Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 Family

Samuel Sol has awoken some time now with the help of the wet sheets underneath him.

It was of course a great shame for him to lose control having already lived seventy years before, but for his current body it was only a natural phenomenon.

He stayed there, helpless to do anything about the mess himself but to wait alone with his thoughts. Being reborn in an infant baby's body, the main topic that still troubled him.

A couple minutes after the wet accident, a woman entered the room and headed towards him.

She quickly reached the crib and towered over him. While she was observing him, Samuel Sol was observing her back.

She appeared to be young in age, with no wrinkles on her angelic face to embellish it. Her clear brown eyes were looking at him full of love and affection. Her soft and warm smile gave more color to the room while her amber waist long hair, with a few short strands cascading in the crib above him, amplified the overall positive aura she exuded.

'Ah, if I had grandchildren in my past life, they should have been at this young woman's age.' Samuel Sol sighed from within.

As weird as the circumstance of him being younger than the woman in front of him was, it didn't compare to the peculiar aura she was emanating.

'This motherly presence and the warm feeling that has begun warming up my insides.... this should be my new mother!'

Upon realizing who stood over him, Sol couldn't help but think of his first mother.

Tears began cascading down his round red cheeks as he was reminded of his mother's warm smile and cuddles but also of her tragic death.

He was only six years old back then, but he had to witness the gruesome murder of his mother by a couple of thieves, who cornered her on her way back from the Sanctuary market, one street away from their house.

He was helpless at the time to do anything to prevent her death by those ruffians and instead had to watch as his mother bled on the sidewalk while they escaped after the deed.

That was his first loss and also his first regret which filled him with grief and anger. How much he wished to have had the power and prevent it, or at least avenger her, only the cruel and uncaring god knew.

Suddenly, he felt a strong force pulling him out of his painful memories. The current mother of this life had taken him in her arms and lifted him off the crib.

Still warmly smiling, the woman observed him a little more from up close. As if noticing something on his face she went on to check the sheets. When she felt the wetness on them, her smile grew more caring than before as she stared at Sol.

Sol then saw the woman parting her lovely lips for words to come out of them, but for Sol they might as well have been gibberish; he didn't understand anything.

What followed after that was one of the most embarrassing moments he had experienced in his two lives. What was the worst thing about it was that he knew he would need to experience it many times more before he was going to be free from it.

Not long after, he was placed in the crib again, still dejected from the horrid experience of being fully undressed.

The woman took one final look at him and then left the room as quietly as she had entered it.

He was left there lying on the crib, unable to do anything more than to ponder the surreal circumstances he had found himself in.

Later that day, around early evening if he judged correctly from the sunlight entering through the windows, he was picked up by his new mother again and brought to another adjacent room.

This room was almost the same as the previous one. The only differences being its size, as it was smaller, and the furniture it contained.

There was a table with four chairs in front of him and two cabinets on the left, next to the stone wall while a door was in front of him.

A wooden fence-like wall, one meter (three feet) high, was acting as a divider separating the room in two, with the table on its left and a stone counter with kitchen utensils and weird devices on its right.

A rich aroma was coming from the kitchen side, causing Sol's young baby's stomach to growl. The woman giggled a little at the sound as she headed towards the kitchen.

She held him tightly and safely in one arm while she used the other to stir the food. Being so close, Sol was shocked.

But not because of the heat as he was a good distance away, nor because of the food that was being cooked, there was nothing strange to it, it was just some kind of soup or broth, and neither because of the pot, as it was just a normal metal pot.

What shocked him was the appliance underneath it which provided the heat for the cooking. There was no burner and no flames either.

The pot was placed atop a metal circular frame, five centimeters (~two inches) above the main device which itself was a one meter (three feet) or so high, rectangular metallic block.

On the smooth top surface of that appliance-block and beneath the pot, three circular lines of greenish color – one inside the other - were glowing vibrantly. Heat haze could be clearly seen emanating from them.

'What is that?!' he incredibly thought, as that was something not even his seventy years of life and experiences could provide an answer for.

The first thought that came to his mind about the device, which was also the incredible thing about it, was that it didn't seem to require any kind of ignition or combustion to provide heat.

But as someone who has worked in the energy field in his past life, he knew that should have normally been impossible. There was only one exception he could think of that may explain what was happening here.

An unknown energy to him was being used; an energy its existence was outside of his knowledge.

'If that is true, then this life would turn out to be worth living!' Instead of being scared of the unknown, Sol began feeling excited about this second chance of life.

"Click, shaaa." The door to the right of the table opened.

A man entered and greeted Sol's new mother with a kiss on the lips.

Sol stared awkwardly at the two having - what they thought was - a private moment. This was clearly his new father.

After greeting him back, his new mother passed him to the man so she could prepare the table.

Sol was helpless as he stared up at his new father making stupid faces to him.

The man was of a young age, just like his new mother. He had dark brown hair and eyes and his face was rough; unkept stubble filled his lower cheeks, chin and upper throat, sometimes prickling Sol when the man decided to be extra fondly.

His eyes instead were gentle when he looked at him, his firstborn son, as the facts so far have shown. He was holding him gently and with care with both of his hands, making sure he was secure.

And that was when Sol noticed something out of place.
