Fernando lay in the hospital bed, staring at the ceiling. He was unblinking, quiet and unmoving.
That couldn't have been real… right?
It was so close. It was right there. Everything he'd wanted the most was right in front of him. He could have had it, but then in the blink of an eye, it was snatched away from him.
He'd felt so dizzy, and he wasn't even sure what it was that had ticked off in his head, causing him to faint.
The next time he woke up, he was here… in the hospital.
His eyes flickered, and unable to hold it back, wetness built up in his eyes, breaking. It poured from either side of his eyes, soaking the bedspread.
