HARPER
It had been two days of stifling silence and simmering tension in the house.
Jason remained his usual self. Snappish, irritable, furious at the world and at me, even though I'd done nothing wrong. All I'd tried to do was help him. His ankle was still healing, and although the sprain was improving, he stubbornly refused to visit the hospital. His father said nothing about it.
But honestly, Jason wasn't even my biggest concern. No matter how much it made my chest ache to see him in pain. It was Dominic.
For the past two days, ever since that conversation in my room, he had completely ignored me. Not like before, when we'd bump into each other, exchange a few words, argue maybe, but always found a way to reconnect.
This was different. This was colder. I hadn't seen him at all, nor did I feel his lingering presence in the room.
