Ketovan and Reina reached a nearby check-post of the Adventure Society, after telling Alex to go back to the Motsari resort. There, the society arranged a small but powerful fore of adventures and high-ranking military sanctioned to the city. A force of 500 noble rankers, 5000 commander rakers and 50000 soldier rankers. The person heading the force was a noble ranker who was on the brink of ranking up and the strongest adventurer the city has ever given birth to, Hakon Kelin.
Hakon Kelin was an immense man even for the abnormality of the noble rankers. At almost 9 feet in height, he was a bulkier, stronger and darker version of Ketovan. He had a long katana resting in its saya, which he held in his left hand His family was not aristocratic but was filthy rich. Rich enough to buy half of the city and still have more than 20% of their wealth left. He was wearing no Armour only a short and a sleeveless t-shirt. A unique figure among all the armored fighters that stood before him.
"Kill as much as possible. Divide into squads, 50 soldier rankers, 5 commander rankers and 1 noble rankers. Now split!" Hakon said his command.
Everyone started to move into their respective squads like an army who knew what their places were once the command was given. The only people left were Hakon himself, Ketovan, Reina and, surprisingly, Franklin Grahan. The personal bodyguard of the Duke of Daro.
Franklin was famous not only in Daro but all over the continent for his core ability. His core, the core of night, which was the second rarest core in the weather category. But the strongest part is his core ability, Red Night. Which, when cast, makes him the strongest in effect for an entire minute. Only divine rankers can breach this ability useless the user is divine ranked too. Reina went towards Hakon and talked with him for a bit. After some time, they both came back to Ketovan .
"So, got no team, I see, Mr. Motsari. Wanna team up?" Hakon asked him.
"Are you sure? I am mostly a supportive type of core user; I am not sure I could be of help," Ketovan answered.
"I can assure you that we have enough attackers on our team. I am a user of the core of sun, Reina is a user of the core of the frost and -" he looks at Franklin before completing, "Franklin here is a user of the core of the night."
Franklin looked clearly shocked as he heard Hakon take his name.
"You are joining us, right?" Hakon asked him. But all of them knew that it not a question.
"Sure thing, commander." franklin answered.
"Fine then, Ketovan, you any teleportation ability?" Hakon asked.
"Two if I used them right, my skill gravity can make us move faster than sound, I could use that on both you and franklin and I and Reina could teleport there with my warped domain skill." Ketovan answers.
Some skills like teleportation or healing cannot be useful when a lower ranker uses them over the higher ranker. A noble ranking teleport specialist can teleport only one royal ranker at a time with a significant time gap before which he can't use the skill, the person who could previously teleport hundred noble rankers at once can barely manage to teleport a royal ranker, the goes for the healing. However, skills like gravity or boosting affinities can be cast on all rankers except the divine rankers.
"Fine then, I got a leap ability. I can manage." Hakon said.
"My skill day night can conjure wings for me. I too can manage," Franklin assured.
Ketovan raised his hands, and a green dome looking like glass covered both noble rankers. A green light started flowing from Ketovan towards both of them.
"Gravity, in my domain and out, I command you out of my power to aid my friends and disable my enemies." Ketovan said his incantation
"At the west park," Hakon said
Not waiting for a movement, Hakon leaped into the sky, blurring out at the edge of the eye. Franklin manifested his wings, a pitch-black set of wings which looked like a cross between bat and crow wings.
"See you there, and good luck," Franklin said before he too flew out.
****************
Hakon was practically flying, skipping several kilometers in one leap that to at sonic speed. When he reached the west park, Ketovan and Reina were waiting alongside Franklin. Ketovan was holding a dark blue greatsword in his right hand. It was huge, but Ketovan was a commander raker with strength as his secondary attribute after skill. Franklin had manifested a dark armour that mostly covered his body but not his joints, a rather oddity. Reina was holding her wand in her left hand and a revolver in another; she was a dual wielding specialist in frost abilities in the wand and cool abilities in the revolver. Hakon landed as soft as a feather before them, nearly covering Ketovan at six feet in his shadow.
"Was I too late?" he asked
"Not mush, now the next orders are." Reina answered
"Don't split, Reina you be our long range. Try to take out the commander ranking orcs from far. Franklin and I will be the frontline. Ketovan, you be the back and support." Hakon said his orders.
"Sure" all answered.
They fell into position and started running towards the west gate. Not long after they were met by several dead soldier rankers and some commander rankers. The numbers reached hundreds.
"The Adventure Society branch cannot recover from this invasion for at least 5 decades." Reina said, seeing the dead adventures with a sorrowful eye.
"We will recover stronger. These sacrifices in hundreds can save millions of lives living I the city." Franklin said.
"When the director reaches the west sector?" Hakon asked.
"As soon as he is done with his current duties," Reina answered.
"What kind of duties are more important than saving millions of lives and try stopping and invasion?" Hakon roared, first time letting any emotions out.
"I too am unaware of that," Reina answered, her eyes fixed to ground.
"No time for quarrel. Hakon, it's time to unsheathe your Kanata." Franklin said, conjuring a claymore, looking towards the swarm of orcs that were running towards them.
They were few adventures before them who were fighting the horde. Few commander rankers and 3 noble rankers were practically butchering the horde, but the numbers were so high that they too started to give up.
Slash
A horde of orcs, nearly 5 thousand lie dead on the ground, cited to halt at the waist. When the adventures turned around, they saw Hakon holding his katana, which had a dark red blade and was covered in golden light. Franklin did not wait as another horde approached, he moved his claymore, and a clean way was created by turning thousands of orcs into minced meat. Few noble ranking orcs survived the attack.
"Now!" Hakon and Franklin screamed in unison towards Reina. Reina nodded, held her wand up and started chanting.
"I command you, frost of the mother winter, hear my words and attain my wish. FROST BURST"
The noble, ranking orcs became statues of frost as the people there took a slow breath. The orcs they were facing were gone for good now, but the same can't be said about the others, who were probably facing the worst without the help of the minted noble rankers that Hakon and Klein are.
"That was exceptional. I nearly jumped 25 levels on those 3 kills," Reina said to Hakon.
"Those were probably noble rank 50 or more, thank your god that you were lucky our attacks did not kill them but left them at the edge of death." Hakon said.
"They were just lucky; we both just killed nearly 15000 orcs, out of which 12 were noble ranked. They got out at the right time to be alive but not strong enough to face even a soldier rank attack. Then their luck ran out, and yours started, mis Darath," Franklin said, vanishing his claymore and armor to take a free breath.
"No time to rest, Grahan," Hakon said while sitting on the grass himself.
Reina and Ketovan watched both of the noble rankers lying on the park grass after killing a small army of orcs with just an attack each. That too, not using any incantations. Ketovan looked at Reina with a questioning look.
"What?" Reina asked
"Can Hakon take another student," Ketovan said
"Ask him yourself." Reina said, joining the older men on the grass
"Mr. Kelin?" Ketovan.
"yes" Hakon
"I have a friend. I want you to train him, the Derrus style," Ketovan.
"Why?" Hakon
"Because he used a special core, and I don't want him to do something wrong." Ketovan
"What core?" Hakon
"The core of hegemony." Ketovan.
"The omniarch?" Hakon asked
"Yes, how did you know that?" Ketovan asked him, clearly shocked that he knew about Alex.
"Do n't worry about that you have something else to worry." Hakon says, looking at Franklin.
"Does the duke know about this?" Hakon asks Franklin.
"Now but he knows someone used the core of hegemony and is angry that the user did not offer it up to him." Franklin said, eyeing Ketovan
"That foolish kid for a ruler we have. Any words from the continental capital?" Hakon asked franklin
"no" Franklin said.
"What about my friend?" Ketovan asks.
"Let me see him first. Any clue about his aura beast?" Hakon said, standing up ready to continue his fighting.
"No idea, but thank you for the consideration." Ketovan says, casting his gravity spell once again on Hakon and Franklin.
