"What? He's not your father?!" Clara shot up from her chair.
"Shhh!" I yanked her hand, tugging her back down. "Keep your voice down! Do you want to announce my business to the whole world?"
Her eyes went wide, like she was just now realizing where we were. She sank into the chair again, flashing an apologetic smile. "Sorry. I'm just… seriously? That's insane."
"It's okay," I muttered, offering a small smile as my gaze drifted to a group of kids seated nearby. One of them flipped me off. I blinked, narrowing my eyes. The little devil then stuck his tongue out.
"Spoiled brat," I mumbled under my breath, turning back to Clara.
She was still staring at me like her brain hadn't caught up with the news. "Anyway, it's not confirmed yet," I added. "Just a possibility."
"Right…" Clara nodded slowly. A beat of silence passed before she turned to me again. "This still makes zero sense."
"I know."
