A small system window floated in front of big dark wooden doors. There, half slouched over the gates, Lucian sat helpless, barely holding onto his consciousness.
Faint groans mixed with desperate gasps escaped his throat. Heaving for his life, his right hand tightly held onto his left arm, trembling. Blood stained both of his arms and collected around his body in a small puddle.
Having lost so much blood, his body had gotten pale. And yet, his gaze remained the same.
Unlike his battered body, Lucian's eyes sparkled with pride. Even if by just a close margin, he had dodged death—not once but twice. He had won both psychological and physical wars.
He had survived a deadly trial, and the proof of that was his wide grin. Staring at the system window, his eyes glimmered.
'I did it...' Lucian could not speak due to his body's condition, but his voice thundered the most within his mind.
'I didn't break my promise...'
Then suddenly, a sharp bright light pierced through his eyes. The light half-blinded him, but at the same time, it felt comfortable.
In that instance, a strange warmth budded within his chest and quickly spread throughout his entire body.
Within seconds, the pain that had been gnawing at him like a pack of hyenas disappeared as if it had never existed in the first place.
On the contrary, his body felt more comfortable and relaxed than ever. Confused, Lucian opened his eyes, wide and clear.
He tried to get up, but was shocked to realize that his strength was returning!
At the same time, he noticed a green light enveloping his entire body, shimmering with strange particles.
"Took you so long, system." He whispered softly.

A new system window materialized in front of his eyes, relieving him of all his worries.
'So it really was the full recovery, huh?' Lucian thought as his eyes wandered towards his left arm.
The bright light had enveloped his arm the most, as it helped him regenerate his lost limb. Out of thin air, a bone stretched out from his arm and split into many at the end.
Then, veins materialized all around the bones and connected everything in place. At last, muscles and flesh developed all around his arm, and fresh, new skin covered it all.
Within seconds, a completely new, yet familiar hand was constructed.
Lucian simply looked at it with a smile. He was amused, but not enough to have shown it over his face.
Just like that, his body had been completely healed. His fatigue, pain... everything was gone.
Lucian, feeling better than ever, slowly pushed himself off the ground and stood up.
He brushed the dust off his clothes and looked straight ahead.
Just then, a new system window popped up before his eyes.

All of a sudden, giant walls of system screens appeared before him. Countless system windows—each bearing the same word.
The continuous notification alerts alone had annoyed Lucian. But he didn't mind as much. Because it only represented how good his rewards will be.
Then, a new system window appeared as the previous ones faded away altogether.

Before one could know, Lucian's mouth was wide open. If it could, his jaw would've pierced through his chest and slammed onto the ground in shock.
"Th-This..." He stuttered, unable to hide his expressions.
'This is so cool!' he thought excitedly.
But it didn't end there. Just as he was excitedly jumping in his mind, a sharp sound pulled him back into reality.
It was yet another system alert. Lucian's eyes darted forward. He noticed another system window appearing before him.

Lucian's eyes lit up as he read through the screen.
'Transcendence!'
"Huhu..." Faint chuckles began to escape his lungs, his lips curling into a wide smile.
He was fairly surprised, but the reaction wasn't as strong as before. After all, he was half-expecting this to happen.
"Now this... is more like it." He muttered in a low voice, looking forward as a new screen appeared.
