Chapter 19 - Dismissal

But the butler's words made Fu Lengyu's already soft heart turn cold. He gave a cold glance and said, "Mind your own business!"

Fu Lengyu went upstairs, not to his own bedroom, but to a room at the end of the villa corridor. As soon as he opened the door, he saw a photo hanging on the wall. In the photo, a girl was holding Fu Lengyu with both hands and smiling happily. If An Ran were here, she would see that the girl in the photo looked almost exactly like her.

He looked out the window and saw An Ran's slender figure. After a long silence, he turned to the girl in the photo on the wall and said, "She deserves it all. If you have a spirit in heaven, Chen Yu, you should be happy!"

So cold! An Ran felt the cold air constantly drilling into her bones, making her whole body cold and her limbs numb. The raindrops falling on her were so cold that she couldn't help but wonder if she would freeze to death in the yard at night. The maids who held a grudge against her were standing under the corridor, smiling at her. Under the butler's orders, the maids didn't dare to say much, but their mocking eyes were still obvious.

Let them be... Her body was constantly sending signals of coldness and discomfort, and her brain was getting more and more sluggish. An Ran felt cold and hot alternately, feeling so uncomfortable that she wished she could just knock herself out.

In the middle of the night, the rain that had stopped earlier showed signs of returning.

An Ran looked up at the sky and couldn't help but sigh, "Even you, God, want to torment me?" She noticed a light coming from the window of the villa on the left, and even in the darkness, she could see the silhouette of a person. It was probably Fu Lengyu. She wondered if he had finally let go of his anger after seeing her suffer so much. An Ran hoped that once he did, he would agree to let her visit her mother in Switzerland, as long as she could confirm that her mother was okay. She thought about how to approach Fu Lengyu to maximize his agreement.

Suddenly, her body spun and she fell to the ground. Before she lost consciousness, she thought to herself that she was finally free. Fu Lengyu saw An Ran fall and instinctively thought it was a trick, but when he saw her face, he ordered the butler to check on her. By the time the butler arrived, An Ran had been unconscious for almost ten minutes. She was cold and pale, and if it weren't for her faint breathing, the butler would have thought she was dead.

"Madam...Madam..." The butler called out to her, but there was no response. He quickly called for an ambulance and had a few maids carry An Ran back to the villa to change her wet and muddy clothes. Fu Lengyu came down from the second floor and asked the maid who had just finished, "How is she?"

"She fainted with a fever and we called for an ambulance," the maid replied.

Fu Lengyu saw An Ran lying on the sofa, with an abnormal blush on her pale face. She was also unconsciously calling out "mom" while furrowing her brows.

Fu Lengyu reached out and touched her forehead, but An Ran suddenly grabbed his hand tightly while still in her nightmare.

"Mom...it's okay, you will be fine..."

He frowned in disgust and tried to shake off An Ran's hand, but she seemed to have an extraordinary strength that he couldn't break free from. The ambulance arrived and he had to go to the hospital with her. After a night of tossing and turning, An Ran's fever finally subsided.

Fu Lengyu originally intended to leave after sending her to the hospital, but for some reason, he stayed. The ward was very quiet, so quiet that he could even hear An Ran's heartbeat. Fu Lengyu sat by the bed, his eyes fixed on An Ran.

Her face, her features, really resembled Lin Ran Yu. Even the way she looked when she was about to cry was so similar.

"Ran Yu..."

Fu Lengyu seemed to be unable to distinguish reality, and couldn't help but reach out and touch her face. The tender skin under his fingertips gave him an incredibly real feeling. An Ran slightly opened her eyes, and what she saw was Fu Lengyu's face...

But now, the cold demon's face was full of tenderness, and his rough fingertips felt a bit itchy on her face. An Ran couldn't help but breathe lightly. She had never seen Fu Lengyu like this before. "Ran Yu, it would be so good if you were still here..."

The sigh was as light as air, but it made An Ran's breath catch. She looked at Fu Lengyu and weakly smiled, "Lengyu, can you let me visit my mother once?"

Fu Lengyu quickly regained his composure and saw An Ran's weak expression. He didn't mock her, but instead remained eerily quiet, not saying a word. An Ran lowered her eyes, and her thick, curly eyelashes cast a shadow over her eyes, hiding her panic.

She was deliberately using a ploy, and she knew that her face probably resembled the woman that Fu Lengyu truly loved...

She hoped that Fu Lengyu would agree to her request, for the sake of her face.

However, the room was filled with oppressive silence, and as time passed, An Ran no longer had any hope for her request.

"Okay..."

Just as she had given up, An Ran suddenly heard Fu Lengyu agree to her request! She widened her eyes, unable to believe it. "You... agreed?"

Her trembling voice was filled with humility and surprise, which was truly heart-wrenching. Fu Lengyu looked at her in this state, and for some reason, he felt a moment of heartache. However, this moment of heartache was quickly ignored by him.

He coldly said, "Yes, I agree. I happen to be going to Switzerland to meet a client the day after tomorrow. You can come with me."
