Seraphine's POV
The air left my lungs in a violent rush as reality crashed around me.
Murder.
That single word slammed into my chest like a physical blow. My heartbeat roared so loudly I could barely hear anything else as I stared at the grim faces of the High Council wolves. "What are you talking about?" My voice came out cracked and broken. "I never killed Becky. She was the one who came after me first."
But their expressions remained carved in stone, as if my guilt had already been decided long before they arrived.
Federico erupted in a vicious snarl, his fangs gleaming as he warned them to keep their distance. His rage poured through me like molten fire. Every instinct he possessed screamed for violence against these intruders.
The lead Council wolf remained unmoved by the display. "You need to come with us, Seraphine Zain. Make this easy on everyone, or we'll have no choice but to resort to more persuasive methods."
