Chapter 69 - Death is a relief.

"Do you have anything else to talk to me about?" An Ran asked, lowering her head as she entered the CEO's office.

"What about the thing I asked for?" he replied.

"Here it is." An Ran handed him the file.

"It's as ugly as you are."

"Are you talking about the handwriting?" An Ran asked, feeling offended. Her wrist hurt from writing, and she had done her best.

Even so, she couldn't remain calm after hearing his words. "Am I ugly? I thought you liked it. Lin Ranyu looks just like me."

Crack!

As soon as she finished speaking, papers flew everywhere in front of her, and she felt a sharp pain in her chin.

"You're not worthy of mentioning her name!" he shouted.

The pain in her wrist and chin made An Ran cry. The handsome face in front of her seemed like a terrifying devil.

"What did I do wrong? That day..." An Ran grabbed Fu Lengyu's arm, trying to free her chin.

But his arm was like a clamp, and she couldn't move it at all.

"Shut up!" Fu Lengyu's other hand suddenly grabbed AnRan's right wrist.

"Ah..." An Ran screamed in pain. "Let go, don't, my hand, my hand..."

Fu Lengyu's gaze fell on her wrist, and he tightened his grip. "Does it hurt?"

Without waiting for An Ran's answer, he continued, "Your pain is nothing compared to what Ranyu went through. Have you ever thought about how much pain she was in?"

An Ran was in so much pain that she was almost convulsing. Her trapped jaw had lost all feeling, and she was making snoring sounds from her throat. She couldn't even scream out.

Seeing An Ran's dying eyes, Fu Lengyu suddenly released his grip. An Ran lost her support and fell to the ground, her wrist and jaw burning with pain. "Get out," Fu Lengyu said, with a look of disgust. Feeling his touch, An Ran numbly left the office.

Fortunately, there was no one around now, otherwise everyone would see how pitiful she was. An Ran stumbled out of the company, went downstairs, and saw that the midnight street was still brightly lit. Tears streamed down her face.

She really wished time would stop at this moment, and sometimes even felt that death would be a relief. But she couldn't die. Her mother was still waiting for her to save her life in the hospital, An Group was still in the hands of others, and the ambitious relatives of the An family had not been dealt with.

How could she be willing to die... She sniffed hard and raised her hand to hail a taxi. At the hospital, the surgeon carefully examined the X-ray that An Ran had handed over."Your wrist is so serious, why did you come so late?"

"I... didn't have time at work."

"Is that an excuse? Besides, with your wrist like this, you can't do anything. How did you work?" he pointed to a shadow on the film.

"There's a bone dislocation here. I'll try to fix it for you later. If it can be fixed, that's great. If not, you'll need surgery."

After hearing the doctor's serious diagnosis, An Ran became a bit scared. "Doctor, I still need to write and draw with my hand in the future, I can't afford to lose it!" she exclaimed.

"Hmph, you should have thought about that earlier," the doctor replied. Suddenly, he forcefully twisted An Ran's wrist at a strange angle.

"Ah...!" An Ran cried out in pain.

"Okay, try moving it now and see if it's better than before," the doctor said.

An Ran moved her hand and indeed it felt much better than before. She breathed a sigh of relief and thanked the doctor sincerely.

The doctor waved his hand and called in the next patient. As An Ran was leaving the hospital, she saw a little child crying in her mother's arms.

"Mommy, I don't want to get a shot, it hurts!" the child wailed.

"Be good, after you get the shot, you'll feel better and we can go play wherever you want. Okay?" the mothe rcomforted.

"No, I don't want to! I want candy!" the child protested.

"Alright, after you get the shot, mommy will buy you a lot of candy to share with your friends. How about that?" the mother suggested.

"Okay," the child agreed.

As the mother and daughter walked away, An Ran listened to their conversation and tears welled up in her eyes. She saw herself as a little girl, hiding in her mother's arms and refusing to get a shot. Her mother also comforted her with gentle words and promises of treats.

An Ran used to be a little princess in her mother's arms, unable to tolerate even the slightest pain.Nowadays, even bone displacement can be endured.

"Mom--

Mom--

I miss you so much, I really want to hide in your arms and cry, I want you to comfort me, I want--

An Ran walked along the edge of the city in a state of loss. She didn't know how long she had been walking until she stopped, standing next to the central fountain of the city.

Every time she and her mother passed by here while shopping, they would sit here for a while, chatting about her little worries and her mother's work, feeling happy.

But now, everything has changed.

"It's really you!"

Suddenly, a familiar voice came from behind. An Ran turned around and saw Lu Ye Bai looking at her with surprise.

"What are you doing here?"

"I finished work and passed by here."

His words made An Ran think of Fu Lengyu, who was still in the office. "You CEOs really work hard."

"You CEOs?" Lu Ye Bai caught this word and thought it referred to Fu Lengyu.

"Would you like to sit for a while?" He pointed to a nearbyresting chair.

An Ran nodded.

"Is your hand better now?"

"I just went to see a doctor and took some medicine. It's nothing serious now."

"That's good. When you're sick, you should go to the hospital. Doctors are better than us who don't know anything."

An Ran smiled bitterly. "But some illnesses can't be cured by anyone."

Looking at An Ran like this, Lu Ye Bai felt pity from the bottom of his heart. "Why haven't you gone home yet? Did he...bully you again?"

An Ran took a deep breath and exhaled, pointing to her own face. "Do I really look so much like her?"

The "her" she referred to was naturally Lin Ran Yu.

At first, Lu Ye Bai was stunned, but then he slowly nodded. "Yes, too much alike. If you don't look closely, you and her are almost like the same person."

"No wonder he got angry as soon as he saw me."

This kind of desolate An Ran made Lu Ye Bai feel sorry forher. "Don't blame him either. His feelings for Lin Ran Yu... are really deep."

"A man as ruthless as him, it's hard to believe he could really fall in love with someone."

"You don't know the story between them. Do you want to hear it?"

An Ran's curiosity was piqued by Lu Ye Bai, and she immediately nodded. "I want to hear it."

She was really curious about what kind of person Lin Ran Yu was, that even in death, she could torment her to such an extent.
