Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: Ascend

In the mountains winds were raging violently, the storm didn't show any signs of stopping and neither did we. Mr. Red's tremendous raw strength was coming in handy, the path which seemed unwalkable, the jumps which were too high even for me, he trampled over them with ease. We cleaved our way through the mountains with ease.

"But are you sure that creature is hostile?" Mr. Red grunted.

"Oh?" I patted his big shoulder to reassure him. "Don't worry, even with this horrendous appearance that creature is under my complete control."

Mr. Red glanced at the monstrosity which was tailing him since the beginning. A naked human running in an uncanny manner, his head was drooped all the time, his limbs just swayed along the wind as if they were weightless and most creepy which bother Mr. Red was that it didn't pant at all, it rarely breathed.

A seasoned warrior like Mr. Red had developed a habit of monitoring people's respiration, it helped him detect his target and judge a person's intentions.

'You should kill that bloodkin. It is unpleasant to have him around.' Dora whispered into my mind.

I smirked and decide to tease her. 'Wow. You actually know about bloodkins? Your master must have been a powerful demon.'

The mouse peeked it's head from my pocket. 'I need no one's assistance, I can create bloodkins and other undeads on my own. I was a witch after all.'

"How prideful." I mumbled as I extended my hand to my bloodkin.

Mr. Red noticed the 'human' behind him started to breathe heavily.

The bloodkin jumped and literally folded itself into a sheet to slither inside my coat. Mr. Red stopped and took out his great sword. "Your underling. Where did it go?"

I hopped of Mr. Red's back, stretching my back as my new 'shirt' makes itself comfortable. "I ordered it to stay low. Anyhow we should hurry to the dungeon city, to find Alexia."

Mr. Red puts his sword away. "Once we reach there, how are we going to find her?"

"I have a plan." He nods at me and urges me to climb on his back.

We breeze through the forest with no fear, so fast that we reach dungeon city in half the time I usually take to traverse.

"Where to?" Mr. Red asks me as we are nearing the city.

"Somewhere higher."

"Hold on tight!"

Just as we are about to set foot on stone pathway, Mr. Red jumps. He jumps over every tall building, so high that felt that I could reach the actual dungeon pit itself. The people beneath just stared at us in awe.

Without any warning, Mr. Red threw me at a nearby building. "W-What?"

A flying fire arrow pierced his arm, I looked down to see a familiar person. "FINALLY I GOT YOU!" Myleane yelled while her arm burned violently, her carnivorous smile directed at me.

"Altaris! Find Alex! Leave her to me!"

I barely manage to land at the edge of the building. "Woah, woah!" I clicked my tongue as I hear people screaming everywhere and flames popping from nowhere. "That bitch, still on me."

'Do you want me to help that old man?' Dora asks in mischievous tone.

I dig my pocket and pull her out.

'Huh?'

"I have another important task for you, my little battery."

She shivers in my fingers. "Don't cry now, we are now going to ascend now. Together!"

I spread my white magic circle on the floor. Lightening flashes in the distance. 'You don't mean…'

"Yes! We are going to dual channel, to reach 5th circle."

Dora squeaked in fear. '5th? What about 3rd and 4th?'

I smiled at her and lifted her up in the sky. The poor mouse squirreled uncontrollably as every strand of her hair body stood up and so did mine. I ignored her cries and tapped my foot.

The sky above my head flashed blue before a powerful lightning bolt struck us. I felt the sudden surge of mana in my body, many veins in my body popped in an instant, my bones were on the verge of being crushed and body fried itself from inside out. My knees gave out but bloodkin spread itself all over my body, he kept me from collapsing.

"URAHHH!" After two seconds of pure agony, my soul finally inhaled for the first time. It devoured the mana like a hungry predator, my body began to break as it couldn't handle this much raw mana. Yet, my soul yearned for more. It wanted to more.

What should have been quick three second charge, lasted till twelve. My body glowed blue, on the edge of explosion. At the last second, I diverted all of my excess mana into Dora. The mouse screamed in pain.

'Just a few seconds.' The lightning bolt finally dissipated, I immediately turned Dora towards pit and she blasted a pure mana beam into the dungeon. It was so bright, that it felt like daytime for a moment.

I fell on my ass and began laughing. "Hahahah! That was incredible, far more effective than last time."

Dora laid unconscious on my chest, she burped in response. "Ugh. So much for being a lady."

I somehow stood up with the help of bloodkin who morphed back into his human form. "Now let's find her."

I rubbed my eyes which were full of blood and spread my mana field. It kept on increasing beyond my initial capabilities, until it almost an entire north side of dungeon city and a bit of pit area. "Hmm, just over kilometre."

I searched in every corner, the alleyways, houses even the sewers but Alexia was nowhere to be found. "Is she on the other side?"

Suddenly the entire building shook and giant pillar of flame emerged from my back. A half burned body of Mr. Red was thrown at me. He looked pretty badly injured, his face completely blackened and his chest contained several holes.

Myleane walked out of the pillar, she was still in her bikini armour but something had changed. She pointed her long war spear in my direction. "I am done playing, kid. Hand me the blade. I don't know where you obtained but, it belongs to someone very dear to me."

'Someone dear, you say?'

Two warriors in red armour appeared behind me, they were armed from head to toe. In my mana field, I noticed a mage casting a spell not too far away.

I took Melsier's sword and unsheathed it. "If you want this, then come and get it!"
