Kids? Not even a child?
I had clearly been living under a rock. What the hell was happening?
The silence that followed was suffocating. Tension thickened the air until it felt like it could be sliced apart with a blade.
My gaze shifted between Dominic, Harper, and the fiancé whose name I still didn't know.
Harper broke the silence. She threw her head back and laughed. The sound was sharp, loud, edged with mockery.
"Yours?" she spat, then shoved her free hand against his chest. "I have nothing of yours, bastard. Let me go."
Dominic's grip tightened instead.
"Nothing?" he murmured. "Then why did you hesitate?"
"I don't know what you're talking about," Harper snapped, her eyes flicking away from his searching stare.
"How about a DNA test?" Dominic said evenly. "You, me, and the children."
Color flared in Harper's cheeks. I couldn't tell if it was fury or shock. But there was something else in her eyes. Something buried.
A truth?
What was she hiding?
