Evangeline felt a flicker of unease at her aunt's final remark, though she could not quite name why. Before she could dwell on it, Adalyn stepped backward, her posture straightening as she allowed herself to be guided into the flow of the ballroom. A gentleman with more silver than black in his hair approached her, his attire refined and posture dignified. He seemed to catch Evangeline's gaze for a brief moment, offering a respectful bow before escorting Adalyn away.
"That must be Mr. Glass," Evangeline murmured to herself.
Hades, who had clearly heard her, arched a brow slightly. "You have never seen your own uncle before?"
"Well… he is a man accustomed to a rather wealthy life," she explained quietly. "From what I was told, he does not often visit our home. During holidays, it was usually my aunt who would come alone."
"I see," Hades replied, his eyes briefly following the couple as they disappeared among the crowd.
