Chapter 9 - Returned to Hell

In that day everything went the same. Sunny and Nephis said their goodbyes to each other and went to their sleeping pod.

[Welcome to the Dream Realm, Sunless!]

With that he dropped to the water.....again. Surrounded by only water and darkness. A starless black sky hanging above him.

'Ahhh....I don't like water at all. Why am I always drop into water? Well,... I guess this is better than dropping from sky.'

He shook his head and wrapped his shadow around him. He started swimming toward a black mass but with better technique.

Behind him a corrupted devil was following him. Well.....not exactly following him, the devil was running from another big creature.

Still why take the risk? He swam toward the black mass as fast as he could. And finally reached it.

He jumped on the platform and looked back. Suddenly a massive thing had collided with it. Entire platform shuddered. A terrifying jaws appeared from the water, with rows and rows of giant teeth, each one as long as he was tall.

He thought about killing it but after a moment he decided against it.

'This is a corrupted devil! There no way I am killing it. Serpent still is a dormant level. I need at least an ascended level weapon to kill it. Plus there is almost zero percent chance of me killing it with sleeper strength, even with my little bit of supreme will.'

Serpent is still a dormant, because his body was too weak to perform 2nd step of shadow dance. He needed shadow fragments and more time to perform every battle style he possibly can do currently.

A colossal tentacle suddenly broke through the water and rose into the air like some strange, black tower. Before too long, it fell down, entangling the owner of the giant maw and pulling it back under the water.

Plus without the corrupted devil dead body, too many Carapace scavengers would spread on the labyrinth. And no matter how much knowledge they had, they were now in a sleeper body. One hit from an awakened nightmare creature and every bone in their body shattered.

'Arrogance gets you killed.'

Sunny sighed and summoned Puppeteer's Shroud. And lay down on platform.

'My sleeper body is too exhausted. I have to rest before moving tomorrow. Ahh...again, it good that I didn't enter in a relationship with Nephis before becoming saint. Because with this type of stamin-'

Sunny chuckled and closed his eyes.

Wishing morning came fast, so that he could see Nephis again fast. And he felt a littl-no, too much anxious.

'What if she teleported to another part of dream realm? But then she would have teleported to me. but what if somehow her teleportation blocked? No that too far fetched. If I have seven bodies then I can let one teleport to her. Dammit! How the hell people live with only one body?!'

Sunny felt a little bit frustrated. Because they had traveled back in time, and he didn't know what kind of anomalies can happen because of this.

Yes by Unseen from Fate, they had to change something big for anomalies to happen. And they didn't do anything that kind of yet. But anything is not absolute and perfect.

'If only I can see her-'

Suddenly he remembered it. He then tried to feel the warm thing in his soul.

And another perspective added to his.

There in front of him was Cassie. Tears running down from her face. Cassie hugging Nephis it seemed and saying thank you, over and over again. With a trembling voice. And Nephis trying to comfort her.

'It seem this is the time when Nephis and Cassie first met'

With that he let go the warm feeling in his soul and his perspective returned to normal. But again that weird feeling gripped his mind.

After both of them used their bond power again and again, they felt something. They felt that there is another feature in the [Unknown Bond]. They had tried to use and figure out the unknown feature, yet weren't able to find out.

With that Sunny put all the thoughts back in his mind. And slowly drifted toward sleep.

After few hours, Sunny eyes twitched and began to open because of a sound. The sea seemed to be receding.

Slowly at first, and then faster and faster, the water level was dropping. The circular stone formation he had been taking shelter on used to barely protrude out of the waves, but now there were meters and meters of wet rock between him and the restless surface of the sea.

'Seem like time to move, and meet Nephis as soon as possible' But first, he had something to do.

With that he began to climb down the statue with precision efficiency.

Their plan is simple. This time they would reunite sooner and be much stronger than previous time before reaching the bright castle.

But first he reached the mud area. There is carapace scavenger hiding in the mud. His first kill in forgotten shore.

This time he hid behind a rock, not too far away. And sent his shadow toward the mud and positioned himself behind the hidden beast. He summoned Serpent in his weapon form. A dark odachi appeared in his hand.

But suddenly he felt a bit strange. He understood what it is. He smiled, feeling happy. 'Seem like she also can't wait'.

He opened his mouth and said with a soft and warm voice. "After this I will teleport to you, so don't worry darling~ "

He felt the strange feeling slowly disappeared.

He chuckled.

Gloomy when moving to the mud, suddenly a pincer appeared out of mud and pierced him. The hidden injured carapace scavenger appeared out of mud and attacked the shadow.

When scavenger looked at the spot again, there no one. Before it realized what had happened, Sunny with his black odachi, wrapped around by his shadow, already arrived behind its back. He slashed at its back two legs from between its chitinous armor, and activated his little bit of supreme will.

Its legs cut like butter against Sunny's odachi and lost its balance. Before it could recover, Sunny jumped on its back and surged his blade toward its brain. The blade easily pierced its head armour and reached its brain.

Carapace scavenger struggled a bit, before becoming still. Spell voice resounded in Sunny's mind.

[You have slain an awakened beast, Carapace Scavenger.]

[You have received a Memory: Azure Blade.]

[Your shadow grows stronger.]

Sunny smiled and opened his runes and checked his new memory.

Memory: [Azure Blade].

Memory Rank: Awakened.

Memory Type: Weapon.

Memory Description: [On this forgotten shore, only steel remembers.]

A bitter smile appeared on his face.

'Now a... Light and Shadow also remembers'

He shook his head. He didn't come here for becoming nostalgic, he came here for a weapon. His serpent is still a dormant, so he needed a better weapon. The better the weapon, the better it can draw his will potency.

With that he teleported to Nephis.

...

Nephis sitting on edge of the statue, wearing only a makeshift skirt and a crude brassiere made by seaweed, revealing a lot of her skin. Behind her Cassie sleeping on the platform, wearing the armour Nephis gave her.

Nephis expression seemed emotionless and she thinking about nothing, no worry in her mind.

But on her mind, there is storming of thoughts. She was anxious. Checking Sunny's runes again and again.

'Why did Sunny didn't came yet? Is he still sleeping? He might be doing something and will teleport to me later. Dammit! I can't teleport myself to him because Cassie would be left alone. Or worse he teleported in another part of the dream realm and now unconscious? No that too ridiculous. Plus he also use unknown bon-'

Suddenly she remembered, she tried to feel the warm feeling in her soul. And another perspective added to her.

They are not used to saw each other perspective. So sometimes they forget that they also had this power.

She saw that the perspective hidden behind a big rock, and a shadow in front traveling on mud.

'Is this where the scavenger he told me was hiding, and he kill it in previous life?'

Then she heard someone speak, a warm and soft voice. But she felt like she the one who had spoken up.

"After this I will teleport to you, so don't worry darling~ "

After this she blushed a little bit and let the warm feeling go, her perspective returned to normal. They still not used to called each other by these nicknames yet.

'Why did he had to say it in that way?' It not that she didn't like it though.

There is a little shade of pink in her ears. She tried compose herself.

Suddenly space behind her shifted, and Sunny appeared.
