Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Luminosity Attacked by The Cult Part 5

The military headquarters within Luminosity, Military Quadrant:

Commander Balin was currently getting constant reports from the staff in the command centre he was situated within, along with the same plain-looking demon. Their voices were bouncing off the walls as they relayed information from the troops on the ground, through magi-tech communication devices.

One woman, a senior mage, wearing the uniform of the Lightborn Logistics Corps, a white blazer, black undershirt, white slacks, and polished smart shoes. Her hair was tied up into a bun, and her eyes showed focus, as she approached Commander Balin, saluting "Sir, these are the current reports." She says as she hands over a bunch of documents before continuing "It seems that the battalion has dealt with most of the attackers, the ones at the villages, and those that were trying to breach our walls. They are now just patrolling the perimeter, on the look out. Moreover, It seems the commanders of the companies have engaged with the last remnants of the attackers, their leaders. All Emperor Mages it seems."

She paused to let Commander Balin take all that in, before going on "Also, it seems these attackers all used some unidentified power, it corrupts if it touches, making it difficult for mages to heal, even with the magi-tech armour, and also empowers mages, it seems depending on their natural talent, to reach beyond their power limits."

Commander Balin simply nodded, while looking at the documents, before saying "Good work, dismissed." She saluted then got back to her duties.

Commander Balin turned to the plain-looking demon, and spoke "So, hand, what do you think of this information? About the so called corruptive power?"

The man, one of the hands of the shadows spoke, "We are not too sure, not much information is available, it seems they have only started to move and expose themselves recently. We have not picked up on any one this in our years of gathering information. Truly bizarre, this organisation obviously has powerful backers."

The Commander simply turned back to the documents, murmuring to himself, "Well, whatever it is, it seems we have dealt with the crisis for now. Those commanders are all the best, no doubt they will deal with those leaders. Even if they are a bunch of misfits, they are still damn good at what they do."

....

Meanwhile, back at the battlefield:

As Aurelius turned up on his hulking ice golem, the other mages, especially the cultists could feel the power radiating off of him, even though they were supposedly the same level.

That is simply because, for one, Aurelius got to where he is in cultivation through his own talent, effort and not solely relying on resources. He has a green magic core, one below, white. And the ice element. If it wasn't for Kyros being in his generation, he would have been unstoppable.

The cultists couldn't focus on him for long though, because the ice golems that he sent had already started to take the pressure off the commanders and were attacking physically, using their large sizes, while, some special golems even used long range spells, to push the cultists back; ice weapons were thrown, icy storms and winds were conjured and used to control the battlefield.

The others, the commanders of the Lightborn House, at this time, were not as intimidated by his presence like the cultists. It was more the fact that the human emperor was here and giving his help.

They recognised him for multiple reasons. One, they are high enough up the ladder to have seen him in public at events, while also, it is pretty hard not to recognise him, he was a public figure for decades. Especially when there is no cloak obscuring his figure, and he arrives on a massive ice golem, his signature power.

Also, they have heard through the grapevine, how their liege and the human emperor, are friends and have heard stories of Aurelius visiting Luminosity over the years.

Putting all this together, they nodded at him, with a serious expression. Aurelius said as a response "Let's deal with these fools, I have an important meeting to get to."

Now with the help of Aurelius and his ice golems, the tides had turned and the remaining cultists leaders of this assault were overrun by, Aurelius, and the overwhelming might of the commanders, who were driven by the lust for revenge of their comrade. Asura and Serena supported from the back launching spells, shielding and giving call-outs to Connak and Ericka, who were like demons who had crawled out of Hell, slashing, punching, kicking, spinning, they were a force of nature.

While Aurelius used his mastery of the ice element and his overwhelming amount of golems, to eventually make the cultists fall, but not before one of them - just as Ericka was about to smash her large gauntlet into his head, to make it pop like a balloon - in their last breath, smiled wickedly, before pressing a device under his mage robes.

Currently, within the palace:

Aurora POV:

I was rushed off to the safe room within the palace, once I arrived, I realised it was not a safe room, but more a vault, where all of fathers wealth is held. I guess this would be the most secure place.

While I was thinking this, Alexia spoke, "This is the safest place for you, Your Highness, the vault is made out of an alloy material, that is very difficult to get through with magic or other means, along with the point of access to this area being one way in and out, makes it easier for your protection unit to, well, protect you."

I nodded at her explanation, I feel like she is just talking to try and get my mind off what is going on. I may be mature, but to these people, I am just a child. Well, makes sense I guess, I would love to go help in the defence, but what can I do at this moment? Well, nothing.

Suddenly, I remember Angela, my Head Maid and said "Where is Angela, is she okay?"

To which, Alphonso replied "She is with the other servants, most likely, Your Highness, it is commendable that you are worried for your maid, but we must move quickly and prioritise your safety."

Alexia ushered me forward and into the vault as she said, "Exactly, His Excellency would be beyond angry if we allowed you to be hurt, servants can be replaced, you can not."
