Chapter 33 - Clearing the Stage

"Can you act normal for once?!"

Dong Qianqiu walked over, speechless, and seeing Gu Xun looking utterly relaxed, her anger flared instantly.

"What's the matter? Just tell me if I haven't been doing my best to assist you."

Gu Xun looked at Dong Qianqiu, speaking with an air of self-righteousness that left Dong Qianqiu utterly speechless.

"Enough. The next wave's coming. Go."

"Hmph!"

Gu Xun pointed at the five century-old Great Ape beasts across the way. Dong Qianqiu snorted coldly before charging forward again, ice spear raised.

Gu Xun remained utterly unhurried, sipping tea and basking in the sun as Dong Qianqiu single-handedly took down wave after wave of soul beasts.

Though Gu Xun's golden apples and buffs were potent, Dong Qianqiu was growing weary and struggling to keep up.

Now facing fifteen century-old soul beasts simultaneously, Dong Qianqiu finally reached the fourteenth wave.

"Phew... I'm exhausted. Gu Xun, let's switch."

Dong Qianqiu approached Gu Xun, utterly drained. Gu Xun glanced at her and replied.

"Young lady, how come you can't keep going?"

"You think you can do better? Try it yourself! Stop talking trash! Get up, I'm sitting down."

Dong Qianqiu pushed Gu Xun aside, claiming half his chair.

Gu Xun reluctantly stood up, and Dong Qianqiu immediately moved over, taking over the entire seat.

"Hurry up. I've already cleared fourteen stages. Shouldn't be a problem for a big shot like you to make it to thirty, right?"

Dong Qianqiu watched Gu Xun being forced to work with schadenfreude. Gu Xun, utterly helpless, could only pick up the Heaven-Supporting Spear and take the stage.

"Manifest True Form."

Gu Xun cast a buff on himself before stepping forward. Immediately, fifteen century-old Ironclad Rhinos charged from the opposite side.

Gu Xun's aura abruptly shifted, his previously languid demeanor instantly turning grim and lethal.

"Rock Rain, Fall!"

Gu Xun raised his hand, and instantly, rock spears materialized above several century-old armored rhinos.

Gu Xun's buff not only amplified ice-attribute damage but also allowed him to convert it into other elemental damage.

Similar to Rock-Shin Crane, Wind-Shin Crane, and Thunder-Shin Crane. As Gu Xun made a downward motion, fifteen rock spears instantly rained down, instantly obliterating all fifteen Ironclad Rhinos.

Dong Qianqiu stared in disbelief, utterly shocked by Gu Xun's power. He had wiped out so many century-old soul beasts with a single move.

As the corpses scattered, the countdown resumed. Gu Xun casually took a bite of the golden apple, instantly replenishing his stamina.

He raised his hand again. Countless two-meter-long rock spears materialized overhead, poised for action.

Wave sixteen; fifteen century-old Flame Lions obliterated. Wave seventeen; fifteen century-old Wolf Thieves obliterated. Eighteen, nineteen... all the way to wave twenty.

A furious roar echoed, drawing Gu Xun and Dong Qianqiu's gaze upward. A thousand-year-old spirit beast came into view.

The thousand-year-old Thunder Bear appeared.

The twentieth stage featured a thousand-year-old Thunder Bear. Gu Xun remained as calm as ever. With a downward flick of his finger, countless rock spears pierced the thousand-year-old Thunder Bear like a hedgehog, killing it instantly.

[Congratulations on clearing the stage!]

The moment Gu Xun finished off the thousand-year Thunder Bear, a congratulatory message popped up.

Both Gu Xun and Dong Qianqiu froze for a second, staring at the message.

"We cleared it already? That was easy..."

Dong Qianqiu muttered. Gu Xun shot him a withering look and retorted irritably.

"Why don't you try taking on a thousand-year Thunder Bear solo without my support?"

"That... my bad."

Dong Qianqiu immediately apologized upon hearing Gu Xun suggest a Level 19 Spirit Master facing a thousand-year Thunder Bear alone.

Thunder Bears were high-tier spirit beasts, far more powerful than previous foes like the Flame Lions or Hellhounds.

This millennium Thunder Bear likely required a high-tier Spirit Master to defeat, and even then, only one with a top-tier martial spirit.

"My fault, my fault! I got too cocky because I had your support. I'm so sorry, Young Master Gu. You're the kindest person, you won't hold it against me, right?"

Dong Qianqiu immediately wrapped het arms around Gu Xun's arm, acting all cute and clingy. Gu Xun sighed, pressing his hand to her forehead. Fine, he wasn't the type to hold grudges.

"Alright, let's log out."

"Got it."

Gu Xun and Dong Qianqiu exited the virtual world. Stepping out of the pod, they surveyed the empty chamber. Gu Xun wore an expression that said, "Just as I expected."

"Looks like we're the last ones again."

"Huh? Right, just the two of us left. Let's head out then."

Gu Xun and Dong Qianqiu both rose from their pods and walked out of the room housing the virtual pods.

The moment Gu Xun and Dong Qianqiu stepped out, three figures approached them head-on. Gu Xun glanced at the portly middle-aged man leading the group and exclaimed in surprise.

"Dean?"

Indeed, this was none other than the Dean of Heaven Dou Elementry Spirit Master Academy. Gu Xun had met him when Di Tian had processed his enrollment paperwork.

"Student Gu Xun, how have you been settling in at the academy?"

The man greeted Gu Xun with eager courtesy—hardly surprising, given the god-tier powerhouse standing behind him. Who wouldn't be eager?

"Very well. Did you need something, Dean?"
