Seraphine's POV
My eyes drifted toward Nash, who remained seated with that infuriating air of confidence. The urge to expose what he had revealed to me burned in my throat, but I needed privacy with Theodore first. That opportunity seemed impossible now. The Elders had already decided my fate before stepping into this room.
The corruption ran deeper than I had imagined. Elder Garett and Nash shared some twisted alliance, but what exactly bound them together? Every instinct screamed that Theodore was fighting a battle already lost. My chest tightened with each passing moment in this suffocating courtroom.
Then Theodore mentioned Amy, and hope flickered in my heart like a dying flame catching wind.
"Bring the witness forward," Elder Steve commanded.
Theodore's mental command reached his warriors. Two guards escorted Amy into the chamber. Her appearance was deliberately disheveled, playing the victim to perfection.
