Seraphine's POV

Suffocating blackness swallowed me whole. Time became meaningless in that void until my consciousness stirred, and I found myself surrounded by an infinite expanse of pure white light.

Was this death? The afterlife wolves whispered about in hushed tones?

Every direction I looked revealed nothing but blinding brightness that seemed to pulse with its own heartbeat. The air itself felt thick with otherworldly energy.

A gentle laugh drifted from behind me. I spun around to find the most breathtaking woman I had ever seen. Her silver-gray eyes sparkled with warmth, and her snow-white hair cascaded over shoulders draped in flowing white robes that seemed to defy gravity.

My body moved without permission, drawn to her like a moth to flame. Every instinct screamed that I belonged with her, that I had been searching for her my entire life.

"Who are you?" The words tumbled from my lips in a breathless whisper.
