The chairman rose up angrily and left for his bedroom leaving behind his newspaper.Venom of hatred and envy clouded their mind and oozed out of their eyes as they stared at Elisha .
"Honey. We should be on our way home" Elisha said standing up, giving her husband that sly smile that passed across tons of messages. Ryan ran to Elisha and whispered.
"Mom. I'm scared of grandpa. Let me follow you home"
"Did you tell Grandpa already?" Elisha asked because she knew to get the permission to take Ryan home would be battle against demons Ryan shook his head with a sad face. Elisha looked at Patrick who was now standing beside them while the hypocrites sat there looking at them.
"Honey. What do you think? Ryan will love to go home"
"Let's go sort it out with grandpa" Patrick said holding Ryan's hands. They left for the Chairman's chamber with little Ryan. The rule was to knock. They knocked and Madam Ronnie came out.
"What's it?" She gave a stern serious look. Everybody knew Chairman's mood denoted Madam Ronnie's too.That face displayed no joke.
"We want to take Ryan home to spend a week or two" Madam Ronnie nodded and closed the door. She opened it after a minute.
"The chairman said..Go with him. You should teach him to be bold. He is just too scared for my liking" Elisha and Patrick fake a loud laughter so as not to make Ryan feel bad.
They left for the car and a servant came with Ryan's luggage. As soon as they entered the car, little Ryan burst into tears.
"What's it son?"Patrick and Elisha asked in unison with great concern "Grandpa hates me" "No son. Grandpa loves you" Elisha said using her handkerchief to wipe his tears.
"No. He do say mean words to me. He even slapped me for getting scared of dog" Elisha exchanged glances with Patrick with shock written all over their faces.
"So sorry my love. I will talk to grandpa about that" The families were already going out and were entering their cars. Elisha stormed out of the car and walked straight to the Chairman's chamber. She didn't even knock. Fortunately, the chairman was there sitting down with his newspaper.
"Dad!" She shouted at him. This caught the attention of the chairman. He dropped the newspaper on the table designed with a plate of fruits and a bottle of fruit wine and looked at Elisha.
"Dad! I can accept anything but not you beating my son. A small boy for crying out loud. I accepted the fact that you neglected mom and I when I was young but don't you dare treat my son anyhow" Elisha rained out words without even taking a breath.
"Okay' The chairman continued with his reading with little or no concern. The chairman never considered himself a father to any of his children. He just derived pleasure in sleeping with their mothers and unfortunately, it resulted into pregnancy. Though Elisha's mother was different.He was forced to marry her when his own father wanted him to inherit his company that wasn't as developed as the Ok construction he put everything he had into to make it the best. Elisha stormed out the same way she stormed in when the chairman couldn't say anything.
"I spoke with him already. You will be staying with mom again. Okay?"
"Thank you mom" He hugged Elisha 'Not even dad?" Patrick said starting the car "I love you too dad" Little Ryan said happily Patrick smiled and blew him kisses before driving out of the mansion.In no time, they got home and Ryan was fast asleep. Patrick carried him and they went inside. He laid him on his bed covered with toys.Elisha went for a cool shower.By the time she got to the bedroom,Patrick was also preparing to go shower. "Honey.Your father must be a psychopath for treating a small boy like that"
"Don't you dare talk about my father like that anymore"
"You won't beat me if I do"
"You couldn't even stand up for your son. I did" The argument started burning up.
"Do you want to become a widow? Patrick asked, adjusting his towel on his waist. "if he could treat my boy like that, he would have stabbed me if I was the one that went there "
"You're just a coward that can't protect his family" Elisha said almost crying.
"You can say that again honey" Patrick mocked before entering the bathroom. Patrick had hardly entered the bathroom when his phone vibrated. Elisha took the phone and it was a message.
"When are we going to meet?"
"At our usual hotel" Elisha quickly replied after she was sure Patrick wasn't out.
"Is your wife not there? You replied so fast"
"She's in the bathroom "
"oh..I want you to myself the whole night tomorrow. You had better do something about her."
"Trust me. I will"
"I love you babe"
" I love you more and more. I can't wait to have you" Elisha was so engrossed in replying that she didn't know when Patrick came in.
"What are you doing with my phone?" Elisha was startled but she quickly released the expression and put on a bold one.
"Who's sunshine?"
"Honey don't start again this night. Our son is here"
Elisha adjusted her night gown and walked up to her husband that was having just a towel on him.
"You will tell me who she is"
"And if I refuse?" Patrick turned angrily to his wife.
" We will both die here today" She sank her teeth into his breast.Patrick felt a sharp knife instead. He couldn't shout because of their son. All he could do was gnawing his teeth. When he couldn't take it anymore, he landed on her a slap that removed her teeth from his breast. He angrily dragged her up and gave her a punch which she was quick to dodge. She landed him a good kick under his towel and he screamed, staring on the floor as if his balls were out already.Ryan ran in.
"Mum! What's it?" He asked rubbing his eyes.
"Why's daddy screaming?"
"Honey. Dad and I are having fun" Elisha said stepping Patrick on his toes before running to Ryan. Patrick quickly changed his screaming to song.
"oh oh oh oh" "Oh.. son... you're here"
"Dad. Is everything okay?"
