Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: The Eyes of Talent

The afternoon sun painted the sky golden as Arin and Lyra played together in the yard. Their laughter echoed, mixing with the faint rustle of leaves. They had been running, stacking blocks, and chasing each other in circles for hours.

Arin was excited—not just because of the fun, but because every small detail caught his eye. The way Lyra's hair swayed when she ran. How quickly she reacted to his movements. How her tiny fingers carefully balanced blocks without knocking them over. His Observation skill worked tirelessly in the background, recording every detail.

Arin paused, feeling the strange energy of his system flowing. His eyes focused more clearly than ever before. Lyra waved her hand in front of him. "Arin? Why are you staring like that?" she asked.

Before he could answer, the familiar mechanical voice echoed in his mind.

Arin's eyes widened as the world around him seemed to shimmer faintly. He blinked, and suddenly, above Lyra's small figure, glowing text appeared.

[Detected Talent]

Name: Lyra

Age: 3

Talent: Musical Resonance (Rare) – A natural gift for sound, rhythm, and harmony. Great potential in music and emotional influence.

Arin gasped quietly. So… this is what talent looks like.

He looked around the yard, curious, but only Lyra's "Talent" text glowed faintly in his vision. His parents and Lyra's parents were too old for his Observation to reveal anything.

Lyra tilted her head, confused. "What's wrong? Why are you smiling like that?"

Arin quickly shook his head. "Nothing! I just… think you're really good at stacking blocks," he said, trying not to reveal the truth.

Inside, however, his heart raced. All my life, I was the one without talent. Now, I can see the truth of others… and maybe, just maybe, I can learn how to stand among them.

The game continued, but Arin's mind kept turning. He finally had the ability to look into the hidden gifts of those around him. He wasn't jealous—rather, he was curious.

What other talents exist in this world? And… what is mine?

For now, only silence answered him. The system didn't reveal anything about his own talent—because his path was no longer the same as before. His talent wasn't fixed at birth. It was being rewritten every day, with every effort, every skill, every step forward.

As the sun dipped lower, Arin watched Lyra laugh, her voice ringing like a melody. For the first time, he wondered if the people he met could help shape his journey—not just through friendship, but through the talents they carried.

And with his new Eyes of Talent, he would see them all.
