Chapter 22 - Philistine (1)

The next day students were already gathered at the lecture hall, and Wei An had been late to get up. He dressed as fast as he could, then hurried to get to class. As Wei An made his way to class, he realized that the white fox had been following him from behind.

Haa... What the hell is this kid doing?

...

Why didn't I sense this fox's presence earlier?

"Human, keep going. Aren't you late?"

"Why are you following me?"

"I'm bored."

"Ask Alfred to entertain you then."

"I don't want to. That old man is strange."

"What do you mean?"

"Figure it out yourself."

Hah. What's the point of keeping this damn fox anyway? Should I just ask Alfred to throw it out?

After walking for a bit more, Wei An entered the class with the white fox. Students stared at him for a long while; there was a short pause of silence before Wei An finally took his seat. Thankfully, there wasn't a professor present.

"Hey, hey!" A familiar elven voice could be heard as Wei An sat down. He was also greeted with a nod by his seatmate.

"..."

"Why are you late?"

"I slept in."

"Whoa, well. I never thought you of all nobles would be like that."

"Why's that?"

"Well, I heard that your household was very strict and, well, how should I put it? Weird?"

"How weird?"

Just as Sylvia was about to open her mouth, Shin cleared his throat, interrupting their conversation.

"Haa... I don't think that kind of conversation is appropriate in front of Young Master Wei An."

"Ah! Right. Sorry!"

"You should be saying sorry to young master Wei An."

Wei An sighed and interrupted the two, "It's fine, I didn't take offense. Let's just talk about these things later."

"Hmph. Well, at least the professor isn't here yet, you would've gotten a penalty for being late a second time," Slyvia stated, giggling a little.

"You can get a penalty for being late? " Wei An whispered to Sylvia.

"Well duh!" Sylvia looked at Wei An as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

"You didn't read the handbook the Academy gave, did you? "

"There was a handbook? "

"Hah—so that's why you're so clueless…"

Just then a familiar presence stepped into the class, a certain brown-haired professor finally came in, and the room became quiet. "Settle down class. Let us start."

The professor then settled down on his seat, taking out a clear crystalized ball and placing it on his table. As he began setting up his thing, a student spoke up, "Professor Syprys, what are we going to do with that mana device?"

Ah, I wondered what it was. I guess that's how a mana device looks like here. Looks like a crystal ball used in fortune-telling.

"We'll be measuring your mana capacity and your elemental capabilities. I trust you students know the basics, as we already discussed it. After this we will proceed with magic control in theory and practical assessments."

Hm...I guess I should get to know this body's skills. Come to think of it, I never really tried testing out the skills I learned from the previous Wei An's memories… Well, I guess this is an opportunity to get to know more about this new body of mine.
