Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

The helicopter made it safely to the island. It descended slowly from the sky, the entire team onboard kept their eyes on the carrier. The green orb was still glowing but it wasn't blinking anymore nor did it give off signals of aggression.

Once the helicopter landed, the team packed their stuff and rushed out with terrified expressions on their faces; the incident in the middle of the ocean left them grief-stricken and shocked by the horror they had to witness. They were caught in the middle of the same mess they got themselves into because of their ignorance towards something unpredictable that could've taken them out if given the chance.

Troops gathered around the carrier as instructed and lifted it up from the ropes attached. Dozens of troops and personnel swarmed the team, asking them a plethora of questions that they couldn't give detailed answers to for the time being. The situation was escalating, and the decision to explore that island added fuel to the pre-existing fire within the Island of Rune.

"What happened back there? Reports are coming in and it's not looking good."

"Are we in danger? We heard an explosion back there!"

Everyone had their questions but none answered in satisfaction. Fear and worry engulfed their surroundings, accompanied by the silence that was about to dawn on them before somebody spoke up again. But it only amplified the gut-wrenching feeling that every single person at the base surrendered to.

The lady was holding onto the files in her arms tightly, as the crowd rushed towards her demanding more answers, she cradled the important information protectively so as to not lose them. It had a portion of the answers they were starving for.

"We're having an emergency meeting and just to inform everyone there's going to be a change of plan regarding this research. That orb -we can't leave it here, it's too dangerous." Clenching her fingers on the files, the lady walked off while everybody continued bombarding the team with questions about this abrupt decision.

So what were they supposed to do with the orb? The troops stared at the carrier skeptically, some of them backed away from it. "Staying on this island with that orb will leave the base open to any further intrusions within this location. Which means we need to send it back to headquarters as soon as possible." The lady spoke again before walking into the elevator and avoiding any form of eye contact with the people outside.

Meanwhile, the entire base on the island trampled into chaos with intense research on the computers and replaying the footage on the big screen. The very same orb they had in confinement was isolated, not a single person dared walk into the same room with it.

That reaction to the orb's presence wasn't limited to the base, Godzilla, Mothra, and Kong wanted nothing to do with it. The three kaiju swam away from the Island of Rune, large rocks continued falling into the dark and quiet parts of the ocean, crashing into cliffs during their descent.

"Monarch made a huge mistake." Kong rasped, the giant ape picked up a strand of seaweed coiled on his mechanical hand and dropped it into the water.

Godzilla glanced behind him and saw the two glowing spurs of light flickering until one of them vanished, the other following suite a few seconds after that.

"This is the first time Monarch has set foot on the Island of Rune." The giant dinosaur said, staring at the lifeless statues that remained, some destroyed and unrecognizable from the disaster that unfolded.

Kong raised an eyebrow and quietly approached Godzilla who seemed to have noticed the giant ape stepping towards him. He could sense this animosity that was waiting to lunge at either one of them.

He better not throw a tantrum over something we have no control over. There's no time for that, we don't even know what these orbs are trying to do! Kong I suggest you stay quiet, that roar, the usual form of intimidation you always do is going trigger someone or something lurking here. Narrowing his eyes, Godzilla watched Kong who was aware of this precautionary stance he was taking.

"And how do you know that?"

"Listen Kong, I know things haven't been easy for you in Hollow Earth. Humans can be easily fooled by their own greed which is why we should work together to prevent such accidents from happening."

Spinning his axe, Kong snorted. He averted his gaze to the seaweed dangling from his mechanical hand.

"Your words aren't going to change anything. They don't have a reverse effect." Picking up the seaweed, Kong opened his mouth and swallowed it.

Godzilla scratched the back of his head, he turned to Mothra who was displeased by this behavior. The fighting and non-stop arguing between these two ate a chunk of their time whenever they were caught in situations like this.

"Tried my best, if he wants to keep his head thick that's up to him. It's his loss, I'm only trying to help." The giant dinosaur shrugged.

Shaking her head, Mothra howled and hovered closer to Godzilla. "Kong's gone through a lot. You need to be sincere Godzilla. If you wanna help someone, you gotta to be willing to fix their way of responding to you."

Godzilla spun around in confusion. "What are you talking about Mothra? I just told you, I was trying to help. I don't want him to keep holding grudges over something that's already happened!"

"Lower your voice."

What? Mothra's response was almost unfathomable. Godzilla didn't understand why she was giving him this kind of stern treatment. He didn't do anything wrong but she acted as if he did. The giant dinosaur felt accused.

Flapping her wings in the air, the giant moth noticed Godzilla's unsettlement. She knew he wouldn't accept the truth she'd been longing to tell him.

"Do you hear yourself Godzilla? You're raising your voice at me over a piece of advice. One that's supposed to elevate your confidence in the matter." Mothra spoke.

"If you truly believe that what you're doing is the opposite of everything I just told you, then you wouldn't be this defensive."

Those words played in Godzilla's mind over and over again. As much as the giant dinosaur didn't want to admit it, he didn't know how he should help Kong get over his trauma. Godzilla hoped the giant ape would get over it someday, but those memories always came crashing back. It's almost as if, Kong may never get through it.

Likewise, Godzilla was in a similar position, at least for Kong, he had Godzilla and Mothra to calm him down, but Godzilla never had anyone to lift him up until he met his friends.

"My advice is here to fill your emotional capacity to the brim. You can't stay an empty shell forever." Mothra continued, the spores on her palm radiated an intricate gold.

Those vibrant wings of Mothra's told a story from the land to the sea. Godzilla looked down and took a deep breath. Maybe this advice was something he needed to hear after so long. Nobody ever told him.

Kong glanced at the two kaiju warily, his fur prickled. They almost got into an argument because of him. The giant ape dared not to meet their gaze.

A loud shrilling noise alerted the three kaiju. Godzilla's heart sank when he realized what it was.

Several aircraft were heading their way. But it seems they were particularly focused on the Island of Rune. Godzilla growled when they got closer.

"Why are they still coming here? It's too dangerous." Mothra spread her wings and howled at the incoming aircraft but they didn't get the signal, instead they sped up and began their patrol around the island.

Godzilla was about to stomp towards the visitors of the Island of Rune when suddenly, the entire area started shaking again, this time every rumble from the depths came with aftershocks straight from the Earth's core.

"An underwater Earthquake?!" Kong yelled, he backed away from the bubbles rising to the surface.

The kaiju could tell Monarch was witnessing this entire event with guilt and panic on their faces. What were they thinking? Very little is known about the orbs and the island they happened to inhabit. Godzilla looked up and saw three helicopters hovering away from the Island of Rune whilst communicating with each other about the next course of action.

Mothra stopped in the middle of the ocean and squinted her eyes at the cracks forming near the shore. The giant moth was about to inch closer to this formation when the cliff and boulders broke apart from each other resulting in not only another wave of tremors but a dark opening.

The moment Godzilla, Mothra, and Kong sensed the terror from this new entrance to the deeper parts of the ocean, a towering figure emerged from the narrow opening in the ocean floor.

This slender and tall creature which happened to be another kaiju shoved the collapsing debris down to the abyss and stepped onto the surface of the ocean floor that struggled to withstand its weight given its current state. The kaiju cackled and turned around to face the other three kaiju who were watching its emergence.

Godzilla froze, that cackle, it sounded eerily familiar. Only one kaiju on this planet was known for having cackles and snarls that came off as a siren.

And that was no other than Titanosaurus.

All three of them narrowed their eyes at the taller kaiju who stared at them with a cold gaze. The muddy orange, fins, and long snout brought back memories that were buried in the deepest corners of these islands. They were times that nobody wanted to bring up ever again, because nobody expected a kaiju to turn himself into a symbol of betrayal.

Let alone return without any remorse, because it seems Titanosaurus wasn't a kaiju they could reason with though that was off the list now. Not that they were hoping he'd change his ways, he was never the type to reflect on his own actions, but after what he might have gotten himself into on this island, he could at the very least… change.

Unfortunately, it seems he didn't, that vile look on his face meant that he still wanted to resume his infliction of fear onto others for as long as he was roaming the seas.
