I awoke groggy with the contradictory feeling of being full of energy and wanting to move. I was hot and cold, hungry in a way I couldn't quite understand. My mind felt faster, my body tighter. I stood while rubbing away nasty dry eye boogers. My armor stood covered in branches and vines all held on my Forretresses sap. My tent had branches upon it and a small earth wall around it. Above me was Forretress levitating in the tree line. I could see Sandslash curled up in a small dirt burrow and Pikachu at the entrance of the small camp with a bottle of ketchup in hand.
It took a while to orient myself and dig out some emergency food for us but I eventually managed to do so and ate everything I could. I cleaned off my armor and attempted to put it on but found I for some reason didn't fit. Seems whatever happened to me had caused me to grow. I already had my suspicions about what it was but I wanted to actually check before making any conclusions.
I re-hid my armor and locked it up then popped back into cerulean city to restock my supplies and grab what I'd need to expand my armor. I couldn't get ahold of armor plating level steel but I had the stuff I had previously acquired. The protective pads and the assault vest both had high quality steel perfect for reshaping my armor to fit me.
I quickly retooled my armor and put it on and restarted making my way to Saffron. While looking through the info I had downloaded in this world I suddenly noticed my armors heat sensors were going off. I had been peacefully walking to saffron and studying when I get attacked. I looked around for the source of the pitiful attack and found my Pokemon standing behind me and looking to my other side. There standing at the edge of the trees was a small rusty brown pup breathing a small stream of flames at me. It was probably the most ineffective thing I'd ever been attacked with besides something like a match.
I scanned the small dog through the flames and found that the tiny little vulpine was malnourished. Studies showed that Pokemon did sometimes abandon the runts in order to make sure that the healthy children survived and it looked like this little one had been left behind. I turned away from the Pokemon and flipped my bag to my hands and pulled out some Pokemon food.
I threw my bag onto my back and cupped some food in my hands. The weak gouts of flame stopped as I crouched down and put the pile of food on the ground. I laid down in my side and added some berries to the pokefood. The tiny vulpix hit me with some more flames and started to inch forward. My other Pokemon stayed back as it approached and I activated the locks in my armor to hold me still.
When the vulpix got to the food it sniffed them shot me with more flames before grabbing a berry and hiding in the bushes while eating it. A few hours of the vulpix doing this later the food was gone. It's big sad eyes peered at me through leaves as I pulled some more food out and set it closer to me. Another small blast of flame lashed against me ineffectively as the pup came closer.
It had two tails and looked like a tiny vulpix with a rustier color than most. It adorable eyes stared me down as it moved closer, however soon enough it was bouncing around the food with its tails slapping against me. After finishing that food I showed it a potion and it tried biting it like it was food. Pikachu slowly moved to my back and started speaking with it as small pikas came from it and the vulpix replying with small vuls, pix, and some yipping.
Eventually it shook its head at me and the potion so I pulled out some more food and left it in my hand. It slowly began eating and a few hours later I had sat up as Vulpix had curled up in my lap after eating its fill. With some time on my hands I began reading everything I had on Vulpix's and found that this little runt was female and very young. Had she not attacked me she would have likely died out here and disappeared.
Near dark I woke her and offered a pokeball and left pikachu to explain it to her while I made camp. After removing my armor for the night I sat down and lit my fire to heat up some cans of food for us. A bit into our dinner Vulpix rolled the pokeball to my feet and struggled with it before hitting the button with her paw. When the pokeball clicked and gave a small shine I released her and took her into my lap. I had bought high quality pokefood to spoil my Pokemon with sometimes and I slowly fed her some till she fell asleep again.
I climbed into bed with her on my chest and pikachu at my side as Forretress hovered above the tent, and Sandslash made a burrow between the tent and fire.
I woke up in the morning not wanting to get up. I had an adorable little Vulpix curled on my chest and a pikachu at my side, thankfully separated by a heavily insulated blanket. Getting back to my trek took some time but we were eventually back on track after I made a small cushioned bag so Vulpix could set on my chest and stay comfortable. She had two tails which indicated that she was a baby, just past newborn but not a toddler or child. My estimate for her level put her under level 8 as she would learn quick attack then.
The journey picked up as all but Vulpix got experience with combat. I could travel pretty fast with my power armor so it was midday by the time I could see Saffron City over the trees. Before entering the city I wanted to get pikachu to evolve into Raichu. We walked around for a bit outside the city and I got pikachu as much training as I could while keeping him in top shape with potions and berries.
It was nearly dusk when we were all blinded by the light of evolution. I had previously purchased a thunderstone but I had hoped to get pikachu to evolve without it, however with it being close to night I decided to cut it short as I found in the info I had that others had tried to get there pikachus to evolve without the stone and only one had succeeded after his pikachu had been hit by a massive lightning bolt in a horrible storm.
When my augmented vision adjusted I could see a Raichu where pikachu had been. He quickly hopped on my shoulder and wrapped his tail around my shoulders and perched like a king on his throne. The only one of us that didn't give him a deadpan stare was Sandslash who was to busy chewing on a rock.
I entered the city with only Vulpix out as all people were restricted to only one Pokemon out of ball unless it was a battle or emergency. This was the biggest city in the Kanto region and I could easily tell. I found a studio apartment and began setting up for my stay here. I had made quite a lot in Viridian and I was now spending a good chunk of it to get what I needed.
I kept my own amenities spartan, basic furniture and some clothes and a TV for us to use. The rest of the apartment was full of tech I would be using and stuff for my Pokemon. I got specific beds for Forretress and Sandslash and a weird generator thing that the pikachu line liked to nap on. I did get a bed for Vulpix but she seemed to be pretty clinging so I didn't think she'd use it much.
Computers lined the walls displaying a multitude of data as I scanned through them. My eyes continued to glance back at the main screen comparing my DNA and genetics to what my suits past data had on me with the same comparison off to the side from the people of this world. I had definitely changed, I now sat at a mix between my past self and the evolved humans here.
Entire organs had been erased by my evolution and others had been added or reinforced. My appendix was now a massive immune system organ that helped destroy foreign material, my wisdom teeth gone completely, a few different glands all tied to increasing chances of survival. Even my bones had restructured into tougher more resilient structures and the few fractures I had got covered with some kind of bone plating.
I was sure other things had changed but I couldn't tell as I couldn't observe it with my normal senses and didn't have the knowledge or experience to see what I needed to with tech. I had never been great with biology and genetics so I did what I knew and made sure the changes I had undergone were safe for me.
I went to bed that night going over everything I knew of genetics and the Pokemon evolution stuff. Sleep came quickly when comfortable and thinking boring thoughts.
