Chapter 62 - Chapter 60: The Scarred Lad Plots to Infiltrate the Snake Den

We speak now of Draco, who, having received a Howler, made the entire student body cover their ears.

Harry, seeing this strange sight, was confused. Ron explained the magical letter.

Before Ron had even finished, the red envelope in Draco's hand sparked and burst open.

The paper unfolded itself, forming lips, and began to scream at Draco.

"DRACO! DID YOU NOT UNDERSTAND MY WORDS?!"

"YOUR BEDROOM, YOUR DESK, IT IS ALL FILLED WITH TRASH! I BELIEVE I TOLD YOU TO CLEAN IT BEFORE YOU LEFT FOR SCHOOL!"

"IF YOU CANNOT CLEAN IT, THEN THROW THAT TRASH AWAY! DO NOT KEEP IT NEAR YOU! THINK OF YOUR OWN LIFE!"

The voice was Lucius Malfoy's. It thundered through the hall, making the ghosts tremble.

After the scolding, the letter burst into flames and turned to ash.

The hall was silent, then erupted in laughter.

Seeing Draco's pale face, Ron gloated. "That guy is lazy. Can't even clean his own room."

While the others laughed, Harry was suspicious.

At the bookstore, this Lucius would rather fight an underage wizard than bow his head.

Why would a man so obsessed with his image send a Howler to the school, humiliating his own son?

Harry thought: The ancients said, 'Do not air family shame.' To make such a fuss over a messy room... it doesn't make sense.

As he pondered, Hermione leaned in. "Harry, do you feel something is wrong, too?"

Harry was surprised. "Big Sister sees it as well?"

"Of course. That message was too strange. 'Think of your own life.' What kind of 'trash' is that deadly?"

Harry tapped his saber. "Indeed. And when we caught the pixies, that scoundrel just sat there, acting suspiciously. I wonder what evil plot he brought to Hogwarts."

Hearing "Hogwarts," Hermione gasped. "Dobby!"

"What Dobby?" Ron mumbled, swallowing a bite of fish. "What are you talking about?"

Hermione said excitedly, "The house-elf who harassed Harry! He said a great crisis was coming to Hogwarts this year!"

She explained the strange message to Ron, who also began to think.

"Hiss~ That makes sense. House-elves usually serve pure-blood families. The Malfoys must have one!"

"Wait." Hermione frowned. "If Dobby's master is Malfoy, does that mean the 'crisis' is something Draco is doing? But what is it?"

Ron shrugged. "Who knows? Maybe Lucius is planning to offer his precious son as a new body for You-Know-Who."

Harry scowled. "Damned hells! Can't I even go to school in peace? This one will tie up that scoundrel tonight and interrogate him!"

"Harry, you can't. Lucius is a school governor. He has almost as much power as Dumbledore."

Ron advised, "And kidnapping, beating, and threatening a classmate... you'll probably end up in Azkaban."

Hermione's eyes lit up. "We just need to sneak into the Slytherin common room and search Draco's things."

"How?" Ron asked. "With Harry's cloak?"

"Of course not. The portrait wouldn't let us in." Hermione thought. "We can find a way in the library."

"There are thousands of magic books there. One of them must have a way to infiltrate."

As the three whispered, Colin Creevey, who had been waiting patiently, spoke up. "Harry, can I take your picture now?"

"Aiya! This one was so busy talking, I forgot Brother Colin. My apologies! Please, take your picture!"

For the next few days, the trio spent every spare moment in the library, searching for a way into the Slytherin common room.

They found nothing in the main section and were planning to use the Invisibility Cloak to search the Restricted Section.

Before they could, a commotion started in Gryffindor.

The Quidditch captain, Oliver Wood, was recruiting a new Seeker.

"Our team needs a Seeker! Anyone interested?"

"Preferably young, with a lot of free time. Our training is intense!"

Wood spotted Harry. "Hey, Harry! Interested?"

"You're a natural flyer. It's a shame to waste it."

Harry wasn't interested, until he heard "natural flyer." He asked, "How do you mean?"

"Oh, you didn't know? Your father was a brilliant Seeker. He's got a trophy in the trophy room."

Hearing this, Harry, knowing his father had excelled here, felt a desire to try. He clasped his hands. "If that is the case, this one must give it a go."

"Brilliant!" Wood beamed. "Tryouts are this Saturday, 8 AM. Quidditch pitch."

On Saturday, Ron and Hermione accompanied Harry to the pitch. Wood was waiting.

A long line of hopefuls was trying out, while the other Gryffindor players acted as obstacles.

Harry stood on the sidelines, watching, amazed.

This Quidditch is fascinating. Though it is just a few people competing, it secretly conforms to the "sand table" strategies of military deployment.

Forward scouts, flanking cavalry, and defenders... it has everything.

He watched, mesmerized, then shook his head.

The formation is complete, but the offensive and defensive tactics are childish. If I had proposed such a flawed strategy back on Mount Liang, the 'Divine strategist' (Zhu Wu) would have laughed his belly sore.

"Morning, Harry."

Wood came over, smiling. "Our team is great, right? Excellent coordination, don't you think?"

As Wood boasted, Harry clasped his hands. "Brother, do not be offended, but this one sees only a hundred flaws."
