Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: 2B is the Best!

The laboratory is secured on all sides and monitored 24/7 by the Red Queen.

Professor Connors lives entirely at the company, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

Seeing Professor Connors, Coulson smiled, "Mr. Levi, have you identified the group that ambushed you?"

"Not yet," Levi replied, shaking his head.

"You know?" he asked Coulson.

"Devil Gang," Coulson laughed, prompting Gwen Stacy to react.

Levi noted it down, planning to address it later.

"Thanks," Levi acknowledged, knowing Coulson was trying to build rapport.

"Levi, we can start the experiment," Professor Connors interrupted eagerly.

"Let's proceed," Levi nodded.

Professor Connors was thrilled.

Thanks to Levi's investment, the experiment could begin.

The test subject was a disabled rabbit missing a leg.

With Red Queen's help, the 'Lizard Potion' had been perfected.

Science requires meticulous experimentation.

Professor Connors injected green liquid into the rabbit.

"The drug contains DNA from creatures like lizards, which promotes regeneration," Levi explained.

Research needs an audience, and this was invaluable to organizations like S.H.I.E.L.D. and the military.

After all, the U.S. has been the most active in recent global conflicts.

Coulson watched closely.

The potion's effect was astonishing.

In no time, the rabbit's missing limb began to regrow, emerging rapidly like a chick hatching.

It resembled a chicken claw at first but developed swiftly.

However...

"Something feels off," Coulson noted.

Levi, prepared, replied, "This is normal!"

The rabbit became agitated, repeatedly ramming the glass enclosure.

"Bang! Bang!"

The impacts were loud.

Professor Connors assured, "It's all explosion-proof glass. No worries."

Coulson nodded, relieved the glass held.

"Why such strength?"

Coulson wondered.

Without seeing the rabbit, he'd think it was a kangaroo.

"The potion enhances strength," Levi explained. "We aim to create a world without weakness."

"Exactly!" Professor Connors agreed.

Eventually, the rabbit calmed and began hopping around, eating grass.

"Success!" the Red Queen announced, recording data. "Next, human trials are recommended. Human trials may cause lizard gene mutations. Prepare accordingly."

Coulson was intrigued.

"It's a shame we can't witness human trials."

"Not impossible," Levi smiled. "Provide candidates, and you can observe."

Conducting human trials in America is challenging.

Mainly because Levi has a conscience.

Without one, deception would be easy.

Historically, some exploited free healthcare to conduct unethical experiments...

Capitalism's dark side can be unimaginable.

"I'll report back," Coulson said, recognizing the potion's value.

Some prefer prosthetics, others their original limbs.

After the experiment, Coulson left promptly.

---

"Director Fury, Director Hill," Coulson reported directly to headquarters.

Nick Fury and Maria Hill were discussing Levi.

Maria Hill, despite her connection with Levi, offered an objective analysis.

Personal details about Levi remained unshared.

This helped Nick Fury understand Levi better. He asked Coulson, "How does he compare to Tony Stark?"

"He's a hundred times better than that playboy," Maria Hill stated bluntly.

Tony Stark's arrogance was off-putting, but Levi was surprisingly pleasant.

Apart from public spats with Stark, Levi had few flaws.

Nick Fury wasn't worried about Maria Hill's feelings.

As Deputy Director, she wouldn't be swayed by emotions.

"Coulson, what's the update?"

They turned to him.

Coulson smiled, "We've agreed to collaborate and even witnessed their experiments."

He recounted the experiment.

Upon hearing Future Technology Company needed human trial subjects, Nick Fury said, "I'll handle it. Good work."

"No problem. If there's nothing else, I'll head out."

Coulson said.

"I'll join you," Maria Hill added.

Being in Nick Fury's office felt stressful.

---

"Gwen, any plans this afternoon?" Levi asked Gwen Stacy.

"Yes, someone from the Osborn Group is visiting."

Gwen nodded.

"Oh, alright."

Levi had planned some downtime.

He was tired and wanted to rest.

Maria Hill's energy was nearly overwhelming.

"I'll rest in the office," Levi said, entering to find 2B sitting perfectly poised.

She never tired.

"2B, I need a moment to rest," Levi said, lying on 2B's lap.

Her skin, smooth as a human's, was comforting.

2B dutifully massaged his head.

She calibrated her strength perfectly, consistent each time.

After a while, 2B spoke.

"Master."

"Hmm?"

"2B can also provide information about last night."

Levi perked up.

"Really?"

"Members of the YoRHa Force will sacrifice everything for humanity," 2B said seriously. "It's already programmed."

Levi was delighted: 2B is the best!
