Chapter 14 - Sebastian Gillette!

The acting Lord of the Gillette Household, Sebastian Gillette had arrived at the academy training ground. He had arrived earlier but had just stayed hidden. As he watched from behind the scenes, he began to make plans. He had made plans before that that would ensure Maxwell's death, but he didn't want it to be done inside the confines of the Gillette Household, especially not by his younger brother, Fargo.

He had assigned Maxwell a stable person position to reduce his personality among the Gillette Household. If his Fargo killed Maxwell now, he would be breaking the household rules, which could become a threat to his position as acting Lord.

Killing Maxwell was not going to be a problem for him since, Maxwell was still at the bronze rank. Killing him here, in the academy training ground was not an option.

"Boom!" The energy ball continued to hurl at Maxwell because Fargowas unable to control it.

A gentle tug from Sebastian was all it took to send Maxwell flying in another direction. After rolling some meters in a humiliating way he silently cursed Sebastian. "Why!"

"Bam!" The energy ball was destroyed easily by Sebastian which left the junior members in the training ground in admiration.

"Such Power."

After rolling on the rough and dirty floor, Maxwell was now covered in dirt; he now looked like a beggar who had been living in the slums without help from the outside world.

Sebastian was taking the spotlight from him but Maxwell couldn't help but wear a smile as he got up from the ground. He carefully looked at Sebastian who was beaming with a childish smile.

"The final boss!" The system displayed Sebastian's stats to Maxwell with his name displayed in black.

Maxwell had many theories flood his brain.

This was a game, and he had a levelling system. Killing beasts earned him XP. Doing quests also earned him XP. Killing other players also earned me XP, with rewards, and now he was facing the final boss, whose name was written in black. Could this be the final boss, since he was the only person whose name was showing black? A game always had a boss.

Maxwell had been expecting this, he wanted to see how the boss would come and what it looked like. What he never expected was the boss to be a player and not just any player but the acting Lord of the Gillette Household. Excitement was the word you could use to describe Maxwell at this point as he glared at Sebastian.

Sebastian was like a trophy for Maxwell, littered in gold and screaming beauty, calling out his name to come take his prize.

"Gulp!" He took a hard swallow down his throat. "That is my trophy and I'm going to get it." The best part of every game was meeting the boss; it was also the hardest part and every player needed to tread carefully. Maxwell could feel his adrenaline rush just from the sight of Sebastian.

All this came to a crash when Maxwell considered the difference in power. Even if he were to get in a fight now, he was already seriously injured, his health bar screamed nothing and his mana had depleted completely. Sebastian was already at Level 3, Silver Rank, only a single blow would be his end.

"Here's a reason to level up and quickly. I'm coming to get my rewards from you, boss!" Maxwell smiled excitedly making him look like a fool.

The members of the Gillette Household who saw him that way thought he had lost it already.

Fargo still raged as he ran to meet up with Sebastian. He glared at Maxwell. "This bastard has to die today, he attacked and injured my son." He began to gather another energy ball. "I must kill him."

Maxwell remained glued to his position as he glanced at Fargo. "A red name?" This was clearly a high-ranking enemy in the leaderboard.

"This will be the end of this gamble!" Sebastian declared before Fargo could make his attack. He handed over a healing orb to Sebastian. "Use this for Vincent, he's not injured that much."

"He's giving out a level 2 improvement element: healing orb. How kind of the Lord." The crowd murmured in envy.

Taking the orb from Sebastian, Fargo said. "My Lord, that bastard has made an attack and even injured someone in the training ground. This is against our rules and is punishable by expelling him from the Gillette Household."

The Gillette Household had rules that governed them and personal fights inside the training ground were allowed.

"Vincent was the one who made the first move, so if someone broke any rule, it would be him," Constantine said out loud.

"And what rights do you have to say such blasphemous words here?" Fargo shot back at Constantine.

"The rules of this Household state that whoever makes the first move is to be held accountable, and Vincent was the first to come at me, so it didn't matter if I defeated him, he's at fault," Maxwell said, stepping forward with confidence.

"And, who here would testify to that?" Fargo said smiling coldly.

Constantine yelled out as he ran to stand beside Maxwell. "Me!"

"Is there anyone else?"

Maxwell glanced at the crowd as all the junior members bowed their heads. None of them was willing to come out as a witness.

"Just one witness? This cannot be your only alibi; it seems like you have a problem on your plate. My Lord, what shall become the fate of these two who seem to have broken the training ground rules?" Fargo had an evil smile as he thought to himself. "I'll be coming after you once you're expelled, bastard!"

"Hahaha..." Maxwell began to laugh. "Talking about rules. You broke the rules when you insulted me, the heir."

"What do you expect, the son is not sensible, so why should the father be any different? You came with an attack as soon as you entered the training ground. That, too, is rule-breaking."

"Calling me a bastard at every opportunity, that is insulting the next Lord of the Gillette Household. I think you've broken enough rules."

Maxwell and Constantine raised facts in the presence of the crowd. This scene made Sebastian angry. He already had it tough being the acting Lord. Maxwell could easily challenge him since he was the heir and had the right to take over once he came of age.

Killing Maxwell was his only option to become Lord permanently, and he had to take care of it immediately.

Maxwell's words had caused Fargo to burst in anger as he rushed at Maxwell. "You'll die here."

"Threats! Fargo is threatening me here." Maxwell displayed a scared expression. "Do you see that acting Lord? Fargo has insulted me publicly, isn't this against the household rules?"

"Stop it already, Fargo!" Sebastian said, dragging back Fargo.

"No, let go of me, Sebastian. I'm going to kill him!" Fargo said his face had turned red. Whenever he took a look at Maxwell's fake expression, his brain would short-circuit.

Maxwell was acting confidently because Sebastian was present and he wouldn't make an attempt to kill him here.

"Smart mouth, I hope you're going to be this good in the entrance competition. You're the heir after all and could participate in this competition automatically. Old Cain, register him now." Sebastian said.

Old Cain quickly obliged as he recorded Maxwell's name.

Maxwell called out to Sebastian who was now leaving. "Acting Lord, I have the permission to bring whoever I want for the competition am I correct?"

Sebastian turned around with a cold smile.

"Not like I need your permission though, just asking since he'll be joining me. Acting Lord, you cannot interfere in this matter right?"

"Am I correct? Acting Lord? Don't just go yet."
