Chapter 6 - Dungeon Raiders(3)

Noa looked up at the golden knight with a heavy sigh, as he looked to his grass cutter. The blade was in a pretty bad shape, cracked and chips seemed to form on its edge, and the handle seemed to be slipping out of the blades grasp. "Hmmm…I think I got about 4 strikes left before this is done in, should be good enough, the problem is the giant just going to get back up like nothing happened right after." Noa understood however that the regeneration wasn't forever, the problem however was the abundance of gold around them. The blade wouldn't be able to last the entire fight that Noa had to endure, not that a battle of endurance was even an option. Noa sighed as the knight and him assumed their fighting stances. After a few moments of judging distance, they rushed at each other like predators, starving to devour each other.

The Knight lifted his claymore and cleaved downwards like a guillotine. Noa however looked almost bored as blade of the knight began to slow down as it drew near him. He easily maneuvered the strike, sliding under the knights' legs. Utterly stunned, the knight could not pull back as his blade got stuck on the floor. Noa swiftly came to a halt as he delt a powerful slash in the knight's hamstring, toppling it to one knee. Then, launching himself onto the back of the Knight, he cleaved into the knights side with one ferocious plunge of the grass cutter, jumping off quickly before the Knight could retaliate with a deadly slash of its own.

As Noa landed, he narrowed his eyes looking at the knight closely. As he though, the knight simply regenerated from the damage dealt to it, absorbing even more of the of the gold. However, it could not seem to regenerate what the rusty sword managed to inflict, as its titanic body struggled to pull the grass cutter out. Noa then glanced to Andre, who had finally managed to recover his gun as he hid behind the boulder where Noa and the knight fought. He noticed Noa as well, as Noa pointed toward the ceiling, and before Andre could respond, Noa quickly rushed at the Knight who had also noticed the sneaky hunter. Intercepting the Knights charge, the knight ferociously slashed at Noa, until it suddenly stopped just an inch from Noa's face. Noa swiftly ducked under as the blade escaped from it's pause, slamming into the wall as Noa ripped his grass cutter from the Knights grasp. He plunged the blade back into the knight's visor, as it stumbled again, swinging wildly like an ogre trying to catch its prey. It, however, was insignificant to Noa who evaded the strikes easily, he jumped up, he caught onto his blade, dragging it down until it bisected the Knight in two.

The cleaved strike tore though the gold armor violently, leaving the knight in tow pitiful parts. However, and frustratingly, the knight endured, slowly melting as it tried to reconstruct itself into one whole again, ad much stronger one at that. Before it could do that though, a loud explosion blew the ceiling into smithereens, as droves of golden rats and debris flooded the cave, consuming anything inside of it.

.....................................................................….

Kirin sighed as he looked to the overly jolly, and quite frankly overconfident ex-captain. They all were reluctant in clearing the dungeon themselves, but the boss had always been like that, way too cocky and bold for his own good. Kirin never understood characters like that, where did their recklessness' come from, strength, ironically no, if anything the more powerful somebody was the more cautious, they were as well form Kirin had seen. However, just like always nobody left his side nor questioned it, they just followed along, and who wouldn't, it's how they were able to gain some semblance of a life in just five years.

They had traveled quite a distance into the treacherous maze of the cave, slaying droves of golden rats as they made their way through, however recently, tremors through the cave could be heard and it seemed they had gotten a moment of respite as less and less waves of rats slammed into them. Kirin suspected that it had to do with the boss of the dungeon being encountered currently, and if he were right, that would mean either the dungeon had two bosses, or someone was in the dungeon with them.

Either possibility was grave for the party, and whether Luke liked to hide it or not, he shared the same sentiments Kirin did to.

Only a few moments later, Luke came to halt as he stopped the rest of the party. Everyone looked to him cautiously, there eyes darted around as they quickly assumed their battle formation. Soon, rumbling sound boomed across the cave, as Luke grimaced as he signaled everyone to take a few paces to the left. As they did so however all be it slightly confused as to why, until to the right of Luke, the ground seemed to crack as Luke looked to Iron and Sari "BOTH OF YALL! TRANSFORM AND COVER EVERYONE!" Without hesitation and in a split second, they nodded as Iron and Sari assumed their monstrous Forms, squeezing close to each other to shield the entire party. The entire cave seemed to quake. As in only a few short moments, to the right of them, the wall seemed to burst as a tsunami of rats smashed into them, ensnaring them whole.

.....................................................................….

Ariana paced around the room as she looked down, she wanted to help honestly, but what would she do? It's not like she knew anything of what was going on, and she didn't know what systems were in place to help with mine based issues. Anything could have gone wrong, the worst case being that a dungeon had been discovered in the mines, and if that were true, she would be a sitting duck. She had absolutely no combat experience, and her gift was mainly to bless or condemn people to a reasonable extent, and in a dungeon like setting where speed, precision, and experience were key, she seemed to fail in every measure.

However, she couldn't sit back and watch, her very essence wouldn't allow it. She turned to Cam who had been patiently waiting, standing there watching sighed "no Ms. Mayella, you may not head there, as you heard you will be in danger if head there, my job is to keep you safe after all." Ariana knew Cam shared her sentiments, but the risk was too grand to let her loose in Cam's eyes. Ariana grimaced as she walked towards Cam, standing face to face with her "Cam, I get it, I know I might not do anything, but this is a huge issue, and you only thinking about the boys out there, what about the miners who need medical attention, I know I can at least help with that." Sam sighed as she stubbornly shook her head "no can do, this is the only place I can guarantee your safety, plus I don't think Eidra and her co workers would let you out to…" Ariana grimaced as she pierced Cam with her determined gaze. She knew how stubborn Cam was…. but the other way was true as well.

As she took a step forward however, a huge explosion could be heard from the window. Ariana stumble for a second, turning to see an eruption of golden rats. Explosions seemed to chain at the mines as Ariana looked horrified. She had never seen such pure destruction in her life, and to think of all the laborers that may have died there…It was overbearing. She looked back at Cam, her gaze trying to hide her pain "Cam…please, we need to see what happened ther….at least now..." This time, Cam nodded as well, but she didn't seem as defeated as Ariana was, almost serious, almost a state of flow. "yes, my lady, however I wouldn't be worried of the boys Ms. Mayella, I know them personally, they are far stronger than you think." It surprised Ariana to see Cam so focused, as she nodded, they rushed out of the room, to see the chaos of the servants. Eidra seemed to be managing the chaos with some level of efficiency, btu with how many children were running around and trying to wrangle them, there was not much she could do. The head of the quarters then looked up, seeing Cam and Ariana, she sighed as she gave them a quick nod before returning to manage the whole Quarters.

Cam and Ariana quickly rushed out of the building. Ariana held onto Cam's hand tightly as they made their way through the rampaging crowd. Wives and kids rushing towards and away from the explosions, sirens wailing throughout the city as villagers panicked throughout the district. The stampede made it difficult to navigate, but Cam never let go of Ariana's hand, a promise she always kept.

After a few moments rushing through the horde, they finally made it to the entrance to the vast mines, as guards cand be seen trying to shut down the gates. "What the…. what are they doing, they are still in there!" Cam exclaimed as she grimaced, rushing towards them. Ariana followed swiftly as well, questioning the decisions of the security. How corrupt could they possibly be? She wasn't naïve to the point she couldn't accept that some people were morally degraded, only thinking of profit, but this had no reason. They would only lose more workers letting the miners die, unless the danger they faced was that grand.

Cam tackled a guard as Ariana stood firmly behind her. Grappling onto his collar, Cam pulled him up, stoically looking down as she assertively demanded him in a menacing tone "what the fuck do yall think yall are doing? There are still workers in there." The guard looked at her, pushing her off as he looked back crazily "HUH?! ARE YOU INSANE?! YOU WANT TO SAVE THEM< DO YOU KNOW WHAT"S THERE, DETECTORS CAME IN AND SAID NO MERCENARIES ARE GOING TO HELP, THAT DUNEGON ISN'T A DUNGEON, THAT DUNGEON IT'SELF IS THE BOSS!!" As he screamed this, the floor seemed to shake a bit, as in the distance a shadow of something forming, golden liquid building up into a center of mass….

.....................................................................….

In the grand hall of an obsidian church, a lone man dawning steel like silver hair, his tanned skin glistening like a mirror finish. He wore a royal black and blue Cossack, and he was on his knees, praying as he held his cross tightly. Golden chains rapped around his arms as he kneeled, praying to an ivory statue of an angel, wearing golden armor and a red cape that fluttered. It was commemorating a saint that died, and it had been the usual prayer that the saint gave, his master, his teacher, it had been like any ordinary day…. well ordinary as it could.

The archbishop knew something had gone wrong outside of the church, the walls seemed to shake a bit every few seconds, and he could feel the tremor of powerful steps, however, he didn't know where these candidates of chaos came from, but he knew one thing…. they would be rather, bothersome.

Suddenly, A priest like him, only of a lower rank, rushed into the great halls. Seemingly ignoring the manners, which the archbishop wasn't quite fond of, the priest kneeled as he laid his forearms, bowing to him. "Please, forgive my rudeness your excellence, but the entire town is under attack sire, the mercenaries who also came for assistance cannot handle this threat, a monster, most likely a giant, seemed to have hidden itself in the form of a dungeon. The people are in chaos, and we don't know what to do sire, we have evacuated as many workers from the mines, but the monster may rampage through the city, we have no idea what to do." The archbishop gazed down at the priest; his face tired but demanding. He smirked "I'm sure it will be fine; I don't think I will need to lift a finger."
