Chapter 3 - One who faced the sun

"Oh, is that so? Mere mortals dare attempt to trample on my beloved cattle?"

Hearing a prayer from his beloved island of Thrinacia, where his sheep and cattle lived. The sun god would be quickly alerted and disturbed after hearing this news, using his chariot to speed over at the speed of light.

And so, the Sun God, Helios, had descended.

The crew members would be stunned by this, combined with the fact that their friend Perimedes had just tackled the second-in-command, Eurylochus, they all dropped to their knees in confusion.

William would kneel and look downward to the lush ground, as if not willing to desecrate the sun god's presence with his own eyes. He would use his plagiarizing skill to act extremely apologetic.

"Great sun god, I apologize deeply for their actions. Please, don't hurt them! We were out of food and out of options! This was their only choice!"

"That is not for you to decide, mortal. They dared to provoke me, so now they must pay the price."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

"A trial taker must reach The Conclusion of a story to leave it? What does that entail Kael?"

William would flashback to conversation he had with his mentor, a long time ago.

"The conclusion of a story means to finish what the original story plot was. Or atleast that's what those old geezers at the association keep rambling on about. The truth is, there are many ways to complete a story, following the original is only one of them. For example! You could try to search for inspiration from the original objective of the story instead, and try to solve that problem instead Will. It will be easier than using the other strategy anyway."

Kaelus would impart some useful knowledge to William offhandedly, while sitting on his rosewood armchair sipping on some tea.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Back in the present, a giant blazing sun would appear right above the crew's heads. The men screamed. They ran. They cried. But it was all for naught.

For the Greek Pantheon housed the pettiest of god's.

"Burn."

The giant sun descended on the crew melting them all alive except for two people, exempting Odysseus aswell as William, perhaps because of his relationship with Athena, the greek goddess of wisdom, who was his mentor.

William would watch them burn and scream.

Without even the slightest sense of remorse. The crew also died in the original Odyssey, so this didn't impact the story much at all, their deaths held some meaning though, for the captain seemed to slump even lower onto the ground, completely and utterly devastated.

After brutalizing the entire crew, Helios would cast his burning gaze upon William once more. It felt like the heat of the sun was targeted specifically at him for a brief moment.

"Mortal, for stopping them from slaughtering my cattle, you have my gratitude. I shall grant you one request, what do you desire?"

This was what he was waiting for. A chance to profit.

"Oh great almighty powerful sun god, my captain has angered the sea god, Poseidon, and invoked his wrath. Now there lies a storm preventing us from returning home, worse still, he is lurking around in the seas near our homeland waiting for a time to strike. Is there anything you could do to help us oh great almighty sun god!"

[Attribute: Plagiarist is activating harder than ever!]

Helios would look down on this pitiful mortal thinking:

"What a sorry sight. I might aswell help him fend off that fish-brained octopus. He did save my favorite cattle, so I suppose I can grace him with my blessing."

"Mortal, I shall grant you a boon. A temporary bestowal of power. It is up to you to use the abilities granted to defeat that octopus headed starfish."

"I didn't know the Greek Gods were this antagonistic to one another....Anyways-"

William would quietly question Helios and Poseidon's relationship.

"Really! Oh great powerful venerable sun god, I am forever in your debt, I may finally have a chance at returning home!"

Helios would then extend his hand, and a portion of his power would envelop William's kneeling body. Wrapping around him like a snake. From William's perspective, his vision was suddenly engulfed by a bright light and he smelled the scent of a Morningstar flower.

After a bit, the light went away and William regained his vision, only to see that Helios had left. But not before leaving a gift.

[You have received a Divine Bestowal!]

[You have received a new Title!]

Titles were marks of one's achievements inside of stories. They possessed a trademarked ability. Meaning that only one person may have a certain title at a time, differing from attributes, which allowed for multiple people to possess.

[Title: One Who Faced The Sun, has been granted!]

[Description: A cowardly reader attempted to trick the Sun God by acting like a depressed onion cutting itself. And by the grace of the Sun God, he didn't die.]

[Title Ability(s):]

[Light resistance: You have resistance against light and cannot be blinded by it. ]

[Heat resistance: You withstood the gaze of the Sun itself, you are now able to withstand intense heat without damage.]

"I guess that'll be pretty useful if I come across anyone with heat and or light powers."

"Now for the real surprise!"

William would rub his hands together greedily as he stared at the screen infront of him.

[Divine Bestowal: Sun God (Helios)(Temporary)]

[Abilities Granted: The ability to wield the power of the sun, albeit to a lesser degree.]

[Chariot: The wielder can use any lifeless object as a chariot and fly, however not at the speed of light, closer to the speed of sound.]

[Blessing of the Sun: The wielder can imbue living objects with light and warmth to soothe them and heal them.]

[Light and Flame Manipulation: The ability to use the abilities corresponding to the sun. For example, shooting light beams or fireballs.]

[Sun Summoning: A one-use ability, will expend all of the Creativity you have, to summon an artificial sun, able to turn night into day. And dispel darkness and degeneration. The full capabilities of the sun will only show itself once it is summoned.]

"Nice, these are some cool abiliti- Creativity? If I remember correctly that's-"

Creativity was the main energy source for readers as Kaelus had once told him. Both metaphorically and literally. It was similar to the mana shown in most of fantasy media on Earth.

Will would be very satisfied with the abilities he had received, more than he had expected honestly. Perhaps there was some underlying animosity between the two god's that led to such a result.

Just as he was thinking this, he suddenly heard a hoarse voice from behind.

"Perimedes.....what happened."

It belonged to none other than the king of Ithaca, and his "captain", Odysseus. Who he had almost forgotten about.

[Attribute: Plagiarist is activating!]

"Captain....I-I....don't know. I tried to plead for their survival, but it ended in failure. Please...forgive me."

"No, this wasn't your fault, if they had gone through and killed the cattle it would have ended the same way. Let us be thankful atleast the two of us made it out alive."

"Yes sir."

William held a great amount of respect for Odysseus, he was one of the only heroes in greek mythology that tended to use his brain. Infact, he was hailed as the smartest man in Greece before. As someone whose intelligence was horrifically average, he could only imagine what the man was thinking of at the moment.

And that was what scared him.
