Chapter 16 - Unexpected Help

"Why should I compensate you when you did it deliberately?" Coral raised her voice.

"Oh, so after ruining my dress you're blaming me?" Elvira retorted, greeting her teeth.

"What happened?" A man asked as he made his way through the crowd.

Only then did Coral notice that people had gathered around them. She swallowed nervously as all their gazes landed on her, accusation clearly reflected in their eyes. Some of the faces were ones she had seen in the office, but even their expressions were accusatory, as if they already believed Elvira.

"She spilled juice on my dress intentionally and ruined my dress! It's a costly gown I bought from William's. And now she's refusing to compensate me." Elvira narrated, as if she were the victim of a heinous crime.

The man looked at Coral. She assumed him to be the event manager.

"She's lying. I didn't do anything." Coral said, hoping that the man would believe her.
