The explanation left the girls wide-eyed with amazement. Lillie and Serena were particularly intrigued by the tales of different cultures.
Just as Carl was about to continue his storytelling, the Cosmog beside Lillie suddenly floated upward. In a flash of blue light, they were all transported to an unfamiliar mountaintop.
In the distance stood an ancient castle, abruptly shattered by a deafening explosion. Carl jumped to his feet, shouting incredulously, "Mewtwo?!"
The castle was mostly in ruins, but what caught everyone's attention was the blue orb hovering above. Within it, the faint outline of mechanical armor was emitting powerful energy waves.
Carl stared at the creature before him, blurting out, "Mewtwo?"
What? Mewtwo? Serena's eyes widened in surprise.
Is Mewtwo from the game actually real? Another girl asked in disbelief.
But why does it look like that? Someone else questioned.
By now, almost everyone knew the name Mewtwo, thanks to the wildly popular Pokémon game. Some players, after much effort, had discovered this special creature in a hidden cave. Although not many reached this point in the game, Mewtwo's cool design and mysterious backstory sparked heated discussions online.
People praised the game's designers for their creativity, designing a new creature based on another and weaving it into a legendary story. But no one took it seriously—after all, the idea of humans creating creatures sounded too sci-fi, not to mention a man-made beast that could rival legendary ones.
But here it was, right before their eyes.
A loud boom suddenly echoed, and the blue orb burst apart, scattering fragments of mechanical armor. As the dust settled, a towering creature appeared before them: it had a silver-white body, purple eyes and tail, with fingers made of three spheres, looking like a cross between a human and a feline. The sudden appearance of this creature left Serena and the others stunned.
That's… Mewtwo? Serena's eyes widened in disbelief as she gazed at the figure in the sky. This creature matched the game's depiction exactly, down to the iconic neural cords.
Serena, Sabrina, and Caitlin all turned to Carl, eyes full of questions. As the game's designer, he should know the origins of this creature. But Carl was equally shocked, focused intently on the scene before him.
Could this be a scene where Mewtwo escapes? Carl quickly recalled various settings related to Mewtwo. In this fused world, many things differed from the original. Lillie had left early with Cosmog, and Serena's age had changed—everything was unpredictable.
He remembered a scene from the animated series: Team Rocket's trio, after failing a mission, accidentally witnessed Mewtwo escaping a base. But Ash had just started his journey, and Mewtwo should still be under Giovanni's control at this point.
The timeline doesn't match… Carl frowned, "If Mewtwo gains freedom now, will the later events on New Island still occur?"
This unexpected turn of events forced him to think seriously. Usually going with the flow, his mind was now racing, trying to understand the connections. But the current situation was beyond his expectations, and he couldn't find a definite answer.
Carl was completely unaware that everything before him originated from the game he designed. Whether it was Giovanni's early withdrawal or Mewtwo's sudden awakening, it was all a chain reaction sparked by the game's settings.
As Carl was lost in thought, Mewtwo's actions didn't cease. It gazed down at the crumbling castle, seemingly unsatisfied with the destruction, and slowly raised its left hand.
In an instant, a dazzling blue energy erupted, covering miles of the surrounding area. This energy quickly formed a violent psychic storm, turning everything it touched into ruins.
A mere psychic move in Mewtwo's hands became a world-ending disaster.
This is unreal! Serena and the others were dumbfounded. As psychics themselves, Sabrina and Caitlin immediately recognized this far surpassed the limits of a champion-level Pokémon. Serena, with her keen trainer's eye, saw that this required at least semi-legendary strength. But Mewtwo seemed so at ease, clearly having reached the level of a legendary beast.
Could it be that someone really succeeded in creating a legendary creature?
Amidst the continuous explosions, the majestic castle crumbled in an instant, and the surrounding forest suffered severe damage. Among the clouds of dust, Mewtwo watched coldly.
It suddenly raised its hand again, and from the dust flew dozens of Pokémon wrapped in psychic energy, including various final evolved forms and flying-type Pokémon. After gathering nearly a hundred Pokémon, Mewtwo became a streak of light shooting into the sky, followed by a beam of light formed by the Pokémon, resembling a beautiful meteor shower.
Oh my… Lillie and Serena watched intently. Carl pulled out a drone and his Rotom Dex, "Rotom, control the drone to head to the ruins over there and stream the footage back."
Got it, Rotom! The Rotom Dex immediately began executing the task.
The aerial footage displayed live on the screen, as the drone flew towards the ruins. Serena and her companions gathered around, eager to discover what Mewtwo had just destroyed.
Suddenly, a massive tornado swirled around the ruins' perimeter, with a glimpse of a large Pidgeot controlling it all. As the dust cleared, the drone captured the scene on the ruins.
A middle-aged man in a suit stood there, his expression dark and foreboding.
Giovanni?! Serena exclaimed. She never expected to see Giovanni, who was wanted by the Westvale League, here. What shocked her more was how Giovanni, who should be in Westvale, suddenly appeared miles away, and the conflict between Carl's identical Pokémon and Mewtwo. Could the legends about Mewtwo really be true?
In the footage, Giovanni pulled out a communicator and began giving orders: "Send a helicopter immediately, everyone convene at the Vermillion City base." Just as he was about to hang up, a call request from Jessie and James popped up on the screen.
Despite wanting to hang up immediately, Giovanni wiped his face and answered the video call. "Boss!" Jessie, James, and Meowth appeared excited on the screen. "We found a super rare Pikachu!" Meowth couldn't wait to report, completely forgetting their pre-planned script, leaving James and Jessie exasperated.
The Team Rocket duo eagerly vied for credit, endlessly describing the Pikachu's uniqueness. Giovanni's forehead veins bulged as he suppressed his anger, cutting them off, "Cut the nonsense, bring it here now." With that, he hung up.
Lillie and Serena watched, captivated. Carl, meanwhile, remained focused, trying to piece together the unfolding mystery.
