Chapter 163 - “Was this you?”

Silence followed. 

Alexander's posture changed subtly, like something inside him had clicked into place.

"That water," he said carefully. "It was brought specifically for you?"

Evelyn nodded, tears streaming freely now.

"Yes," she whispered. "It was meant for me and not for her."

The implication settled into the corridor like a suffocating fog.

Margaret's grip on her cane tightened and Pauline went pale.

Gregory's face hardened as the protective father replaced by the businessman who knew exactly what this meant.

Alexander felt the last thread of doubt snap.

This wasn't misfortune, this wasn't fate and this was intent.

His gaze drifted to the trauma room doors again and his jaw clenched so tightly it ached.

Someone hadn't just tried to ruin a wedding.

They had aimed at Evelyn and Patricia had taken the hit instead.

Alexander stepped closer to Evelyn, placing his hands firmly on her shoulders, grounding her.
