"What are you talking about? What did I do to you? Or… don't tell me you had a naughty dream about me," Viktor teased.
How did he know?
"No, I didn't have any dream," I denied quickly, though my eyes betrayed me. He was staring into them so seriously that it made my heart skip.
Then I noticed Nilo and Nico sitting on the floor, happily playing with toys. But… I hadn't bought those toys for them.
Both of them looked up at me at the same time.
"Dad, you're awake! Look—Viktor brought us these toys. He's such a nice person!" they said together, smiling.
It was already evening. Wait—had I really slept that long?
"When did you guys wake up? And how's Ken?" I asked.
"I'm totally fine," Ken's voice drifted from the other side of the room.
I turned my head and saw him sitting at the dining table, sipping water.
"How are you feeling now? You should go to a doctor. They'll prescribe you some medicine," I said.
He shook his head. No. I couldn't force him if he didn't want to go.
I rubbed my eyes; they were still blurry from sleep. When my vision cleared, I caught Viktor staring at me.
His eyes… they were practically telling me he was hungry for me.
I stepped down from the sofa and went to Ken. I checked his temperature, and he was fine, so I went back to my room to freshen up.
Inside, I washed my face, and by the time I came out, I saw Viktor had already ordered takeout and was setting the food on the table.
I stepped out of the room, my eyes lingering on him as he moved.
"Why did you order takeout? I could have made something to eat," I said as I walked over to the dining table.
"What do you mean, why? You're tired too. How could I let you work for us this much? That's why I ordered takeout—so you could also rest," Viktor replied.
I smiled at his words and helped him take the food out of the parcels, serving it onto everyone's plates.
We all sat down to eat. Even Ken was eating now, and Nilo and Nico were happily enjoying their food as well.
I fed Viktor between bites of my own, stealing moments to eat while making sure he was cared for too.
Once dinner was finished, Nico and Nilo helped me wash the dishes, while Viktor stayed with us for the night. He slept beside Nilo and Nico, while Ken and I shared a bed. The night passed in the blink of an eye.
The next day, just after I finished my shower, I got a call. When I checked, it was from Adam, so I quickly answered.
(Zane) "Hello, Adam?"
(Adam) "Hey, Zane! How are you? Did you get your problem solved? If yes, then come to the company to sign the contract with us. I can't wait to work with a talented artist like you!"
(Zane) "Actually… my son was kidnapped yesterday, so I don't think I can leave them alone at home right now. I don't think I can become an actor."
As I said that, I suddenly felt a tap on my back. I turned around and saw Viktor standing there, his hair messy, his eyes half-sleepy.
"I'll take care of the kids. You go and work," Viktor said.
But… why would he take care of my kids? They weren't even his.
(Zane) "Adam, I'll call you later."
I hung up and turned to Viktor.
"Do you realize what you're saying? You're the CEO of that big Light Entertainment company, so why would you become the babysitter for my kids?"
Viktor stepped forward at my words. In the next moment, he slammed me against the wall, his hand firm as his eyes locked with mine.
I looked up into his eyes, refusing to glance away.
"Just focus on your dream and leave the kids to me. Trust me, I won't hurt them," he said firmly.
"Why would you do something like this for me? Someone you only met yesterday?" I asked, my voice low with doubt.
Hearing that, he leaned closer, his breath brushing against my ear. The closeness made my skin tingle, every inch of me aware of him.
"Because I have an interest in you. Did that answer your question?"
My eyes widened at his words. I pushed him back by the chest, grabbed my tab, and hurried into the bathroom.
Once inside, I quickly ran a background check on Viktor. At first, nothing came up—he seemed like a ghost. But when I dug into the black web, the truth appeared right away.
Viktor Blair.
He was no ordinary man. He was the biggest mafia boss—dealing in weapons and countless other illegal trades.
The most ruthless and cruel of them all. A man who never so much as flinched, even after taking a life.
He was far more dangerous than he looked. And yet, he was also the CEO of Light Entertainment. It wasn't written anywhere, but Adam himself had told me that Viktor was the company's CEO—so it had to be true.
A dangerous man… one who was like the devil himself.
I was still shaken by his words, that he had an interest in me. Sure enough, it had to be a lie. Why would someone like him ever have interest in a man?
Viktor was twenty-eight years old. That made him three years older than me—I was twenty-five now.
But should I really leave my sons with such a dangerous man? No, I couldn't do that. We can't trust anyone in this world—not even family or love. So how could I ever trust a complete stranger, especially one with such a concerning background?
No. I would take my kids with me, no matter what.
I sent a message to someone before stepping out of the bathroom.
Today, Ken was also leaving. Since he was injured, he decided to return to his hometown and live with his parents from now on. He had earned enough money already, so it was time for him to rest.
After Ken left, I turned to Viktor.
"You can go too, Viktor. I'll take both of my sons to the company with me. I don't want to bother you," I said, my voice firm enough to make it clear.
There was no need for him to stay here. And I didn't need his help either.
"Oh, so that's your answer? Okay then. Nico, Nilo, let's meet later since your dad is kicking me out right now," Viktor whined before leaving.
Once he was gone, I gave both kids a bath, and we soon left as well. A car was already waiting for us outside the building.
It was a navy blue car. As we approached, the window rolled down, revealing a man with striking blue hair and blue eyes. His build was almost the same as Viktor's.
"Vine, thank you for coming!" I said.
"When you called, how could I not come? From today, I'll be your driver or manager since I don't have any work these days. I'm looking for something good to do anyway," he replied.
Vine was someone I had met back in school. He was also a graduate of Elava School. That's where we first met—and how we came to know each other.
"Haha, sure! You can be my driver or bodyguard, since the company will provide a manager of their own," I said.
Vine pouted, unlocked the car door, and we all got inside, settling into the backseat.
He had even brought chocolates for Nico and Nilo, but they refused to take them, eyeing him suspiciously.
I couldn't help but notice their cautious behavior—acting all guarded—when they had spent time with someone as dangerous as Viktor without any worry at all.
By the time we reached the company, Vine stayed back to take care of the kids, and I stepped out alone.
He planned to take them for a quick drive, buy something for them to eat, and even thought of taking them to a kids' park.
I had given him my permission because I trusted him completely. Unlike Ken, Vine was very strong. Not that I was judging Ken or anything—it's just… well, it's nothing like that.
"Be good for Uncle Vine, babies," I said, giving a quick peck on Nico's and Nilo's cheeks before leaving.
Once I entered the company, I noticed that the girl who usually sat at the main desk was no longer there. A different girl was sitting there now.
Don't tell me they fired her because of the last accident…
I stepped forward, and this time no one stopped me. I went straight to the elevator and headed to Adam's office.
When I stepped inside, someone was already sitting across from Adam, talking with him.
Adam was a handsome man with brown hair and brown eyes. His skin was dusky—not as fair as Viktor's—but he had his own charm. Even with that dusky complexion, he looked like a chocolate boy, attractive in his own way.
The person sitting across from him had pink hair and hazel eyes. His skin was milky white, and he was so small that, from behind, I almost thought he was a child. Despite being a boy, he looked strikingly beautiful and cute.
