Chapter 9 - 9

Alex Johnson was speechless after the three soul-searching questions.

It wasn't that her topic completely crushed him.

It was... please, you're not that old, who did you learn that old-fashioned tone from?

"Hmph, if you don't believe me, when I was your age, I did so many great things, soaring through the sky, diving into the earth, sweeping across the entire city..."

Mindy looked at Alex's speechless face and immediately gestured with her hands and feet.

Not to mention, her head movements did seem to have some fighting skills, enough to bluff people.

"This cup of lemon tea is on me. Remember to finish it and go home quickly."

Mindy didn't pay much attention to the indifferent young man. She turned and left gracefully, her pair of golden pigtails swaying, looking somewhat cute on her petite and delicate figure.

For a moment, Alex thought of his sister... Half an hour passed.

Alex, having satisfied his hunger, walked out of the restaurant. It was late at night, and he now needed to find a place to stay, but a practical problem immediately arose.

That was the issue of accommodation.

Ordinary hotels required ID cards, and irregular accommodations were hard to find and might not welcome an underage child.

After much thought, Alex decided that the matter of overnight accommodation could be put aside.

His immortal and indestructible physique meant that his cellular activity was incredibly abundant. The surging life-healing power always kept him full of energy, and even the question of how to relieve mental fatigue, after his body was stimulated by a nuclear explosion, Alex didn't feel much fatigue for now.

"The most important thing is that I need to quickly figure out how to find my family's whereabouts."

Boom!!

A coin bomb out of Alex's right hand rose into the air, and then slowly fell back. But just as it was about to land accurately in his palm, the entire coin vanished without a trace.

In less than a second, like a magic trick, a brand new coin appeared out of thin air in his palm.

Then... Boom!!

Another crisp sound, and Alex flicked it up.

At this moment, the entire coin completely disappeared in mid-air.

The invisible fluctuations of Reality Warping were impossible to track. The unseen power caused a coin to appear and disappear in Alex's palm.

This was not showing off.

Instead, Alex was trying to use the ability of Reality Warping as much as possible.

The infinitely evolving genes were indeed undergoing chaotic mutations.

However, past experience also told Alex that external stimulation, or even excessive use of this ability, would cause the direction of gene evolution to find a focal point.

Generally speaking, only in situations of emotional loss of control could the power to completely rewrite reality be used extensively.

However, constantly making a coin appear and disappear, materialize out of thin air, and then directly erase it from reality, naturally did not rely on emotional changes.

..."More practice leads to evolution..."

The constructed system accurately recorded the information of gene transformation.

Alex, walking down the night streets with a black hood and a black trench coat, wearing headphones, constantly flipped and tossed a coin in his hand, making it appear and disappear, full of mystery. His tall and slender figure walked with an air of unparalleled arrogance.

He wandered around, enjoying the night scenery of Manhattan.

However, the beautiful life he had longed for years ago gradually faded in his mind. If he couldn't even control his own life and the lives of those around him, how could his future life unfold?

He wanted to become stronger!

Only the strong could crush all obstacles.

Just then, sparks of impact came from an alley not far away, and the muffled sound of bullets burst from a suppressor.

Alex's keen hearing picked up everything.

His indifferent face showed no emotion. After experiencing human organ trafficking, he had seen many robberies while strolling around. Behind the prosperous city, too much filth was hidden.

This also gradually changed his perception of the world.

His mother always taught him to be kind, and he used to agree wholeheartedly.

But the series of encounters over the past half-month had made him feel somewhat numb.

He was still deciding whether to seek revenge.

On one hand, he longed for a peaceful life, eager to return to his ordinary, warm family.

But on the other hand, he couldn't calm the resentment in his heart. Why should he suffer so many hardships for no reason? Why could bad people still get away with it, wantonly hunting people like him?

Alex's heart stirred.

He was thinking.

The next second.

Alex stopped his steps. His eyes still looked towards the alley entrance not far away, where a girl in a black hooded leather jacket with long purple hair constantly moved among her enemies.

With a katana in one hand and a butterfly knife in the other, she successively killed several attackers.

Alex didn't know that this woman's nickname was Hit-Girl.

He only knew that this woman, wearing a purple wig and a black combat suit, was the same girl who had given him a glass of lemon water at the restaurant earlier.

What a coincidence... Alex frowned, but relying on his innate combat intuition, he realized that the girl was about to get into trouble.

(Picture: Hit-Girl!)

Bang!!

A bullet suddenly burst from the suppressed gun barrel. The dancing figure had no time to dodge in mid-air. With a bang, her figure lost balance and fell from the air.

But what was unexpected was that the girl's black leather jacket embedded the bullet on the outside.

Hoo!!

With an angry snort, the girl, who had rolled to the ground, counter-attacked by throwing a series of butterfly knives. This precise throwing technique was astonishing. In an instant, three figures were hit in their vital throat areas, killing them instantly.

In a short while, the alley was filled with fallen figures in suits, leaving only one small girl, like a god of slaughter.

Alex naturally didn't know about Hit-Girl, who had recently become famous in Manhattan.

As for whether this girl was punishing evil and promoting good, or if it was a gang fight, Alex subconsciously felt it had nothing to do with him.

He was just a passerby.

Alex glanced at her, then turned and walked away.

"That kid just now?"

Hit-Girl Mindy glanced at the tall and slender figure in the distance and frowned. She looked at her watch; it was past midnight. That kid who had been munching on a donut still hadn't gone home.

Mindy, having put on her purple wig and changed into her outfit, wasn't afraid of exposing her identity. She directly threatened from not far away, "Hey, kid, what are you looking at? Aren't you going home to find your parents?"

She simply felt like teasing him, wanting to playfully mess with this old-fashioned guy.

Old-fashioned and silently indifferent, let's see if I can scare you into wetting yourself.

After speaking, Mindy also gestured with the katana in her hand. The cold gleam under the moonlight was even dripping with blood. The scene before him was indeed very frightening.

"Huh..."

But in less than a second, Hit-Girl's expression changed, and she quickly shouted, "Hey, kid, get out of the way! Watch out for the car ahead..."

Alex heard her words and was already turning back, and at that moment, a white car, with its accelerator fully pressed, like a wild horse unbridled, charged straight towards him with a terrifying impact.

There was no need to think much; this suddenly speeding car was definitely looking for trouble with Hit-Girl.

But coincidentally, Alex's figure was right in the middle.

To Kingpin, the underground emperor of the underworld, what was an innocent life worth?

His subordinates were even more reckless because of this. To retaliate against Hit-Girl, they simply floored the accelerator without a care, ignoring the pedestrians on the road, and sped towards the alley.

"To be so rampant..."
