Chapter 179 - Chapter 179: Voting to decide whether a person should die?

After Deadshot and Amanda separated, he rushed to Allen's residence, the scene of the incident.

By the time he arrived at the scene, the sky had already completely darkened.

Looking at the half-collapsed room in front of him, Deadshot frowned.

Stepping over the ruins into the courtyard, the first thing he saw was a member of the Falcon Squad lying on the ground, his life unknown.

Cautiously, he walked slowly towards the Falcon Squad member lying on the ground. Seeing the member lying on the ground, his upper and lower body separated, a truly gruesome Death, Deadshot's brows furrowed even tighter.

He pulled out his pistol, maintaining vigilance while crouching down to check the condition of the deceased member of the "Falcon Special Operations Unit."

After a quick check of the wound where the opponent's upper and lower body were separated, he endured the pungent smell of blood and stood up. "It seems we've encountered a very troublesome entity."

Deadshot said to Amanda on the other end of the communicator, "I've found a deceased member of the special operations squad. The cause of Death is..."

He paused for a moment, then said, "The cause of Death is severe blood loss due to the body being cut open by some kind of energy, or rather, a sharp weapon with immense temperature and heat."

"What about the other squad members?"

Amanda asked him from the other end of the communicator, "Deadshot, don't tell me you only found one team member at the scene."

"Of course not."

Deadshot, wearing his tactical goggles, scanned his surroundings and said, "I've roughly located the bodies of the other team members, but they are all buried beneath the collapsed residence."

"Are there no survivors?"

"As of now, it seems there aren't."

A grave expression flashed in Deadshot's eyes as he said, "It looks like a battle took place here. The aftermath of the battle destroyed the surrounding buildings and trees, and this destructive power definitely couldn't have been caused by an ordinary person."

"Is that so?"

A strange voice suddenly came from behind him. Deadshot, who had been on alert, immediately turned around and found a young man standing behind him.

"It seems that besides having good shooting skills, you also possess decent reconnaissance and deduction skills."

Eric looked at the appearing Deadshot and said leisurely.

Eric had learned about Deadshot in his previous life.

Deadshot, real name Floyd Lawton Jr., is a mercenary and professional assassin, hailed as the "deadliest marksman in the world" and "the most accurate shot on Earth." His mastery of firearms has reached a state of man-gun unity, allowing him to precisely hit targets by ricocheting bullets, even without looking. He is a core member of the supervillain organization Secret Six and the anti-hero team Suicide Squad.

Seeing Eric's sudden appearance, Deadshot immediately activated his tactical helmet.

The metallic tactical helmet, with a red light flickering around his right eye, instantly covered his face, and at the same time, a submachine gun was immediately swapped into his hand.

"Who are you?"

"Homelander."

Eric shrugged and said.

Although he had just been rebuked by the original Homelander, Eric had no intention of holding back and continued to use Homelander's name to bluff.

"Homelander?"

Deadshot shook his head, "I don't think that name suits a guy like you."

"Then who do you think deserves such a name?"

Eric took a step forward and casually reached out his hand. Deadshot's gun was then in his hand.

Eric, who casually crumpled the submachine gun to pieces, ignored Deadshot's stunned expression and asked, "I know you're Amanda's person. Now tell me, what is your purpose for being here?"

"What?"

Thud!

Eric took a step forward, and Deadshot felt as if he had been punched in the stomach.

It was a pain as if his soul was instantly ripped out.

"Ugh!"

Deadshot, spitting out a mouthful of blood, collapsed to the ground before he could even react.

His proud shooting skills were completely useless, and he was utterly defeated.

"You seem to have no understanding of your situation."

After knocking the opponent unconscious with one punch, Eric stood in front of Deadshot and said expressionlessly.

"I!"

Clutching his chest, he lay on the ground, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, and endured the pain to ask Eric, "Did you kill these soldiers too?"

"Yes, and no."

Eric looked at Deadshot, who was trying to pull out a pistol from behind him, and subconsciously ignored his small movements, saying, "They were already dead, and all I did was relieve them of some pain."

"You are the undeniable murderer!"

Deadshot, enduring immense pain, pulled out his pistol from behind, aimed at Eric, and violently pulled the trigger.

"And, you bastard, don't get cocky too soon!"

Bang!

A gunshot rang out, and a bullet instantly left the barrel, flying towards Eric.

Seeing that Eric made no move to dodge, Deadshot's heart filled with joy.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

He continuously pulled the trigger, accurately calculating all environmental and human factors, and had already used bullets to completely block Eric's possible escape routes.

He had complete confidence in his shooting talent.

As long as he had a gun in his hand, no matter how powerful the enemy, he was confident he could handle them.

But to his surprise, Eric did not dodge. He simply reached out his hand and easily blocked the bullets rushing towards him.

He released his hand, and the bullets clattered to the ground.

Ignoring Deadshot's still-open mouth, Eric shook his head, "The bullets you pride yourself on can no longer help you."

Thud!

Taking a step forward, Deadshot was in his hand.

Grabbing the opponent's neck, Eric lifted him into the air, "It seems you're the type of person who doesn't like to cooperate much."

A reddish glow flickered in Eric's eyes. The next second, Heat Vision shot out from his eyes, instantly piercing through the opponent's shoulder.

"Ugh!"

Deadshot screamed, then Eric extended a finger and gently pressed it against his chest.

"Ugh!"

Large beads of sweat immediately seeped from his head. Eric's gentle press had broken one of the opponent's ribs.

The excruciating pain of a broken rib, an unceasing torment, constantly eroded his nerves, making him wish he could immediately faint.

Eric threw Deadshot to the ground and asked coldly, "I won't ask the same question a second time. Tell me everything you know."

A hint of fear appeared in Deadshot's eyes. Enduring the pain, he had no choice but to reveal everything he knew.

"Amanda Waller's ambition is quite grand."

Eric snorted coldly and turned to leave.

"But this is Smallville, not Metropolis."

Watching Eric leave, Deadshot, clutching the broken part of his rib, let out a long sigh of relief, just about to check why his communicator wasn't working.

The next second, a corner of the building above him fell.

In Deadshot's astonished gaze, it directly crashed down.

Rumble!

It was building materials like stone bricks that fell, instantly burying Deadshot underneath.

Boom!

Meanwhile, Eric had already activated his Super Speed and flown into the air.

With instant acceleration, he transformed into a streak of light and quickly left the scene.

The next day, early morning.

Several uninvited guests arrived at Kent Farm.

They were not military personnel, nor were they Amanda's people.

Instead, they were Pat and Courtney from Blue Valley, whom he hadn't seen in a while.

Eric truly hadn't expected the sudden visit from these two.

"Although it's a bit abrupt, we came specifically for you."

Jonathan and Martha had been sent by Eric to Sir Winters's house, so now only Eric and Clark were at the farm.

Pat smiled at Eric and explained, "It's about the weather in Smallville."

"Weather?"

"It's like this."

Courtney explained to Eric, "Blue Valley used to have this kind of weather too. It was Devourer of Heaven who did it. He was born in Shadow Land."

Courtney, who had grown a few centimeters taller and whose chest had become a bit more prominent since they last met, said with some urgency, "Devourer of Heaven was originally imprisoned in a black diamond, but now the black diamond is damaged, and he has been released. If we let him be, his darkness will devour this world."

"He will also destroy people's minds."

Courtney lowered her head sadly, "Wildcat has already left our team. And Hourman, he was swayed by Devourer of Heaven and attacked his own uncle, resulting in his uncle being admitted to the ICU. Everyone has a weak spot, and once he exploits it, no one can remain clear-headed. Everything you see will be an illusion."

"No one can escape this kind of internal torment."

Courtney looked at Eric with some distress, "If anything can resist him, then I think it's only light. Eric, you now hold the Staff in your hand. Perhaps you are the only one who can fight him."

"Once he breaks free from the black diamond's confinement, he becomes formless. Unless he can be put back into a diamond, I can't think of any way to defeat him."

Sitting in the temporary living room of the barn, Star-Spangled Kid Pat nervously rubbed his hands, "The darkness in the town will continue, continuing until he releases the entire Shadow Land."

" "

Listening to their explanation, Eric was silent for a moment, then said, "I've already dealt with his true form."

"What?"

Pat and Courtney looked at Eric in surprise, "You've seen his true form?"

"That's right, and one thing is certain."

Eric stood up, a grave expression in his eyes, "My eyes can see his true appearance."

"My eyes can see through the disguises hidden behind the darkness. His illusions have no effect on me."

Eric turned to look at Pat, "I heard Starman once defeated him, is that right?"

"How did you know?"

A hint of surprise flashed in Pat's eyes.

"Pat?"

Courtney, sitting on the other side, looked at her stepfather with a surprised expression, "You never told me!"

"Yes, Courtney, I've kept some things from you, but believe me, that's a past we both don't want to bring up. Devourer of Heaven's first host was Bruce Gordon. He killed Midnight Doctor's daughter and threatened to kill all the Justice Society's families. 'Shadow' (a member of the Injustice Society) told us that if we wanted to seal Devourer of Heaven, we had to kill his host, Bruce Gordon, an innocent man."

"So you killed him? You're the Justice Society!"

Courtney asked in disbelief.

"We had no other choice. We voted on whether or not to kill Bruce Gordon, and the final vote was to kill him. I couldn't do anything, I voted against it!"

"Ah, huh?"

Courtney, who had always held the Justice Society as her life's creed, showed a look of absurdity on her face, "You actually voted! To decide whether an innocent person should die!"

"I had no choice. I tried my best to stop it, but..."

Pat lowered his head somewhat helplessly, "I'm just Starman's sidekick. I can't make any decisions."
