Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Roguelike?!

Narrator POV

It is morning as we see a village starting to wake people, opening up their shops, smiles, and small talk going around, truly a peaceful morn-

"Finally!!!" someone shouted so loud the whole of Konaha heard it, completely ruining everyone's morning.

"What the hell are you shouting about so early in the morning, Rogu?! What's so important that you had to wake up the whole entire village!" a woman shouted while kicking down a door.

"Jeez, Mom, you don't have to shout so loud, you might wake up the entire village," said Rogu nonchalantly while picking his nose.

"What do you mean I'm being loud!" said Rogu's mom. Her angry face formed into a smirking one, making Rogu's spine shiver. "If I'm not mistaken, the ninja academy starts in a month, right?" Rogu nodded quickly. "Then, for the next month, I'm doubling your chores!!" she turned angry again.

"Y-yes, ma'am," said Rogu, standing and saluting while his body was shaking.

"Good, now get downstairs and set the table for breakfast," she said, closing the door now that Rogu was alone. He passed out his soul, leaving him. Shaking his head and dragging his soul back.

"Good, now for the reason I shouted this morning," Rogu said, smirking, looking at the blue screen in front of him.

[Welcome, host to the Roguelike System]

[Would host ike to enter 'The Infinite Vault'] [Y/N]

"infinite vault? Could this shitty thing not come up with a better name?" said Rogu, whispering to himself, Rogu not thinking much about said "Yes"

Rogu looked around as nothing happened. "Yo shitty system, are you already broken?" said Rogu, sighing. Rogu was about to leave until he started glowing.

"Um system what's happening? What the hell is happening?" Rogu started to freak out a bit, and before he knew it, he disappeared.

"Hey, idiot, wake up, come on, wake up." Rogu felt like he was getting slapped. Opening his eyes, he saw a man standing over him, slapping him repeatedly. "Thank goodness you're awake, thought I'd have to start stabbing you to wake you up," said the random guy.

"Why's your next thought stabbing someone if they don't wake up?! And who the hell even are you?!" shouted Rogu, pointing angrily at the man. Rogu couldn't tell who this guy was. The man was wearing a cloak that hid his entire body; all you could see was his glowing blue eyes and his glowing white teeth.

"Ah, two questions, one answer, you may call me Mr. Shoppy," said Shoppy, smiling, "ask away, all your questions may be answered." said Shoppy, smiling creepily.

"Okay, first question, where exactly am I? Second question is this the system's fault that I'm here?" asked Rogu, looking at Shoppy skeptically.

"To answer your first question, you are at the entrance of The Infinite Vault, and to answer your second question, yes," answered Shoppy, still holding his creepy smile.

"Ok, another question, what's your whole deal in this?" asked Rogu, easing up a bit but still keeping vigilant.

"Oh, I guard the entrance of The Infinite Vault, and I'm the shopkeeper. I sell all sorts of things for the right coin," answered shoppy.

"What else can you tell me about The Infinite Vault?" Rogu asked, becoming more and more interested in this place, as this was the first time he had heard about a system like this from any manga or fanfic, or novel.

"When entering or reentering The Infinite Vault, the room will always be random. There will be 2 doors in each new room, and there will be symbols on each door presenting the skills and power-ups you get in each room, but you can collect those skills and power-ups after defeating all the monsters in the room," answered Shoppy

"ok, that's cool and all, but how am I supposed to get back home?" asked Rogu, while he was happy he would be able to get stronger instead of being some background extra, but he can't exactly be stuck here forever.

"The only way to get back home is death," said Shoppy. Somehow, his smile got even creepier, which made Rogu put his fists ready to fight, "don't worry, I won't harm you, but the monsters in there will," letting his smile drop to where it usually is, pointing to The Infinite Vault's door. Mr. Shoppy walked behind his store. "So, would you like to browse my wares?" asked Shoppy

"Sure, wait, do I even have any coins on me? And how would I know how much I have?" asked a confused Rogu.

"Don't worry, each person who comes here for the first time is gifted with 100 coins, and if you ever wanna check how much you have, come to my shop," answered Shoppy.

Before Rogu could ask what was there to buy, a blue screen popped up next to Mr. Shoppy with 3 items to choose from. "While you were gifted 100 coins, this is all you can afford right now," said Shoppy.

Rogu looked at the 3 items, as all 3 had a description next to them.

[Basic taijutsu gloves: give's the user 5% strength and 4% agility]

[Basic ninjutsu mask: spend 10% less chakra on ninjutsu and perform ninjutsu 5% faster]

[Basic katana: it's sharp ╭ᥥ╮(´• ᴗ •`˵)╭ᥥ╮]

Rogu stared, annoyed at the basic katana's description, "the fu- you know what, just give me the basic ninjutsu mask." Rogu said as he snatched the mask from Mr. Shoppy. Rogu walked straight to The Infinite Vaults door.

"Good luck," said Shoppy, waving goodbye to Rogu. "screw you!" shouted Rogu. "You too," said Shoppy, making Rogu even more mad. When Rogu went through the door, he was met with a dark hallway the door closed shut behind him.

Rogu looked at the mask in his hand, which looked exactly like Kakashi's mask. Putting it on, he didn't feel any different, but then again, the item did buff any of his physical traits.

"Time to face the music," said Rogu, cracking his neck as he walked. He saw light at the end of the tunnel. Walking into the light, he met with a room filled with "Slimes?"

[AN: note this is my first proper book, I plan on finishing it, while it will have inconsistent updates, but if I ever do drop this story, know I won't just ghost the story, I'll let you guys know, and I know this entire chapter was entirely the narrator's pov but I plan on changing it to Rogu's pov for the forseeable future]
