(Aegor's POV)
[A Few Months Later]
"You did good." I said as I stood next to the bed, giving Selene a smile, "A daughter, hm?"
Selene was holding a baby in her arms, wrapped in white blankets, "Y-Yes..." She said, "She is beautiful."
"Mhm." I said as I leaned down and kissed her cheek, "She is."
I was there the entire time that Selene endured her labors, eventually watching as she gave birth to a white-haired girl. There was a strange feeling dwelling up inside, something I couldn't understand at that moment. Hearing the healthy cries of a babe, seeing the way she waddled her arms and legs as the midwives checked her.
And now, seeing her sleep in her mother's arms, it was surreal.
"Is His Grace coming to see her?" Selene asked
I moved some of her hair away from her face, "I believe so." I said, "With his grandson being born, he has been in a great mood. Surely, he will come and see our daughter."
She nodded slowly, "I understand." She said, "My Prince, what would be her name?"
I shrugged, "I don't know." I said, "I was hoping you'd think of it."
"I...mayhaps naming her after you?" She said with a smile, "Aegora?"
"Aegora?" I said with a chuckle, "I don't know about that. Hm...maybe Aelora...."
"Aelora?" She asked, "I guess, that has a better ring to it. Aelora Targaryen."
"Mhm." I said as I gently patted the girl's head, "My little Aelora. Such a special girl, born to the most special woman. Today is but an amazing day."
Selene smiled, "Yes....."
The doors opened and I saw as the King and Queen walked in, "Aegor! Selene!" Uncle said as he walked over, "I heard that the labors went smoothly."
I straightened up, "Your Grace." I said, "Yes, they did."
He walked on the other side, followed by Alicent, "Let me look at her." He said, "May I, Lady Selene?"
"Of course." Selene handed him the child, "Here, Your Grace."
He took Aelora in his arms and straightened up, Alicent's gaze set on her with a slight smile on her face.
"Ah, look at her." Uncle said with a smile, "Fair skin, white eyes. A perfect Targaryen girl. Don't you think so, Alicent?"
"She looks a lot like Jacaerys, truth be told." Alicent glanced at me, which I found to be strange
"Well, Jacaerys inherited his Mother and Paternal Grandmother's looks, the fairer skin. He does have Laenor's nose." Uncle said, "Besides, Aegor and Rhaenyra did look alike when they were both born, so mayhaps that is the case."
They were referring to the fact that Rhaenyra's son, who was born around two weeks ago, did share Laenor's skin color. Truth be told, Laenor was a shade or two away from having my skin color so I expected that to be the case. And Jacaerys looks more like Rhaenyra than him, if I am being honest. Not just that, I'd wager that Princess Rhaenys's traits jumped over to her grandson.
I felt what Alicent was alluding to, but I was careful.
"Hm." Alicent said, "Allow me to hold her."
Uncle gave her to the Queen, who took her in her arms, a smile on her face, "There you go." He said, "What is her name, Selene?"
"Aelora, Your Grace." Selene said
"Aelora." Alicent said, "A wonderful name for a wonderful girl. Looking at her up close, she resembles Helaena when she was born as well."
"That is what I am saying." Uncle said with a chuckle, "Us Targaryens resemble each other when we are but babes."
"There's a reason for that." I muttered
"Yes, yes, jests." Uncle caught that, "But this is a great day, Aegor. A great one."
Alicent nodded, "Congratulations, Selene." She said with a smile, "You must be overjoyed."
"Yes, Your Grace." Selene nodded
Alicent gave me a strange look, a mixture of a serious and an angry one. I couldn't exactly decipher it, but it was as if she was trying to tell me something.
"By the way, Aegor." Uncle said, "House Royce is visiting the Red Keep. Lady Rhea intends to speak to me about a situation that happened."
I nodded, "I heard about that." I said, "Her husband was murdered and she seeks justice."
"That is right." Uncle said, "But we shouldn't speak on that right now. I expect you to join Daemon and I on the Small Council Room later."
"Speaking of Daemon." Alicent said, "I wish to speak to you about him, Nephew. If you don't mind. Right now."
"Ah, you have to do that by yourself." Uncle said with a nervous chuckle, "I need to go and check on Otto and his progress on a certain issue."
"Mhm." Alicent said
"I leave you to it." Uncle said before walking away and leaving the room
I looked at the Queen, "Did you want to do it here....or....?" I asked, "Mayhaps we should leave my wife and daughter, so they can rest."
"Of course." Alicent gave Aelora back to Selene, who was looking at me with a frown
"Is something wrong?" Selene asked me
"No, of course not." I said, "Don't worry."
"It is about Prince Daemon, Lady Selene." Alicent said, "I merely want to ask him some questions. Aegor, I expect you to come to my chambers after this. Make haste, I have things to do and I do not want to spend much time on this."
She left the room, leaving me alone with my wife.
"Aegor." Selene said, "Should I be worried?"
"Not really." I looked at her, "I am curious to hear what she has to say. I haven't spoken to Daemon in a few weeks, so I really don't know what she would want to talk about."
"I see....." She said, "Very well, make it quick, Husband. I wish to have you embrace me as I rest."
I leaned down and kissed her on the lips briefly, "Of course, my goddess." I said as I patted her cheek, "As you desire, my love."
"I'll make it quick."
