Chapter 93: The Trio's Accidental Clash
The fleeing Team Rocket members looked terrified.
Some spotted Archer and scrambled toward him.
"Director Archer! There's a problem!"
*Fools, don't come near!*
Archer glared sharply at them.
At that moment, the terrified members didn't notice Lance standing behind Archer.
Luckily, an even louder rumble drowned out their voices.
*Rumble!*
The warehouse door burst open, and a Dragonite flew out uncontrollably.
Lance and Archer's eyes darkened as they focused on the person riding the Dragonite.
It was the Team Rocket officer in charge of the game corner.
The officer looked utterly desperate. Seeing Archer, he lunged toward him like a drowning man clutching a lifeline.
His Dragonite rammed against the warehouse door with all its strength.
"You bastard!" Before the officer could speak, Archer kicked toward him.
*Clang~* Lance lifted his leg, blocking Archer's kick.
"What, afraid he'll spill something?"
The officer, dazed, muttered to himself:
"Director Archer, our—"
The warehouse door was finally torn apart, and the Dragonite at the top was knocked away, kicking up a cloud of dust.
When the dust cleared, the Dragonite was out of commission.
In its place, a massive mechanical Dragonite advanced, drawing everyone's attention.
This mechanical Dragonite was far larger than normal, rivaling the one Natsume had.
"*Team Rocket Special Operations Squad* at work, all civilians stay back, meow!"
Meowth's voice boomed from the mechanical Dragonite's speaker, echoing throughout the underground space.
On its shoulders stood a man and a woman.
"Hmph, you're the scoundrel wanted by Boss Giovanni. We're here to sort things out!" Jessie's domineering voice rang out.
Beside her, James flicked a rose toward the officer, as if delivering a death notice.
"Director Archer, save me! These three lunatics barged in claiming to be Boss Giovanni's Special Operations Unit!"
"They want to take me out!"
The officer realized he had no idea what he had done wrong.
*These three must be impostors!*
Lance raised an eyebrow and removed his hand from Archer's shoulder.
So Giovanni really sent someone to sort things out?
"Get lost!" Archer trembled and kicked the officer aside.
"Eh? That seems to be Director Archer, meow." Meowth's voice rang out.
"What?" Jessie and James looked over in unison.
"You've done well!" Archer openly praised the trio.
"Hahaha, Director Archer acknowledges us, meow!"
"What else do you have to say, you disgrace tarnishing Team Rocket's reputation, meow!"
Meowth couldn't help but think the officer below looked exactly like the Team Rocket member who had gotten reckless in Saffron City.
*Boom!*
A violent rumble erupted behind them. Natsume had already slipped outside the warehouse door.
Indeed, the well-funded trio were incredibly powerful.
Glancing back at the mechanical Dragonite, Natsume was amazed at how the trio had built such a massive machine in just a few days.
"Rotom, lights."
Natsume commanded, and the area lit up.
Outside the warehouse doors was a huge experimental space, though many circuits had been destroyed by the trio's commotion.
Natsume surveyed everything, using full telekinesis to search for possible clues.
Soon, he discovered a shattered large screen.
On the remaining half of the screen, the faint image of a pink Pokémon could be seen.
"Mew."
Natsume murmured, his gaze shifting from the Mew image to the control panel, and he began manipulating it.
There were many things here, and Natsume first located the experimental logs.
After a quick glance, he understood the situation.
This place was indeed connected to Mewtwo's development.
From the data, Mewtwo was nearly complete.
At least the body had been successfully constructed.
What remained was a stable mental state.
Because Mewtwo carried the full genome of Mew, when it was first imbued with consciousness, countless wills emerged, conflicted, and ultimately failed.
Team Rocket had no choice but to integrate human genes, hoping that human consciousness would dominate Mewtwo's body.
However, Mewtwo seemed to strongly dislike adult willpower.
So they targeted children.
To help Mewtwo more readily accept the human consciousness of these children, Team Rocket used hypnotic devices to make the children believe they were Pokémon.
This also helped consolidate the chaotic wills from Mew's genes.
Natsume quickly downloaded the experimental data, then pulled a keyboard from the system space, connected it to a computer, and began *reviewing* the files.
After typing the last character, a faint sound came from behind.
Natsume vanished in a flash.
A Meowth entered, carrying a USB drive, wandering in on its own.
"201 is this one, meow. Director Archer said we just need to download the contents, meow."
...
The next day, at the HopHopHop Town Pokémon Center, the group was having breakfast.
"Hahaha, that's right, this is Misty!"
Ash sat at the table, holding the Pokédex and showing a video to everyone in turn.
In the video, Misty lay in a puddle, staring blankly, flailing around.
"Magikarp—Magikarp—" Misty's dazed voice played in sync, and Ash laughed uncontrollably.
Misty clenched her fists, her face turning red.
"Hahaha, look, she thinks she's a Magikarp—ah!"
Misty used **Punch** on Ash!
"I misspoke, she's more like a Gyarados." Ash rubbed the swelling on his head, feeling wronged.
"What did you say!" Misty roared, spraying Ash's face with saliva.
*Quack!*
Nearby, a duck quacked.
"Hm?" Misty turned and saw a yellow Psyduck.
"Psyduck?" everyone looked.
"Oh, this seems to be the stray Psyduck Ms. Joy mentioned. It often sneaks food at the Pokémon Center," Brock recalled and explained.
The Psyduck tilted its head at Misty, then fixed its gaze on the *Magikarp* in Ash's Pokédex.
"What are you doing?" Misty stared at Psyduck in surprise.
It ignored her, its blank eyes shifting between Misty and the video of the Magikarp.
*Quack—tap!* Psyduck nudged a Pokéball at Misty's waist with its beak.
With a flash of red light, she was captured.
Misty: "???"
"Hahaha, it must think Misty is as clueless as it is!"
*Bang!*
Ash fell silent.
"Uh… Psyduck approves of Misty, huh."
Exactly, Brock smiled faintly.
He was holding a Vulpix in his arms.
"By the way, Brock, did the daycare owner give you that Vulpix?" Ash asked, rubbing his head.
"Yes, and the owner must be a pretty lady, right?" Misty had returned to normal, teasing.
"Uh, well, um…"
Seeing Brock suddenly blush, everyone else stopped asking questions.
"Natsume, where did you go yesterday?" Ash looked back at Natsume.
"Went to be a keyboard warrior." Natsume said, stuffing a dumpling into his mouth.
"Keyboard warrior?" everyone asked in confusion.
...
**Team Rocket Headquarters**
Archer stood respectfully before Giovanni.
"In short, by a stroke of luck, Meowth, Jessie, and James accomplished a great feat!"
Archer recounted the thrilling events of last night to Giovanni.
"What about the data?" Giovanni asked.
"The data… seems to be encrypted, but it should be coming through soon."
Archer said, clapping his hands, and someone brought up a laptop.
Lines of text began to appear on the screen.
"Was the data left there all destroyed?"
"After Meowth downloaded it, a virus was implanted. It's all handled."
Archer reported respectfully.
"Meowth?" Giovanni paused, then didn't ask further. He took the laptop and began reviewing it.
At the last page, Giovanni froze. He saw a message from a certain keyboard warrior:
**Who came up with this idiotic plan, meow?**
**If it were me, Meowth, I'd take these devices and open a children's Pokémon experience center in every major city.**
**Just promote that with this device, kids could experience life as any Pokémon—it would be a huge hit, meow!**
**This way, you'd get the necessary data and make a big profit, and most importantly— it's legal, meow!**
**So who came up with the time-wasting, ridiculous plan of kidnapping kids, meow?**
Giovanni, dumbfounded: "..."
"My subordinates request promotions and raises for Jessie, James, and Meowth!"
Indeed, Archer bowed slightly.
"Ahem, Meowth can be excused." Giovanni said.
"Understood." Archer nodded and passed the orders down.
"Wait." Giovanni called Archer again.
"Yes, Boss?"
"Reward Meowth generously." Giovanni amended.
"Uh, yes, Boss." Archer was puzzled by the sudden change but asked no further questions.
