I felt the echo of bells ringing in my head as I struggled to open my eyes. The tapping on my shoulder grew harder, and I groaned as I slowly forced my eyes open, responding to the tapping and the repeated sound of my name.
My eyelids fluttered for a second, then shut again as a thin line of blood ran from my forehead to my neck.
"That was one hell of a crash," Ruka murmured inside my mind.
"Hmm," I groaned, wincing in pain as strong arms carefully lifted me out of the wrecked car. I managed to open my eyes again, meeting his gaze as he looked down at me.
My vision cleared, and the ringing in my head faded. "Draven!" I shouted, my voice full of mixed emotions, as I jerked out of his hold and landed on the ground, catching myself with my hands. I stood quickly and rushed toward him, hitting his chest with my fists.
