"Please enter your True Name." The message blink in and out on the screen, waiting for Damion's decision.
And Damion at this moment leaned back in his gaming chair, the familiar creak of its springs grounding him in this surreal white expanse. His fingers hovered over the keyboard, trembling slightly, not from fear but from the curious situation he found himself in at the moment.
"A True Name eh!?" He thought to himself, rolling the concept around in his mind. "My unique identity as a spirit. Something my contractors will call me by." He said to himself, repeating the words already said to him. "Something that defines me in this… whatever this place is." He said aloud, his voice echoing faintly in the emptiness.
The screen didn't respond, its text remain the same, waiting patiently on him to name himself. Damion's brow furrowed as he drummed his fingers on the desk, his mind racing.
"Hmm, should I just continue using my government name? Damion Holt?" He snorted, shaking his head, quickly dismissing his thoughts. "No, no, that would be lame. This is my chance to be… something else, I shouldn't waste it on a mere government name." His convince himself, as the thoughts drifted to the countless hours he had spent in various virtual worlds, crafting avatars, completing their stories.
"I guess I will go with my gamer tag then, the same name I usually used across every platform." Damion said to himself with a self-agreeing nod. "Yeah." He muttered, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
With that he typed the letters slowly, each keystroke echoing subtlety.
And after what felt like a two minutes, the words change, and a new series of new text appear.
"True Name Accepted: Dante, Spirit of Administration has been added to the Record's of the World. Congratulations on being born and Welcome to The World of Purgatory."
"Record's of The World, Purgatory... How ironic, still what are the Record's even supposed to be!?" He asked himself, but like everything else a direct answers never came his way."
For that reason, and for that reason alone, he shift his attention to the information he at the very least knows.
Reading the text as it said.
"As a Rank Zero Outer Spirit, you are unbound by the fixed rules of lesser spirits." Dante read out aloud as he continued. Keep in mind Outer Spirit have True Name's that comes from themselves, for a spirit a True Name is your sigil, your power, your identity. With it, you may forge contracts without limit, drawing negativity as payment from those who summon you, as such never give it to anyone. Beware though, those who know your True Name hold power over you. They can forcefully summon you for a time, bind you, or, through the Blood Arts of the Vampires, banish you to a sealed realm. For an Outer Spirit though the effects remain's but you have the power to resist to a great degree."
Dante breath caught in his mouth when he read this. "Blood Arts? Vampires?" He muttered, his voice tinged with equal awe and unease. "I guess I am Dante now. A Rank Zero Spirit. But what are my abilities as
The screen then shifted again, pulling him from his thoughts.
"Honorary Title: The Spirit of Administration."
"Unlike lesser spirits, whose titles are random at birth, for example title like Spirit Who Dwells, Licker of Despair, these inborn bestowed title are given at birth, as title reflects the spirit unique power." The message explain. "Ah, we are finally getting into my ability explanation eh!?"
"As the Spirit of Administration you have one Ability, and that power is called the
"Ohhh, wait, for real, does that mean anything I imagine will randomly appear here?" Dante asked himself, then to test his theory he began to imagine something into being, and bold and behold a Desert Eagle manifested in his hand. "Holy shit!" Dante said in utter shocked.
He then began to read further. "Mark is simple, it allows you to create unique contracts even when compare to other spirits. Basically when a contract is form it usually because both the spirit user and the spirit has to come to a mutual agreement with their demands. In your case you can ignore the wishes of the contractor completely losing nothing in the process, and upon completion of a contract if the user can't keep it's end of the bargain whatever they wager to you in the beginning automatically gets cease and is imprisoned here in your domain, if you play smart you can even take the powers of others for yourself, or their entire existence."
"This one is convenient, but the last one is insane," Dante said, staring at his final ability and its capabilities. "Reality Quest is easily the strongest and most important aspect of the Administrator's power. This ability allows you to set missions in both dreams and the real world, treating both realities as true to the creator. However, for this to work, you need a
Dante leaned forward, his eyes narrowing. "So I am a game master now with these abilities how interesting." He said, a spark of excitement cutting through his unease. "I can just build the world, set the rules, and they play. If they win, they get power. If I win, I get… stronger."
