken in a very long time.

"Who... who are you?" Enkidu said with no panic or urgency in his voice.

The being let out a coarse laugh.

"I'm the reason your eyes are like that and the source of your power."
